Subjective and Objective Speech Quality testing informative annex was added. 5. Added test position for cordles

、s handset speakerphones. Finally, the structure of the document has been modified to place the requirements for receive performance before those for send performance since the establishment of the Nominal Volume Control Setting is a necessary prerequisite for many of the tests. 31、TELEPHONE TERMINAL EQUIPMENT TRANSMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR ANALOG SPEAKERPHONES 1 SCOPE This standard provides acoustic transmission performance requirements for speakerphone equipped analog telephones intended for connection to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), analog terminal adaptors

、(ATA) and voice gateways. These requirements should ensure compatibility and satisfactory performance to the user in a high percentage of installations. Test measurement methods reference procedures in IEEE Std 1329 where applicable. This standard is limited to single housing speakerphones intended

、for use on a desk, table, or handheld (i.e. cordless handsets) by a single user at a distance of one half meter or closer. These requirements are not intended for multi-user conference speakerphones. While the procedures may call out specific test points within the requirements, the full range of th

、e requirements take precedence. 1.1 LIMITS OF THIS STANDARD FOR PRODUCT EVALUATION It is recognized that there are many parameters that may influence the performance of speakerphone devices including: 1. The distance between the user and the speakerphone device 2. Users with a variety of talker leve

、ls 3. The level and type of environmental noise 4. Non-linear processing included in the speakerphone device design (e.g., AGC, AEC) This standard establishes the performance requirements for speakerphones with the following limitations: 1. A single test position is used to simulate the distance bet

、ween the user and speakerphone. 2. The speakerphone is tested without environmental noise present. 3. Testing is performed without consideration for any effects of non-linear processing, although such non-linear processing may be present. Subjective testing may provide additional information regardi

、ng a speakerphone devices performance. However, the subjective test shall not be a substitution for the objective test nor a condition to pass the standard. 1.2 ENVIRONMENTAL This standard does not contain environmental requirements. Environmental requirements can be found in ANSI/TIA-571-C. 1.3 SAF

、ETY This standard does not contain safety requirements. 43、andard, the following definitions apply. Active Speech Level (ASL): Long term average speech level which does not include pauses or silences. It is the time integral of the instantaneous power over the active time, divided by active time, in decibels relative to the appropriate reference. (See ITU-T

、 P.56) Artificial Mouth and Mouth Simulator: This standard uses the term “mouth simulator” synonymously with the term “artificial mouth” (ITU-T P.51), to harmonize with IEEE Std 269. Cordless: A cordless terminal does not have a cable between its handset, headset or speakerphone transducers and a ba

、se unit that connects to the network. Electrical Test Point: The point in a battery feed circuit (see Figure 8) at which signals are applied/accessed: Receive Electrical Test Point (RETP): The point in a battery feed circuit across the 900 ohm source at which signals are applied to the phone in the

、receive direction Send Electrical Test Point (SETP): The point in a battery feed circuit across the 900 ohm load at which signals coming from the phone in the send direction are accessed. Electrical Units: The following electrical units are used in this standard: dBm: Power level in decibels, relati

、ve to a power of 1 mW (milliwatt). dBmp: Power level in decibels, relative to a power of 1 mW, using psophometric weighting (See Annex B). dBV: Voltage level in decibels, relative to 1 volt rms. Far-end: The term far-end is used to describe the part of the end-to-end connection opposite where the de

、vice under test (DUT) is located. Free Field (FF): Sound field in a homogenous, isotropic medium free from boundaries. In practice, the effects of boundaries on a free field are negligible over the region of interest. Listener Reference Point (LRP): A generic term representing the location at which

、the acoustic output from the receiver is to be determined or specified. For the purposes of this standard, the LRP of a speakerphone is the FF. Mouth Reference Point (MRP): A point on the axis of the mouth simulator, 25 mm in front of the center of the equivalent lip plane. Nom VC 0 km (Nominal Volume Control Setting 0 km): The quietest volume control setting that produces a receive level of at least 65 dBSPL with a speech test level of -18 dBV with a 0 km artificial line. Nom VC 2.7 km (Nominal Volume Control Setting 2.7 km): The quietest volume control setting that produc
