    14、hes safety requirements for the design, manufacture, construction, modification, maintenance and operation of waste transfer stations used in the collection, storage, and the eventual transportation of commingled wastes and recyclable materials. This standard was developed by the Z245 Subcommittee 4

    15、 on Facilities. The effective date of Sections 4 through 9 of this standard for existing facilities shall be eighteen (18) months after the approval date of this standard by the American National Standards Institute. Training and employer requirements sections shall be effective six (6) months after

    16、 the approval date of this standard. All facilities placed in operation eighteen (18) months after the approval date of this standard shall be designed, constructed, and operated in accordance with the requirements of this standard. Inquiries, requests for interpretation, and suggestions for improve

    25、e 1 American National Standard for Equipment Technology and Operations for Wastes and Recyclable Materials Waste Transfer Station Safety Requirements Introduction This standard was developed by Accredited Standards Committee Z245 Subcommittee 4 on Facilities and approved by American National Standar

    26、ds Institute Accredited Standards Committee Z245. This standard establishes safety requirements with respect to the design, manufacture, installation, reconstruction, modification, maintenance, and operation of waste transfer station facilities for the collection, storage, processing, and eventual t

    27、ransportation of solid waste and recyclable materials. The requirements contained in this standard pertain to the designers, owners, operators, employees and customers of waste transfer stations. Where transfer stations and material recovery facilities are co-located, the material storage requiremen

    28、ts in Z245.41 shall apply. Exceptions and notes contained in the standard apply to the clause or sub-clause in which they are contained or to which they reference. Exceptions pertain to normative requirements. Notes are informative and provide guidance for the evaluation of a normative requirement.

    29、The units of distance measurement used in this standard are in the inch-pound system. When a value for measurement is followed by a value in other units in parentheses (metric) the second value is only approximate. The first value is the requirement. 1. Scope 1.1 This American National Standard is a

    30、pplicable to all persons who design, manufacture, assemble, modify, operate, clean, maintain, service, repair, or use transfer station facilities that engage in collecting, receiving, storing, processing, and eventual transportation of solid waste and recyclable materials. For purposes of this stand

    31、ard, a waste transfer station shall be deemed a facility with a tipping floor and may or may not also provide for a public drop- off area for solid waste. 1.2 Sections 1 through 3 provide general information and definitions and shall apply to all waste transfer stations covered by this standard. 1.3

    32、 Sections 4 through 6 provide for physical plant, processing machinery and mobile equipment requirements that shall apply to both new and existing waste transfer stations. 1.4 Section 7 provides for safety programs and safety requirements that shall apply to both new and existing waste transfer stat
