Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. (See contract provisions for additional precedence criteria). 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1

    16、 General descriDtion. The VMS modem operates by modulating discrete digital signals into frequency encoded signals and by demodulating frequency encoded signals into discrete digital signals. 3.2 Characteristics. 3.2.1 Performance. The VMS modem shall meet the performance requirements specified in t

    17、he sections below. 3.2.1.1 J1 connector siunal characteristics. All digital signal circuits shall be balanced differential voltage circuits in accordance with EIA standard RS-422. All line drivers shall comply with the generator electrical characteristics specified in EIA RS-422. All receivers shall

    18、 comply with the requirements of EIA RS-422 with the following changes: a. The common mode voltage range shall be -15 to +15 vdc. b. Over the entire common mode voltage range, the receiver shall not require a differential input voltage of more than 500 millivolts dc to correctly assume the intended

    19、binary state. c.     20、 vdc in magnitude or cause the receiver circuit to operationally fail. d. The allowable input current versus input voltage characteristics shall be extended as follows: Input Voltage Range Input Current Range +10 to +18 Vdc O to +3.25 mA -18 to -10 Vdc O to -3.25 mA e. Over the entire common mode vo

    21、ltage range the balance of the receiver input voltage-current characteristics and bias voltages shall be such that the receiver will remain in the intended binary state when a differential voltage of 1000 millivolts is applied through 500 ohms plus or minus 1 percent to each input terminal. The VMS

    22、modem shall not be damaged or malfunctioned when signal circuits are connected or disconnected with power on or off. 3.2.1.1.1 Locric levels. A binary “1“ or assertion shall be represented by a positive voltage on the “Hif line with respect to the “Lo“ line. A binary “O“ or negation shall be represe

    23、nted by a positive voltage on the “Lo“ line with respect to the “Hirf line. 3.2.1.2 J2 connector sisnal characteristics. Data shall be transmitted and received via frequency-encoded signal circuits. Data will be formatted as a discrete frequency. 3.2.1.2.1 Locric levels. A high shall be represented

    24、by a voltage greater than 10.0 Vdc but less than 19.5 Vdc. A low shall be represented by a voltage less than 1.0 Vdc but greater than O Vdc . 3.2.1.2.2 Locric level outwt drive. The VMS modem shall be able to provide the output logic levels of 3.2.1.2.1 when driving a load that consists of a 5.0 k 1

    25、0 percent Vdc voltage source in series with 332 k 10 percent ohms and a 1N4148 diode oriented so as to source current only, and also simultaneously driving no more than 0.018 microfarads shunted from the output to ground. 3.2.1.2.3 Loaic level source imDeda nce. The VMS modem shall respond to a sour

    26、ce consisting of voltages of 18.0 I1.0 vdc or 0.0 f 0.5 Vdc in series with 33.2 k 10 percent ohms and shunted by no more than 0.018 microfarads to ground producing the logic levels of 3.2.1.2.1. 3.2.1.3 Innut DO wer. The VMS modem normally operates from power supplied in accordance with MIL-STD-275A

This power shall be applied through 52 pin A with respect to return pin B. 3.2.1.3.1 InDu

The VMS modem shall draw 1.2 amps maximum at minimum input voltage of 18.0 vdc and 1.2 amp maximum at maximum input voltage of 32.0 Vdc with the +5 vdc pins (JI-J, K) tied together, the Digital Return pins (Jl-R, S) tied together and a 10 f: 0.5 ohm resistor across the +5 Vdc and the Digi

    29、tal Return. 3.2.1.3.2 Power surcre. The VMS modem shall survive a single voltage surge applied to the 18.0 to 32.0 vdc inputs where the voltage increases from an initial value of 23.0 to 32.0 Vdc to its final value for a duration of 45.0 f 5.0 milliseconds. The surge amplitude shall be 1OOV dc maxim

    30、um. The surge voltage shall be provided by a supply with an output impedance not to exceed 500.0 milliohms. Surge rise and fall time shall be between 50.0 and 150.0 volts per millisecond. Surge voltage and rise and fall times shall be as stated from the supply before connection of the VMS modem. 3.2

    31、.1.3.3 Reverse Dower. The VMS modem shall survive simultaneous negative voltage inputs of up to -32.0 Vdc applied to the 18.0 to 32.0 Vdc inputs for a duration of 5.0 to 15.0 seconds. During the application of the reverse voltage, the VMS modem shall draw a total of less than 100.0 milliamperes from

    32、 an external supply - 3.2.1.3.4 Transient Drotection. No damage shall occur to the VMS modem if the input voltage, as defined by MIL-STD-1275A (AT), has a voltage transient of J1-G, H and Jl-T,u output levels according to requirements 1 through 7 of Table II when measured via EIA RS-422 circuits as

The VMS modem shall also provide the BIT command 1 (J1-E, F), BIT command 2 (J1-G, HI, and loopback outputs (JI-T, U) which meet requirements 1 through 5 of Table III with 6.25 kHz k 3 percent applied to th
