    8、LITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 3.1 Material. Materials shall be in accord- ance with applicable drawings and specifi-. cations. 3.2 Detonator. The detonator shall comply with ali- requirements specified on Drawing (dwg.) 8797752 and with all requiremenik specified in applicable specifications. 3.3 Moistu

    9、re content of lead azide. The moisture content of the lead azide used in loading the detonator shall not exceed 0.50 percent when tested as specified in 43.1. 3.4 Moisture content of primer mixture. The moisture content of the primer mixture used in loading the detonator shall not ex- ceed 0.30 perc

    10、ent when tested as specified in 4.3.3. 3.5 Functioning. 3.5.1 Spmmt. The contractor shall make available to the Government all in- spection and test equipment necessary for de- termining conformance with contract require- ments. Personnel for operating the equipment, and verification of its accuracy

    11、, shall be sup- plied by the contractor for the performance of examination or test by the Government. 4.3 Test methods and procedures, 4.3.1 Moisture content of lead azide. The moisture content of the lead azide shall be de- termined in accordance with MIL-STD-650 Method 101.5 except, use a two gram

    12、 sample and cover the dish with a sheet of polytetra- fluorothylene. 4.3.2 Detemimtima of binder-lubl-icant con tent of tetryl. An accurately weighed portion of 5 grams shall be transferred to a tared medium porosity sintered glass filtering cruc- ible. The sample shall be extracted with four 10 mil

    13、ligram (mi.) portions of acetone main- taining each portion in contact with the resi- due for approximately 5 minutes before apply- ing suction. Any lumps which may persist shall be broken up and the sides of the cruc- ible washed down with each 10 mi. portion of acetone to insure complete removal o

    14、f the tetryl. The residue shall be aspirated until the odor of acetone is no longer detectable. The crucible and contents shall be placed in a dry- ing oven at 100 degrees Centigrade (C.), 150 degrees C. for 1/2 hour, cooled in a desicatm and weighed. The above extraction shall be re- peated drying

    15、and weighing with individual 10 ml. portions of acetone until the loss in weight on subsequent extractions totals less than 0.005 gram. The weight of residue in the crucible shall be calculated to the percent- age of total binder-lubricant, 43.3 Moisture content of primer mixture. The moisture conte

    16、nt of the primer mixture shall be dekrmined in accordance with MIE STD-650 Method 101.5 except, use a one gram sample. 4.3.4 Cmpos;im of prmr mhture. The composition of the primer mixture shall be determined by performing the following tests in the sequence specified : 6 Provided by IHSNot for Resal

Approximately 1 gram of the primer mixture shall be accu- rately weighed and transferred to a tared fil- terhg crucible of approximately 15 ml. capac- ity. Three ml. of lead azi

    18、de-saturated distilled water hll be added at a temperature of 25 degrees C. plus or minus 2 degrees C., agitated for exactly 1 minute, and if necessary, any lumps shall be broken up with a glass rod, taking care not to disturb the asbestos mat. Suction shall be applied. This procedure shall be repea

    19、ted five times making a total of six 3 ml. extractions. The sample shall be rinsed the filtering crucible with a few ml. of alcohol and ether, dried for approximately 15 minutes at 95 degrees C. plus or minus 2 de- grees C., cooled in a desiccator and weighed. The loss in weight shall be calculated

    20、as the percentage of potassium chlorate. 4.3,4.2 Leud mide. The residue remaining from the potassium chlorate determination shall be extracted with 6 mi. portions of satu- rated ammonium acetate solution at about 25 degrees C. (hot saturated ammonium acetate solution must not be used as it dissolves

    21、 anti- mony sulfide to some extent) each portion be- ing agitated for about 30 seconds, until the washings no longer give a yellow precipitate mith a few drops of potassium dichromate solu- tion. The use of more than 60 ml. of ammon- ium acetate solution should be avoided. Tkie residue shall be wash

    22、ed with distilled water, rinsed with a few ml. of alcohol and ether, dried for approximately 15 minutes at 109 degrees C, plus or minus 5 degrees C., cooled in a desiccator and weighed. The loss in weight ahall be Calculated as the perwntage of lead azide. 4.3.4.3 Antinumy sulF&e. The residue re- ma

    23、ining from the lead azide determination shall be extracted with concentrated hydro- chloric acid until free from antimony sulfide. (This extraction can be made without remov- ing the sample from the filtering crucible and thus running the risk of disturbing the as- bestos mat.) Suction shall be appl

    24、ied and most of the antimony sulfide extracted with cool concentrated hydrochloric acid, then rinsed thoroughly with hot concentrated hydrochloric MIL-D-46262A (MU) acid, ignited to separate sulphur and organic matter, cooled in a desiccator and weighed. The loss in weight shall be calculated as the

    25、 percentage of antimony sulfide. 4.3.4.4 Carborundum. The original weight of the ignited filtering crucible shall be sub- tracted from the weight of the crucible and residue after the antimony sulfide deterrnina- tion and the difference calculated as the per- centage of carborundum. 4.3.5 Functming.

    26、 4.3.5.1 Smit&,Lity. The detonator shall be assembled to a test fixture (see 4.2.4) so that the firing pin will strike the sensitive end of the detonator. A steel ball, approximately is/ii inch in diameter and weighing 3.95 ounces, maximum, shall be dropped on the firing pin, to function the detonat

    27、or, from a height of 12 inches, maximum. The height of drop shall be measured as the height from the top of the firing pin to the bottom of the ball. A det- onator that fails to fire or fails to create a hole in the lead disc of the required size shall be classed defective, 4.3.5.2 Wutof.ness. The d

    28、etonators shall be immersed under water as specified for the time specified. Within one hour after removal from the water the detonators shall be sub- jected to the sensitivity test specified in 4.3.5.1. Any detonator that fails to fie or fails to create a hole in the lead disc of the required size

    29、shall be classed defective. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Preservation and packaging. 5.1.1 LweZ C. Packaging shall be as specified on dwg. 7548104. 5,1,2 Intdkk packging. The primers shall be packaged in accordance with dwg. 7548099. 5.3 Marking. Inner, outer and exterior con- tainers shall be ma

    31、n MIL-A-2660. 6. NOTES 6.1 Ordering data. Procurement documents shall specify title, number and date of this specification. 6.2 Inspection de numbers. The five digit code numbers assigned to the inspections herein are to facilitate future data collection and analysis by the Government. 6.3 Inspectio

    32、n equipment. The contractor shall design inspection equipment as required by the referenced Inspection Equipment Lists (IEL) in accordance with the instructions of paragraphs 6.3.1 through 6.3.7. 6.3.1 Inspecthn eqwipment lists. Inspection equipment lists indicate the availability of inspection equi

    33、pment designs by showing in the number column of the list of inspection equipment (O0 Form 12423) the numbers of drawings of existing equipment designs or codes as indicated in paragraph 6.3.2. Design action required of the contractor with respect to the different types of drawings that may be liste

    34、d is described in paragraphs 6.3.3 and 6.3.4. Action required by the contractor with respect to commercial inspection equipment is described in 6.3.6. The contractor will be required to prepare detailed drawings in ac- cordance with 6.3.6 for all the equipment coded as “Contractor Design“ in the num

    35、ber column. These contractor designs must be ap- proved by the Government prior to fabrca- tion or procuring of the equipment. Designs shall be submitted for approval as specified in 6.3.7. 6.3.2 Inspec% equimt list coes. The inspection equipment as defined in 6.3.3, 6.3.4, 6.3.5 and 6.3.6 will be d

    36、esignated in the EL by the following codes: CDAF - Contracbra design responsibility on Amy format in accordance with MIL-D-46608. CDCF - Contractors design nypwibility on contractor format. AD - Army design. ADMU - Army design, mandatory for use. CE - Commercial equipment. SCD - Specification contro

    37、l drawing. 6.3.3 Amy designs. Army designs are re- flected on detailed drawings which completely depict all the information necessary for the fabrication of the item of inspection equip- ment. The contractor need provide no design when an Army design is listed for an item of inspection equipment. Ar

    38、my designs fall into two basic classifications, mandatory and non- mandatory. When an inspection equipment list references mandatory Army designs, the contractor shall comply with, and use these designs accordingly. The contractor may, how- ever, in connection with non-mandatory de- signs and with t

    39、he approval of the Govern- ment, design alternate inspection equipment or use comparable commercial equipment to facilitate his operations. Such contractor pre- pared designs or commercial equipment selec- tions must be approved by the Government prior to fabrication or procuring of the equip- ment.

    40、 Designs shall be submitted for approval as specified in 6.3.7. 6.3.4 Speeficution control drawing. Specifi- cation control drawings depict the minimum equipment requirements in outline descrip- tive, diagrammatic or pictorial form only and specify the required performance or other characteristics.

    41、Contractors must prepare de- tailed drawings (see 6.3.6) of their designs in support of specification control drawings. These contractor prepared designs must be approved by the Government prior to the fab- rication or procuring of the equipment. Com- mercial equipment meeting the requirements of sp

    42、ecification control drawings may be ap- proved if described in mfficient detail to per- mit identification and evaluation by the Gov- ernment. Designs shall be submitted for ap proval as specified in 6.3.7. 6.3.5 Commerczl equipm,ent. Commercial equipment is inspection equipment that has universal a

    43、pplication for a specific function. Contractors are not required to furnish drawings of comme

    44、rcial inspection equipment, but a list of such equip- ment must be approved by the Government. Lists shall be submitted for approval to the inspection element of the agency administer- ing the contract. 6.3.6 Contractor desgns, Contractor designs are designs of inspection equipment for which the Gov

    45、ernment has assigned design respons- ibility to the contractor. Contractor designs shall be supported by detailed drawings which depict all information necessary to completely fabricate, calibrate and operate an item of inspection equipment. This requires that the necessaiy views, dimensions, materi

    46、als, fin- ish, notes, operating and calibration instruc- tions be properly depicted in accordance with approved practices to the extent that further calculation or clarification will not be required. Contractor designs identified as CDCF may be developed on the format the contractor nor- mally emplo

    47、ys in his equipment design pro- cedure provided such format reflects the de- tail and information specified above. Contrac- tor designs identified as CDAF shall comply With the format and requirements of MIL D-45608, and in addition, contain the detail and infomation specified above. Final ap- prove

    48、d contractor designs identified as CDCF shall be suitable for microfilming. They must be non-reproducible diazo or electrostatic prints of top quality full size with black line on white background and shall provide a leg- ible print produced via the 35MM microfilm process. Contractor shall submit on

    49、e copy of the final design as a rolled set or flat set. Custodian: A?DlY-MU 6.3.7 Submbsh of contractor dedgns. De- signs shall be submitted for approval to the Commanding Officer, Picatinny Arsenal, ATTN: SMUPA-ND. Design review will nor- mally be accomplished within one month after receipt by Picatinny Arsenal. Partial submission of inspection equipment designs is permissible and encouraged. However, the Arsenal completion date for design review will be based on the date of the final submi
