    3、hold and commercialupright, canister, stick, and wet/dry vacuum cleaners operatingon carpet when tested under specified conditions.1.1.1 This procedure may be used in conjunction with otherperformance criteria, such as cleaning effectiveness.1.1.2 Vacuum cleaners, other than upright vacuum cleaners,

    4、that provide a carpet-cleaning function are tested in accordancewith the carpet-cleaning instructions provided in the manufac-turers instruction manual. If the manufacturers instructionmanual does not contain instructions for a carpet-cleaningfunction, the vacuum cleaner is not within the scope of t

    5、hisprocedure.1.2 This test method is applicable to household and com-mercial types of vacuum cleaners.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded asstandard.     8、ines43. Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 energy usage, namount of electrical energy con-sumed by a vacuum cleaner during cleaning, measured inJoules (Watt-seconds). There are 3600 watt-seconds in onewatt-hour.3.1.2 model, ndesignation of a group of vacuum cleanershaving identical mechanical and elec

    9、trical construction withonly cosmetic or nonfunctional differences.3.1.3 population, ntotal of all units of a particular modelvacuum cleaner being tested.3.1.4 repeatability limit, r, nvalue below which the abso-lute difference between two individual test results obtainedunder repeatability conditio

    10、n may be expected to occur with aprobability of approximately 0.95 (95 %).3.1.5 repeatability standard deviation, Sr, nstandard de-viation of test results obtained under repeatability conditions.3.1.6 reproducibility limit, R, nvalue below which theabsolute difference between two test results obtain

    11、ed underreproducibility conditions may be expected to occur with aprobability of approximately 0.95 (95 %).3.1.7 reproducibility standard deviation, SR, nstandarddeviation of test results obtained under reproducibility condi-tions.3.1.8 sample, ngroup of vacuum cleaners taken from alarge collection

    12、of vacuum cleaners of one particular modelwhich serves to provide information that may be used as a basisfor making a decision concerning the larger collection.3.1.9 strip, nwidth covered during one stroke, defined bythe extreme outside geometric width of the power head ornozzle.1This test method is

    17、 of measurement isusually the kilowatt-hour.4. Significance and Use4.1 This test method provides an indication of the amount ofenergy usage of the vacuum cleaner while operating over aspecified cleaning area at a specified stroke speed and totalnumber of cleaning strokes.4.1.1 The test area is divid

    18、ed into a number of strips, thestrip being defined as the width of the power head or nozzle.For the purpose of this procedure, the cleaning area is specifiedas 10 m2(15 500 in.2), the stroke speed is defined as 0.5 60.03 m s (1.7 6 0.1 ft s), with a total of 10 strokes per strip.4.2 In order to prov

    19、ide a uniform basis for measuring theperformance described in 1.1, standardized test carpets areemployed in this procedure.5. Apparatus5.1 Stopwatch, with a second hand or other type of equip-ment capable of establishing the specified rate of movementand total cycle time.5.2 Voltmeter, to measure in

    20、put volts to the vacuum cleaner,to provide measurements accurate to within 61%.5.3 Wattmeter, to measure input watts to the vacuumcleaner, to provide measurements accurate to within 61%.5.4 Voltage-Regulator System, to control the input voltageto the vacuum cleaner. The regulator shall be capable of

    21、maintaining the vacuum cleaners rated voltage 61 % andrated frequency having a wave form that is essentially sinusoi-dal with 3 % maximum harmonic distortion for the duration ofthe test.5.5 Data-Acquisition System, controlled in such a way that,depending on the movement of the agitator nozzle, at le

    22、ast 10power measurements are recorded during each stroke.5.6 Temperature and Humidity Indicators, to provide tem-perature measurements accurate to within 612 C (61F) andhumidity measurements accurate to within 3 % relative humid-ity.5.7 Supporting SurfaceA flat surface consisting of a pieceof 19-mm

    23、(34-in.) thick exterior grade plywood with the “A”surface upward to support the test carpet and pad. If necessary,the four corners (only) of the test carpet and pad may befastened to the supporting surface by any acceptable means.6. Materials6.1 Standard level loop or Wilton carpet conforming toSpec

    24、ification F655.6.2 Standard carpet padding conforming to SpecificationF655.7. Sampling7.1 A minimum of three units of the same model vacuumcleaner selected at random in accordance with good statisticalpractice shall constitute the population sample.7.1.1 To determine the best estimate of energy usag

    25、e asso-ciated with the population of the vacuum cleaner model beingtested, the arithmetic mean of the energy consumed by thesample from the population shall be established by testing it toa 90 % confidence level within 65 % of the mean value of theenergy usage rating.8. Conditioning8.1 Test RoomMain

    26、tain the test room in which all condi-tioning and vacuum cleaner testing is performed at 21 6 3C(70 6 5F) and 45 to 55 % relative humidity.8.2 All components involved in the test shall remain and beexposed in the controlled environment for at least 16 h prior tothe start of the test.9. Procedure9.1

    27、Test Procedure:9.1.1 The energy consumed by the sample vacuum cleanershall be established as follows:9.1.1.1 New test carpets and padding shall be level loop orWilton conforming to Specification F655.9.1.1.2 Supporting surface conforming to 5.7.9.1.1.3 Replace the carpet and padding when it has hole

    28、s,tears, or other signs of wear.9.1.1.4 Speed shall be 0.5 6 0.03 m/s (1.7 6 0.1 ft/s).9.1.1.5 Use of automated methods are optional.9.1.2 Preparation of Test Vacuum Cleaners:9.1.2.1 New Test Vacuum Cleaners:(1) Change brush drive belt on vacuum cleaners or agitatornozzles using manufacturers instru

    29、ctions, if equipped.(2) Run the vacuum cleaner in at rated voltage 61 % andrated frequency with filters in place.(3) In a stationary position, operate the vacuum cleaner for1 h with the agitator bristles not engaged on any surface.9.1.2.2 Used Test Vacuum CleanersRecondition a usedtest vacuum cleane

    30、r, prior to each test run, as follows:(1) Thoroughly remove excess dirt from the vacuumcleaner. Without using tools for disassembly, clean the entireouter surface, brushes, nozzle chamber, ductwork, inside of thechamber surrounding the primary filter, all filters and insidehose and wands.(2) For vac

    31、uum cleaners using disposable filters as theprimary filters, use a new disposable primary filter from themanufacturer for each test. Weigh the filter to the nearest 0.10g (0.0035 oz) and install it as recommended by the vacuumcleaner manufacturer.(3) For vacuum cleaners using non-disposable dirtrece

    32、ptacles, empty in accordance with the manufacturersinstructions after each test run and clean the receptacle until itsweight is within 2 g (0.07 oz) of its original weight. Weigh thereceptacle to the nearest 0.10 g (0.0035 oz) and install it asrecommended by the vacuum cleaner manufacturer.NOTE 1Whi

    33、le this procedure may be used by itself, there is a strongF2756 11 (2016)2likelihood that it will be used as a precursor for other performance testing.Therefore, it is considered reasonable to measure and record the initial bagor dirt cup weights prior to testing. If no additional testing is to beco

    34、nducted, this step could be skipped.9.1.3 Test Vacuum Cleaner SettingsIf various settings areprovided, set the motor speed setting, suction regulator, nozzleheight, or combination thereof using the manufacturers speci-fications as provided in the instruction manual for the testcarpet being used. Con

    35、tact the manufacturer if no instructionsare given, or if the instructions are unclear or inadequate.9.1.4 If the vacuum cleaner has not been energized for morethan 60 min prior to testing energize the cleaner for 5 min atnameplate rated voltage (61 %) and frequency (61 Hz)immediately preceding the t

    36、est. For vacuum cleaners with dualnameplate voltage ratings, conduct testing at the highestvoltage.9.1.4.1 Place the vacuum cleaner agitator or nozzle agitator,if equipped, such that the bristles clear the supporting surfaceand no loose dirt is picked up.9.1.5 Immediately following the 5-min “run-in

    37、” of 9.1.4,de-energize the vacuum cleaner and place the vacuum cleanernozzle on the test surface so that the front edge of the vacuumcleaner coincides with the line defining the beginning of thetest area.NOTE 2In the case of canister or wet/dry vacuum cleaners, the nozzleis attached at the end of a

    38、hose and wand. It will be the nozzle intendedfor use on carpet. For combination tools, it will be set for carpet cleaning.9.1.5.1 If an automated method is not used, reasonableefforts shall be made to maintain the handle height at 800 mm(31.5 in.) during each test run for vacuum cleaners with apivot

    39、ing handle.9.1.6 Measure the power consumed while vacuuming carpetwith either of the methods defined in IEC 60312, clause 4.14 orUL 1017, clause 5.2, as modified below.9.1.6.1 Operate the vacuum cleaner or nozzle (with orwithout agitator) for a period of 2 min back and forth on thetest carpet.9.1.6.

    40、2 Take power measurements during the last minute,with a minimum of five measurements in each stroke directionaveraging the readings to determine the mean power, PAVG,consumed.NOTE 3The IEC 60312 test method includes the transition areas at theend of each stroke. There is no evidence indicating that

    41、including orexcluding the transition areas has any significant effect on the results.9.1.7 Using the same test vacuum cleaner, repeat 9.1.3 9.1.6 two additional times for a total of three test runs.9.1.8 The average energy used for each individual testvacuum cleaner from the population sample for a

Precision and Bias11.1 PrecisionNo interlaboratory tests have been per-formed

    47、; therefore, no precision statements regarding the re-peatability and reproducibility of this test method are availableat this time.11.2 BiasNo justifiable statement can be made on the biasof the method to evaluate energy of household/commercialvacuum cleaners since the true value of the property ca
