    3、meaning of asterisk see paragraph 6.7) 3 REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Material. - Materials shall be in accordance with applicable drawings and specifications. 3.2 Grenade. - The grenade shall comply with all require- ments specified on Drawing (dwg;.) 9215458 and with all require- ments specified in applicable

    4、 specifications. 3.3 Functionin o - The grenade shall detonate in not less than three+ 3 seconds nor more than 10 seconds without evidence of large fragments of unburned explosive. 3.4 Release resistance. - The safety clip shall not be disengaged from its assembled position over the lever by a load

    5、of less than twenty-five (25) ounces when tested (see 6.4). 3.5 X-ray examination of 2062 Fuze, Grenade, prior to loading in them3A 2 Hand Grende. - EacIifuze shall be x-raved and its radioarmh shall be examined before loading of the-?uze-in the grenaude body for the following defects: column missin

    6、g; short delay column; variation in column density; voids at bottom of delay column; anvil pqnch penetration at bottom of delay column; porosity in the fuze body, broken styphnate and azide in detonator cup, foreign matter in delay column.     7、ided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-MIL-G-13706D (PA) 3.,6 Workmanshi . - All parts and assemblies shall be f abricatedd in a thorough workmanlike manner, and all manufacturing, processing, and assembly operations shall be correctly performed

They shall be clean and free of burrs , sharp edges, unblended radii, surface defects, chips, dirt, grease and oil (except where specifically required), corrosion products and other foreign matter. The cleaning method used shall not be injurious to any part or assembly nor shall they be contaminat

    9、ed by the cleaning agent, Exterior surface coatings shall be continuous except for a few light scratches not exposing base material. All required markings shall be neat and sharply defined. Required packing shall be dry, 307 First Article Inspection. - This specification contains technical provision

    10、s for first article inspection. Requirements for the submission of first article samples by the contractor shall be as specified in the contract. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection and Standard Quality Assurance Provisions. - Unless otherwise specified herein or in the

    18、ve complied with the acceptance criteria specified, eighty (80) grenade assemblies shall be selected for test, The lot shall be rejected if during the test a critical defect occurs, or if three (3) or more assemblies exhibit any of the major defects listed in Table II. I 4.4.3.1.2 After three (3) co

    19、nsecutive accepted lots have complied with the criteria of 4.4.3.1.1, thirty (30) grenade assemblies shall be selected for test. accepted on zero failures and shall be rejected if a critical defect occurs or if two or more assemblies exhibit any of the major defects listed in Table II. retest of thi

    20、rty (30) samples if one major defect (see Table II) occurs in the initial sample group. Upon retesting the lot shall be rejected if a critical defect occurs or if two or more assemblies exhibit any of the major defects tested in Table II. . Foreign matter in delay column (Major A defect) If any fuze shows evidence of any of the defects listed above, it shall be classed as defective and removed from the lot. The method of fuze examination will be in accordance wi

    24、th para. 4.5.3. Definitions of defective fuzes. are defined in para. 6.5. required to perform the inspections and tests prescribed in this specification is identified in the Paragraph Reference/ Inspection Method column in the tables starting with ara- graph 4.4.2.1, and the test method paragraphs (

    25、see 4.57. The contractor shall submit for approval, inspection equipment designs in accordance with the terms of the contract. See Section 6 of MIL-A-48078, and section 6.2 herein. .- 4.4.4 Inspection Equipment o - The inspection equipment 4,5 Test methods and procedures, 4.5,1 Functionin . - The gr

    26、enade assembly shall be immersed in wa -T-+ er main ained at seventy (70) plus or minus five (5) degrees Fahrenheit (Po) for one hour at a depth of not less than two inches, The assembly shall be removed from the water and within one hour shall be mounted in the functioning test fixture specified in

    27、 4.4.4 and detonated by remotely removing the safety pin. The fixture and grenade shall be centered in a barricaded arena capable of with- standing the effects of detonation. The grenade assembly shall be observed for compliance with the requirements. 4.502 Release resistance, - The load shall be ap

    28、plied slowly and steadily parallel with the safety pin in the clip releasing direction until the total load is supported by the clip. The clip shall be observed.for compliance with the requirements. 4.5.3 X-ray examination of M206A2 Fuze Assembly, - Inspection equipment and the image quality of the

    29、radiographs e9 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-MIL-G-13706D (PA) for this examination shall be satisfactory to the Procurement Contracting Officer, in this inspection shall be perpendicular to the axis of the delay tube. The direction

PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Preservation and packaging, c 5.1.1 Level A. - Grenades shall be packaged in accord- ance with dwg, 9211614. 5.2 Packing, 5.2,1 Level A, - The unit packaged grenades shall be packed in accordance with dwg. 9211615. 5.3 4arking. - Marking sh

    31、all be in accordance with dwgs. 9211614 and 9211.615. 6, NOTES 6.1 the following: Ordering Data. - Procurement documents shall specify a. Title, number and data of this specification. b. Provisions for submission of first article samples. e. Provisions of MIL-A-48078. 6.2 Submission of Inspection Eq

    32、uipment Designs for Approval. - (See MIL-A-48078). Submit equipment designs as required, to Commander: Picatinny Arsenal, ATTN: SARPA-QA- T-T, Dover, New Jersey 07801. 6.3 Distribution of ammm,ition data cards, - Distribution of data cards shall include the following: Commander: Picatinny Arsenal, A

    33、TTN: 07801. to 100% x-ray screening should be annotated to reflect performance of this inspection. SARPA-&A-A-4 and SARPA-AD-E-C2, Dover, New Jersey Data cards for all lots of grenades and fuzes submitted 6.4 The safety clip shall also be considered disengaged from its assembled position over the le

    35、ved. 6.5 Definitions of Critical and Major defects for use in X-ray examination of fuze assembly. 6.5.1 Missing or short delay column (Critical defect). - This defect is defined as critical when there is no column or when the delay column does not reach the base of the threaded portion of the fuze b

    36、ody. 6.5.2 Variation in column density (MaJor defect), - This defect is defined as a major defect when there is signif- icant variation within a given delay column of the apparent column density as viewed on the radiograph, i 6.5,3 Voids at the bottom of delay column (Major defect). - This defect is

    37、. classed as a major defect when the void at the bottom of the delay column (detonator end) extends across the entire diameter af the fuze body delay cavity. 6.5.4 Anvil punch penetration at bottom of the delay column (Major defect). - This defect is classed as a major defect when the anvil punch pe

    38、netration at the bottom of the delay column, including any breakout, extends more than 0.100 inch up into the column. (Note: Fuzes without any other defects which have anvil punch penetration, including breakout, which does not extend more than 0,100 inch up into the column are acceptable providing

    39、the height of the delay column is at least 0,700 inch when measured from the top of the anvil punch mark or breakout. Measurement is not made from the base of the delay column), 6.5.5 Porosity in the fuze body (Major defect), - This defect is de7ined as a major defect when the fuze body, at the inte

    40、rsection of the threaded portion and the delay column, is found to be porous. 6.5.6 Broken styphnate and azide in detonator cup (Major defect). - This defect is defined as a major defect when any broken, crumbled, or loose styphnate and azide is detected in the detonator tube, 6.5.7 Foreign matter i

    42、agation of the delay element. 6.6 Disposition of defective fuze assemblies, 6.6.1 Critically defective. fuze assefiblies. - When a critically defective fuze is found, this Arsenal (SARPA-&A-A-M) shall be immediately notified and the fuze held pending dis- position and in no instance will the fuze be

    43、 destroyed without permission of the Procurement Officer. 6.6.2 All defectiye fuze culled from each lot should be re-x-rayed to confirm their identity, and the effectiveness of the screening process, in addition this Arsenal will be notified on 8 continuing basis of the quantities and specified type
