、6 Design Requirements 6.1 Overview The intent of this standard is to provide a line replaceable chassis which accommodates VITA 46, VITA 48 and IEEE 1101 format plug-in boards, as well as providing an upgrade path for older ARINC 404A, and ARINC 600 applications. The modularity of the LRU sizing is

、based on those standards while adapting them to the VITA/IEEE board formats. The VITA 58 family of specifications is intended to address variations in envelope, cooling method, connectors, coolant couplings, and in general, mechanical and electrical interface requirements and is arranged as follows.

、 58.0 General specification for Line Replaceable Integrated Electronics Chassis 58.1 Liquid cooled LRU 58.2 Air Flow-Through cooled LRU Observation 6-1 This VITA 58 specification structure is not intended to preclude future variations resulting from plug-in unit standards or other unique envelope or

、 mechanical/electrical requirements. 6.2 LRU Identification Rule 6-1: Each LRU shall be identified in accordance with the following. Product nomenclature shall consist of a series of codes separated by a “-“ (dash). The code assignments are as follows. - V58 for VITA 58 - Type of cooling (air or liq

、uid) - Plug-in-unit environmental Classification (classification as identified in ANSI/VITA 47) - Plug-in unit type classification (Type 1 or Type 2 per VITA 48 or Type 3 for other formats) - VITA 58 size code (reference Table 6.3-1 (V58/1H1, V58/2H1, V58/3H2 ) - Maintenance level (2 or 2+) Example:

、 V58-Air-ECC1-Type 1-V58/3-2 This describes an air flow-through cooled LRU, environmental class ECC1 per VITA 47, containing Type 1 conduction cooled modules per VITA 48.2, a VITA 58 size 3 envelope (which is the same in width and depth as a 4 MCU per ARINC 600), designed for 2-level maintenance (th

、e plug-in modules within the LRU are field replaceable as is the LRU). Observation 6-2: The environmental classification of the plug-in units incorporated implies that the line replaceable unit is of equal environmental capability. Rule 6-2: Each LRU shall be part marked with the part number, serial

、 number, product nomenclature (as defined in Rule 6-1), Manufacturers name, CAGE code (optional) on the front surface of the LRU located as shown in the dot specification. ANSI/VITA 58.0 Page 14 of 27 Rule 6-3: The method used for part marking shall remain legible and permanently affixed after expos

、ure to the environments identified in ANSI/VITA 47 for the applicable environmental classification. 6.3 Envelope Observation 6-3: All dimensions and tolerances are in millimeters unless otherwise noted. Dimensioning and tolerancing is in accordance with ASME Y14.5M 1994. Orthographic views are third

、 angle projection. Rule 6-4: LRU mass shall not exceed the values identified in Table 6.3-1. 37、ecommendation 6-1: The preferred LRU widths are identified in Table 6.3-2. See Figure 6.3-1a and 6.3-1b and Table 6.3-2 for dimensions. Rule 6-5: The design of the LRU shall accommodate the forces associated with LRU installation and removal including connector insertion and extraction forces, overt

、ravel, coolant quick disconnect insertion and extraction forces or any other induced forces resulting from environmental exposure as defined in ANSI/VITA 47 or installation and removal without out-of-specification degradation of the product over its intended service life. Observation 6-4: Use of the

、 ARINC 600 compatible widths ensures backward compatibility (of width and depth) of products for potential ARINC 404A, and ARINC 600 retrofit applications.
