SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers the requir

    2、ements for permeable cotton cloth. 1.2 Classification. The cloth shall be of the following types and classes as specif ied (see 6.2) : Type I - 5.2 ounces Class 1 - Dyed Class 2 - Natural, flame resistant and mildew resistant treated. Class 3 - Bleached white Type II - 6.0 ounces Class 1 - Dyed Clas

In the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein, the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific ex

    15、emption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 6.31, in accordance with 4.3. 3.2 Standard sample. The finished cloth shall match the standardsample for shade and appearance and shall be equal to or

    16、better than the standard sample with respect to all characteristics for which the standard sample is referenced (see 6.4). 3.3 Material. The material shall be cotton which has been carded, drawn and spun into single yarn. It is encouraged that recycled material be used when practical as long as it m

    17、eets the requirements of this specification. 3.4 Color. 3.4.1 Types I and II, class 1. The color of the dyed cloth shall match the standard sample when viewed under filtered tungsten lamps that approximate artificial daylight and that have a correlated color temperature of 7500 + 200K, with illumination of 100 - + 20 foot candles, and shall

    23、be a good match under incandescent lamplight at 2300 - + 200K. 3.4.4 Colorfastness. The types I and II, class 1 dyed cloth shall show fastness to laundering (after 3 cycles), perspiration and light (after 40 hours), equal to or better than the standard sample or equal to or better than a rating of “

    24、good“. the standard sample or shall have an AATCC Chromatic Transference Scale rating of not lower than 3.5. The width of the cloth shall be as specified (see 6.2) and shall be the minimum acceptable width inclusive of the selvage when fly shuttle looms or shuttleless looms with tuck-in selvage are us

    28、ed. For all other shuttleless looms the width measurement shall be made between the last warp yarn on each side excluding the protruding frings(s) (see 6.5). 3.5.2 Weave. The weave shall be oxford, plain weave (two ends weaving as one). 3.6 Cloth preparation. e 3.6.1 Types I and II, classes 1 and 3.

    29、 The types I and II, classes 1 and 3 cloth shall be closely singed, desized and mercerized. The starch and protein content including chloroform-soluble and water-soluble material of the finished cloth shall not exceed 2.0 percent when tested as specified in 4.4.3. 3.6.2 Type I, class 2. The type I,

    30、class 2 cloth shall be desized. The starch and protein content including chloroform-soluble and water-soluble material of the cloth prior to flame resistant and mildew resistant treatments shall not exceed 2.0 percent when tested as specified in 4.4.3. 3.7 Finishing, type I, class 2 cloth. The cloth

The cloth shall be treated with solubilized copper-8- quinolinolate applied from an aqueous or solvent base. have a copper content of not less than 0.18 perc

    35、ent and not greater than 0.27 percent as metal from copper-8-quinolinolate when tested as specified in 4.4.3. The finished cloth shall 3.8 pH. The pH value of water extract of finished cloth shall be no less than 5.0 nor more than 8.5 when tested as specified in 4.4.3. 3.9 Shrinkage. Types I and II,

    36、 classes 1 and 3 cloth shall be preshrunk and shall not shrink more than 1.0 percent in either the warp or filling direction. Type I, class 2, cloth shall be preshrunk and shall not shrink more than 3.0 percent in either the warp or filling direction. Testing shall be as specified in 4.4.3. The pres

    37、hrinking process shall not be identified by name or trademark either on the cloth or on the ticket or package. 3.10 Length and put-up. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.21, the finished cloth shall be furnished in continuous lengths, each not less than 40 yards. Each length shall be put-up on full w

    38、idth rolls as specified in 5.1. 3.11 Face identification. The face side of the cloth shall be identified by applying a stamping on that side of the cloth with the word “Face“ at each end of the roll. 3.12 Fiber identification. Each roll shall be labeled or ticketed for fiber content in accordance wi

    39、th the Rules and Regulations Under the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act, 3.13 Workmanship. The finished cloth shall conform to the quality of product established by this specification. The demerit points per 100 square yards when calculated as specified in section 4 shall not exceed the app

    40、licable established maximum point values. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISION 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements (examinations and tests) as specified herein. Exc

    41、ept as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections

    42、 set forth in this specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items shall meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. part of the contractors overall inspection system or qualit

When certificates of compliance are submitted, the Government reserves the right to inspect such items to determine the validity of the cer

    46、tification. 4.2 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. b. First article inspection (see 4.3) Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4) 4.3 First article inspection. When a first article is required (see 3.1 and 6.21, it shall be exami

    47、ned for the defects specified in 4.4.2.1 and 4.4.2.4 and tested as specified in 4.4.3. 4.4 Quality conformance inspection. 4.4.1 Component and material inspection. In accordance with 4.1, components and materials shall be inspected in accordance with all the requirements of referenced documents unle

    48、ss otherwise excluded, amended, modified, or qualified in this specification or applicable purchase document. 4.4.2 End item examination. . 4.4.2.1 Yard-by-yard examination. Each roll in the sample shall be examined on the face side only. When the total yardage in the roll does not exceed 100 yards,

    49、 the entire yardage in the roll shall be examined. roll exceeds 100 yards, only 100 yards shall be examined. All defects, as defined in Section I of FED-STD-4, which are clearly noticeable at normal inspection distance (3 feet) shall be scored and assigned demerit points as listed in 4.4.2.1.1 except that only those slubs and knots which exceed the limits shown on Sears Fabric Defect Scales (see .6.7), G or 1 as applicable for slubs and “E” for knots, shall be sc
