    3、specification covers requirements and test methodsfor materials, dimensions, workmanship, elongation,brittleness, pipe stiffness, and markings for single wall corru-gated polypropylene (PP) pipe and double wall corrugatedpolypropylene (PP) pipe. It covers nominal sizes 6 in. through30 in. (152 mm th

    4、rough 762 mm).1.2 The corrugated polypropylene pipes governed by thisstandard are intended for use in non-pressure applications forsanitary sewers, storm sewers and drainage pipes. Single wallcorrugated polypropylene pipe shall not be used for sanitarysewer applications.1.3 The values stated in inch

Terminology3.1 DefinitionsDefinitions are in accordance with Termi-nology F412 and abbreviations are accordance with Terminol-ogy

    18、 D1600, unless otherwise specified.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 double wall pipe, ncorrugated pipe with a coex-truded interior liner.3.2.2 single wall pipe, ncorrugated pipe without an inte-rior liner.3.2.3 waterway wall, nthe pipe wall in single wall pipeand the interior

    19、 wall in double wall pipe.4. Materials4.1 PolypropylenePolypropylene compounds used in themanufacture of corrugated single wall and double wall pipeshall have the minimum properties as shown in Table 1.Polypropylene compounds shall be comprised of the basepolypropylene virgin material and all additi

    20、ves, colorants, UVinhibitors, and stabilizers. Polypropylene compounds can bepre-compounded or made in-situ during pipe extrusion bycombining natural polypropylene material with a color master-batch or other additives, or both. Conditioning, sampling,preparation and testing of molded specimens shall

    21、 be inaccordance with the requirements in Specification D4101.Material for preparation of molded specimens shall be takenfrom the pipe.4.2 Color and Ultraviolet (UV) Stabilization The pipeshall be colored or black. Black polypropylene compoundsshall have between 2.0 and 3.0 percent carbon black. Col

    22、oredpolypropylene compounds shall be protected from Ultraviolet(UV) degradation with UV stabilizers. Colored polypropylenecompounds shall contain sufficient UV protection to allow pipemade according to this standard to be stored outdoors for atleast two years from the date of manufacture without deg

    23、rada-tion of the stated properties.4.3 Rework MaterialClean polypropylene reworkmaterial, generated from the manufacturers own production ofthe product and having the same minimum physical properties,may be used by the manufacturer, provided that the pipeproduced meets all the requirements of this s

    24、pecification.4.4 Rubber MaterialsRubber compounds used in themanufacture of sealing rings or gaskets shall meet the require-ments of Specification F477.4.5 LubricantThe lubricant used for assembly of gasketedjoints shall have no detrimental effect on the gasket or on thepipe.5. Joining System5.1 Bel

    25、l and Spigot Joint:5.1.1 The pipe ends shall consist of integrally formed belland spigot designed to accommodate a gasket, which whenassembled forms a watertight seal by the radial compression ofthe gasket between the spigot and the bell ends.5.1.2 The joint shall be designed to avoid displacement o

    26、fthe gasket when it is assembled in accordance with themanufacturers recommendations.5.1.3 The assembly of the joint shall be in accordance withthe manufacturers recommendations.5.2 Other Joining SystemsWhere these connections arenot practical or undesirable because of space, layout, or otherrequire

    27、ments, joining methods such as external snap couplers,split couplers, or other joining methods that are equallyeffective are to be used in accordance with the manufacturersrecommendations.6. Requirements6.1 WorkmanshipThe pipe and fittings shall be homoge-neous throughout and be as uniform as commer

    28、cially practicalin color, opacity, and density.     29、2that are visible to the naked eye and that may affect the wallintegrity. The ends shall be cut cleanly and squarely.6.2 Pipe Dimensions:6.2.1 Nominal Size The nominal size for pipe and fittingsshall be as shown in Table 2 and are based on the insidediameter of the pipe.6.2.2 Inside DiameterMeasure

    30、the inside diameter inaccordance with Test Method D2122. The tolerances are shownin Table 2, when measured in accordance with 8.3, and shall beapplied to the stated manufacturers supplied diameter. In nocase shall the manufacturers stated inside diameter minus thetolerance be less than the required

    31、minimum pipe insidediameter listed in 8.4.NOTE 1The manufacturers stated inside diameter is the nominaldiameter plus or minus the inside diameter tolerances. The minimuminside diameter is the smallest diameter the pipe can be with thesetolerances and is used for the hydraulic design of the pipe.6.2.

    32、3 Waterway Wall ThicknessThe minimum waterwaywall thickness shall meet the requirements given in Table 2,when measured in accordance with 8.4.6.2.4 Pipe Dimensions shall comply with Table 2, whenmeasured in accordance with Test Method D2122.6.2.5 Laying LengthThe pipe may be sold in any layinglength

    33、 agreeable to the user. Laying length shall not be lessthan 99% of the stated quantity, when measured in accordancewith 8.3 at 73F + 3.6F (23C + 2C).6.2.6 Pipe StiffnessThe pipe shall have a minimum pipestiffness of 46 psi (320 KPa) at 5% deflection, when tested inaccordance with 8.6.6.2.7 ImpactPip

    34、e specimens shall be tested in accordancewith 8.7. The test specimens, when examined under normallight and the unaided eye, shall show no splitting or cracking.The minimum pipe impact strength at 73F (23C) shall be 140ft-lbf (189 J).6.2.8 FlatteningThere shall be no evidence of splitting,cracking, b

    35、reaking, or separation of the ribs, seams, orcorrugations, when pipe is tested in accordance with 8.8.6.3 Fittings and Joining System Requirements:6.3.1 The fittings shall not reduce or impair the overallintegrity or function of the pipeline. only fittings made to thisspecification and couplers supp

    36、lied or recommended by thepipe manufacturer shall be used. Fittings fabricated from pipemanufactured according to this standard shall meet the samematerial requirements as the pipe. The outside diameters andthe corrugation pitch of products manufactured to this specifi-cation are not specified; thus

    37、, compatibility between pipe andfittings made to this specification by different manufacturersshall be verified to meet the requirements of 6.3.1 and 6.3.2.6.3.2 Joint TightnessGasketed bell and spigot type joints,when utilized with pipe joints or with fittings, shall meet therequirements of Specifi

    38、cation D3212.6.3.3 Joints made with couplers or other joining methods,installed in accordance with the manufacturers instructions,shall meet the requirements of Specification D3212.NOTE 2Fittings may be fabricated from the pipe by a variety ofprocesses including hot plate welding, spin welding or ot

    39、her processes.6.4 Long Term Strength:6.4.1 Creep Rupture StrengthSpecimens fabricated in thesame manner and composed of the same materials as thefinished pipe shall have a 50-year creep rupture tensile strengthat 73F (23C) of not less than 1000 psi (7 MPa), whendetermined in accordance with 8.11.6.4

    40、.2 Creep Modulus Specimensfabricated in the samemanner and composed of the same materials as the finishedpipe shall have a 50-year tensile creep modulus at 73F (23C)at a stress level of 500 psi (3.5 MPa) of not less than 27,000 psi(186 MPa). The creep modulus shall be determined in accor-dance with

    41、8.12.NOTE 3The 50-year creep rupture strength and 50-year creep modulusvalues, determined by the test methods in 8.11 and 8.12, are used to definethe slope of the logarithmic regression curves to describe the requiredmaterial properties sampled from the product. They are not to beinterpreted as serv

    48、uirementsThe pipe manufacturer shallprovide the purchaser with the requirements for the properinstallation of the pipe and the minimum and maximumallowable cover height for specific traffic and non-trafficloading conditions. The installation requirements shall bebased on Practice D2321with a design

    49、that satisfies the safetyfactors specified in the AASHTO LRFD Bridge DesignSpecifications, Section 12 for Thermoplastic Pipe for earth andlive loads, with consideration for impact and multiple vehiclepresences.6.6 Structural DataIf requested by the purchaser, the pipemanufacturer shall provide data to enable verification ofstructural design safety factors, including pipe profilegeometry, wall centroid, wall area, wall moment of inertia andmaterial strain limits.7.
