SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This perf

    2、ormance specification covers engine oils suitable for lubrication of reciprocating compression-ignition internal combustion engines and for power transmission fluid applications in combat/tactical service equipment (see 6.1). 1.2 Classification.     30、as been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Qualification. The lubricating oils furnished under this specification shall be products that are authorized by the qualifying activity for listing on the applicable qualified products list before contract award (see 4.1.1 and 6.3). Any change in the formulation

    31、 of a qualified product will necessitate its requalification. 3.2 Design, materials, and manufacturing processes. Unless otherwise specified, the design, materials and manufacturing process selection is the prerogative of the contractor as long as all articles submitted to the Government fully meet

    32、the operating, interface, support and ownership, and environmental requirements specified. 3.2 1 Materials. Lubricating oils shall be derived from petroleum fractions, synthetically prepared compounds or a combination of the two types of products. They may be virgin, re-refined stocks or a combinati

    33、on thereof. The stocks shall be compounded with such functional additives (detergents, dispersants, oxidation inhibitors, corrosion inhibitors, etc) as are necessary to meet the specification requirements. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promotes ec

    35、onomically advantageous life cycle costs. 3.3 Operating requirements. The lubricating oil shall meet all the finished oil and operating requirements as specified in 3.3.1 through 3.3.16 and conform to the rheological and physical requirements specified in Table I.
