    32、amber Use an environmental chamber whose operational range covers the temperature and humidity ranges and rates of change specified by this document or by the Detail Specification. Unless otherwise specified in the Detail Specification, the chamber shall maintain any specified temperature to within

    33、I2 OC (I4 OF) and any specified relative humidity (RH) to within 15% RH throughout the test duration. Unless otherwise specified, the chamber shall have the capacity to change the internal temperature at a rate of at least 25 “C (45 OF) per hour. The inside dimensions of the chamber shall be suffici

    34、ent to accommodate the specimens with a free flow of air around them and to maintain the specified test conditions. The heat source shall be located so that radiant heat will not fall directly on the specimens. When possible, the chamber shall maintain the high-humidity environments required in 5.2.

    35、7 without Condensation; alternatively, provision shall be made to position or protect the specimens to prevent condensation from dripping onto them during the test. If the applicable Detail Specification specifies in-situ optical measurement of the specimens, the chamber shall provide an access port

    37、f the specimens may extend. These ports shall have provision for sealing around any specimens that extend out of the chamber in such a way that the specified test conditions can be maintained. It may be desirable to have a window in the door to observe the specimens during the test. If necessary bec

    38、ause of the limitations of this test chamber, a separate chamber may be used for the portion of the test cycle that runs below room temperature. This chamber shall be capable of maintaining to within I2 OC (k4 OF) the lowest internal temperature required by the specified exposure schedule selected i

    39、n 5.2.7, or as otherwise specified by the Detail Specification. Unless otherwise specified, this chamber shall have the capacity to change the internal temperature at a rate of at least 20 OC (36 OF) per hour. While in this chamber, the specimens shall also be protected from direct radiant heat and

    40、from condensation. Provision shall be made to transfer the specimens between the chambers within 15 minutes maximum, only when both chambers are at room ambient conditions, and with no direct handling of the specimens themselves. The cycle timing shall include only those times when the chambers are

    41、at the specified temperatures and humidities; the transfer time shall not be included in the cycle time. If a second chamber is used, no in-situ measurements shall be attempted (in order to minimize handling and potential damage to the specimens), and specific information to that effect shall be rep

    42、orted with the results. 3.2 Temperature recording device Use a temperature recording device to provide a record of the temperature throughout the test. Unless otherwise specified, the recorder and the sensor shall have a combined accuracy of within I2 “C (14 OF). The sensor shall be positioned to me

    43、asure accurately the temperature experienced by the specimens. It may be desirable to use multiple sensors and a multi-channel recorder so that temperatures measured at several locations around the specimens can be recorded. 3.3 Relative humidity determination Determine relative humidity (RH) using

    44、the dry bulb-wet bulb thermometer coi;nparison or an equivalent method. Unless otherwise specified, the RH measurements shall be accurate to within the equivalent of *I “C (I2 OF) for the dry bulb-wet bulb method. The use of a recording device may be desirable to permit correlation between changes o

    45、f state and events that occur during the test. When the wet bulb control method is used, clean the wet bulb thermocouple and replace the sock every 30 days or at the start of each test, whichever is greater. Ensure an adequate water supply for the longest test duration anticipated. 4 Copyright Elect

    47、on, either optical transmittance measurements or direct attenuation measurements shall be acceptable. All test equipment and accessories required by the appropriate FOTP shall be available. The term “optical test” in this document shall refer to any of the referenced test procedures. 3.4.1 Perform o

    48、ptical transmittance or direct attenuation measurements at the wavelengths specified in the Detail Specification. Unless otherwise specified, make measurements at the following wavelengths: single-mode fiber: 1310 or 1550 nm or both multimode fiber: 850 or 1300 nm or both 3.4.2 Perform optical trans

    49、mittance measurements in accordance with FOTP-20. 3.4.3 Make direct optical attenuation measurements in accordance with FOTP-46, FOTP-53, FOTP-61, or FOTP-78, as specified in the Detail Specification. If specified, make point discontinuity measurements in accordance with FOTP-59. Only measurements made in accordance with FOTP-46, FOTP-61, or FOTP-78 are acceptable for U.S. military applications. 4 S
