    3、,HIPPI, IPI, SCSI and others. This standard is recommended for new implementations but does not obso-lete the existing Fibre Channel standards.Approval of an American National Standard requires review by ANSI that therequirements for due process, consensus, and other criteria for approval havebeen m

    4、et by the standards developer.Consensus is established when, in the judgement of the ANSI Board ofStandards Review, substantial agreement has been reached by directly andmaterially affected interests. Substantial agreement means much more thana simple majority, but not necessarily unanimity. Consens

    5、us requires that allviews and objections be considered, and that a concerted effort be madetowards their resolution.The use of American National Standards is completely voluntary; theirexistence does not in any respect preclude anyone, whether he has approvedthe standards or not, from manufacturing,

    47、ndard describes the physical interface portions of high-performance electricaland optical link variants that support the higher level Fiber Channel protocols including FC-FS, thehigher Upper Level Protocols (ULPs) associated with HIPPI, IPI, SCSI, IP and others.This document contains all the require

    48、ments specified in FC-PI and SM-LL-V, plus additional require-ments relating to 400 MBytes/s copper, 1 200 MBytes/s (10GFC) copper and 400 MBytes/s mediumreach (400-SM-LC-M) variants. When FC-PI-2 is published SM-LL-V will be withdrawn and the re-quirements for variants formerly specified in SM-LL-V

    49、 will be specified only in FC-PI-2. SM-LL-Vneeds to be withdrawn because SM-LL-V depends on the FC-PH standard that has been withdrawn.The technical content of SM-LL-V is unchanged in FC-PI-2. FC-PI-2 also includes additional copperand optical connector options.FC-PI-2 does not replace FC-PI but is intended to carry forward the technical requireme
