Significance and Use4.1 Air permeability is an important factor in the perfor-mance of vacuum cleaner bag filter media, because it is a directindicator of the resistance to air flow. It may also

    8、indicate thesize of vacuum cleaner bag needed to achieve the desired airflow volume.4.2 Performance specifications, both industrial and military,have been set up on the basis of air permeability and are usedin the purchase of materials where permeability is of interest.4.3 Since air permeability is

    9、not a linear function of pressuredifferential between paper surfaces, all tests should be made ata prescribed pressure differential, 0.5 in. (12.7 mm) of water.5. Procedure5.1 Determine the air permeability of the paper in accor-dance with Test Method D737.BASIS WEIGHT6. Scope6.1 This test method co

    10、vers the determination of the basisweight of paper used in the manufacture of vacuum cleanerbags.7. Significance and Use7.1 The basis weight is a measure of the substance of thepaper.8. Significance and Use16.1 Tensile strength is indicative of the serviceability ofvacuum cleaner bag papers that are subjected to direct tensilestresses. Tensile strength measurements include the potentialresistance to breaking

    18、 when the paper web is subjected tostrains during travel from the roll through the bag making andprinting process.17.
