    8、ogy AssociationsTechnical Standards ProgramThe ESTA Technical Standards Program was created to serve the ESTA membership and the entertainment industry in technical standards related matters. The goal of the program is to take a leading role regarding technology within the entertainment industry by

    9、creating recommended practices and standards, monitoring standards issues around the world on benefit of our members, and improving communications and safety within the industry. ESTA works closely with the technical standards efforts of other organizations within our industry including USITT and VP

    10、LT as well as representing the interests of ESTA members to ANSI, UL and the NFPA. The Technical Standards Program is accredited by the American National Standards Institute.The Technical Standards Council (TSC) established by ESTAs Board of Directors to oversee and coordinate the Technical Standard

    11、s Program. Made up of individuals experienced in standards making work from throughout our industry, the Committee approves all projects undertaken and assigns them to the appropriate working group. The Technical Standards Council employs a Technical Standards Manager to coordinate the workof the Co

    12、mmittee and its working groups as well as maintaining a “Standards Watch“ on behalf of members. Working groups include: Control Protocols, Electrical Power, Floors, Fog and Smoke, Photometrics, Rigging, andStage Lifts.ESTA encourages active participation in the Technical Standards Program. There are

    13、 several ways to become involved. If you would like to become a member of an existing working group, as have over two hundredpeople, you must complete an application which is available from the ESTA website. Your application is subject to approval by the working group and you will be required to act

    14、ively participate in the work of the group. This includes responding to letter ballots and attending meetings. Membership in ESTA or any other organization is not a requirement for participation in the TSP. You can also become involved by requesting that the TSC developa standard or a recommended pr

    15、actice in an area of concern to you.The Stage Lifts Working Group, which authored this standard, consists of a cross section of entertainment industry professionals representing manufacturers, consultants, dealers, and end-users. ESTA is committed to developing consensus-based standards and recommen

    16、ded practices in an open setting.     42、 Standard, there are no North American elevator standards that address orchestra pit lift design, construction, operation, or inspection.Therefore, the hope is that this document will serve as the reference standard for the design, manufacture, installation, and inspection of orchestra pit liftsThis

    43、 standard does not address the fall hazard presented at the stage edge when the Lift platform is lower than stage floor level.     44、se of Orchestra Pit LiftsChapter 1 Administration1.1 Scope*1.1.1 Scope This standard covers the design, construction, operation, inspection, testing, maintenance, alteration and repair of permanently installed orchestra pit lifts and their associated parts, rooms, spaces, enclosures and hoistways, w

    45、here located in a theatre or a similar place of public entertainment.1.1.1.1 Subsequent inspections* after installation are not covered in this standard.1.1.2 Equipment covered by this standard This standard covers the design, construction, operation, inspection, testing, maintenance, alteration and

    46、 repair of orchestra pit lift equipment and its associated parts, rooms, spaces, and hoistways:1.1.2.1 operating at a speed of 15 feet (4.6 meters) per minute or less;1.1.2.2 not designed for passenger use;1.1.2.3 not for moving during performances;1.1.2.4 providing an orchestra pit performance loca

    47、tion on the audience side of a proscenium arch;1.1.2.5 providing an extension of the stage as a forestage;1.1.2.6 providing an extension of the auditorium floor over the pit.1.1.3 Existing equipment* Existing orchestra pit lifts that do not comply with the provisions of this standard shall be permit

    48、ted to be continued in service, provided that the lack of conformity with these documents does not present a serious hazard as determined by the Authority Having Jurisdiction.1.1.4 Equipment not covered by this standard includes, but is not limited to, the following:1.1.4.1* Integrated payloads, suc
