    3、n establishes requirements for sulfoneplastic insert fittings and copper crimp rings for three sizes(12,34, and 1) of cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) and poly-ethylene of raised temperature (PE-RT) plastic tubing. Thesefittings are intended for use in 100 psi (690 kPa) cold- andhot-water distributio

    4、n systems operating at temperatures up toand including 180F (82C). Included are the requirements formaterial, molded part properties, performance, workmanship,dimensions, and markings to be used on the fittings and rings.1.2 UnitsThe values stated in inch-pound units are to beregarded as standard.     17、erial shall be polyphenylsulfone (group 03, class 1, grade 1or 2) or unreinforced polyphenylsulfone/polysulfone blends(group 04, Class 2, grade 1) or reworked plastic in accordancewith 5.1.1. Colored products can exceed the maximum specificgravity listed provided that they comply with all other prop

    18、er-ties listed in Specification D6394 Table SP.5.1.1 Since fittings specified by this standard will be used inhot-and-cold water plumbing systems, a material used tomanufacture fittings in accordance with this specification mustdemonstrate qualities consistent with that application in addi-tion to t

    19、he performance requirements of this specification.Those qualifying characteristics include, but are not limited to,an established hydrostatic design basis (HDB) or stress designbasis (SDB) in accordance with PPI TR-3 or similar rating anda demonstration of resistance to the long-term effects of thos

    20、echemicals normally found in potable water at the maximumtemperature stated in this specification.5.1.2 Rework MaterialClean rework material of the samecommercial designation, generated from the manufacturersown production may be used by the same manufacturer,provided the fittings meet all of the re

    21、quirements of thisspecification. Reworked material shall not be introduced at aratio exceeding 25 %.5.2 Potable Water RequirementsProducts intended for thetransport of potable water shall be evaluated, tested andcertified for conformance with NSF/ANSI Standard No. 61 orthe health effects portion of

    22、NSF/ANSI Standard No. 14 by anacceptable certifying organization when required by the regu-latory authority having jurisdiction.5.3 Crimp RingsCrimp rings shall be manufactured andmarked in accordance with the requirements of SpecificationF1807.6. Molded Part Properties6.1 Insert CrushThe fitting in

    23、sert shall not crack, split, orshatter when tested in accordance with 12.1.6.2 SplayThe molded part shall be free of visible splayexcepting some slight blushing at the gate location.7. Performance Requirements7.1 GeneralAll performance tests shall be performed onassemblies of fittings, crimp rings,

    24、and PEX tubing. Fittingsand crimp rings shall meet the material and dimensionalrequirements of this standard. PEX tubing shall meet therequirements of Specification F876. Assembly of test speci-mens shall be in accordance with Section 10. Use separate setsof assemblies for each performance test requ

    25、irement.7.2 The following sections of Specification F877 constitutea part of this specification:7.2.1 Hydrostatic Burst,7.2.2 Hydrostatic Sustained Pressure Strength,7.2.3 Thermocycling,7.2.4 Excessive Temperature-Pressure Capability, and7.2.5 Test Methods.7.3 In addition, when a section with a titl

    26、e identical to thatreferenced in 7.2 appears in this specification, it containsadditional requirements that supplement those appearing inSpecification F877.8. Dimensions8.1 Dimensions and TolerancesThe dimensions and tol-erances of fittings shall be as shown in Fig. 1, when measuredin accordance wit

    27、h 11.18.1.1 AlignmentThe maximum angular variation of anyopening shall not exceed 1 off the true centerline axis.8.1.2 Tapered ThreadsFitting threads shall be AmericanNational Standard Taper Pipe Thread Form conforming toSpecification F1498.8.1.3 Straight ThreadsStraight pipe threads, intended forth

    28、e making of a gasketed seal with taper pipe threads, shall beAmerican National Straight Pipe Thread for Fixtures (free-fitting mechanical joints), NPSM, and conform to ASME B1.20.1.9. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 The sealing surfaces of the insert shall be smooth andfree of foreign materia

The fitting walls shall be free ofcracks, holes, blisters, voids, foreign inclusions, or otherdefects that are visible to the unaided eye and that affect thewall integrity.9.2 Except for the insert, the molded part shall be free offlash in excess of 0.005 in. (0.13 mm). Flash, mismatch, andwitnes

    30、s mark requirements for the insert shall be in accordancewith Fig. 1.10. Assembly10.1 Crimp JointsInsert fittings shall be joined to PEXtubing by the compression of a copper crimp ring around theouter circumference of the tubing forcing the tubing materialinto annular spaces formed by ribs on the fi

    31、tting. Insert fittingsand crimp rings shall meet the dimensional and materialrequirements of this standard. PEX tubing shall meet therequirements of Specifications F876. The dimensions andout-of-roundness of the crimp ring after it has been crimpedshall be in accordance with Table 1.10.1.1 Crimping

    32、ProcedureTo affix the insert fitting to thetubing with the crimp ring, the crimping procedure shall be asfollows: slide the crimp ring onto the tubing, insert the ribbedend of the fitting into the end of the tubing until the tubingcontacts the shoulder of the fitting or tube stop. The crimp ringshal

    33、l then be positioned on the tubing so the edge of the crimpring contacts the shoulder of the fitting or tube stop. The jawsof the crimping tool shall be centered over the crimp ring andthe tool shall be held so that the crimping jaws are approxi-mately perpendicular to the axis of the barb. The jaws

    34、 of thecrimping tool shall be closed around the crimp ring, compress-ing the crimp ring onto the tubing. The crimp ring shall not becrimped more than once. Each crimp shall be checked todetermine conformance to the after crimped dimensionalrequirements of Table 1.F2735 09 (2016)211. Test Methods11.1

    35、 DimensionsAny randomly selected fitting or fittingsand crimp ring or crimp rings shall be used to determinedimensions. Measurements shall be made in accordance withTest Method D2122. Determine the diameters by makingmeasurements at four locations spaced at approximately 45apart around the circumfer

    36、ence.12. Molded Part Properties Test Methods12.1 Insert Crush TestUnder ambient conditions, test sixfittings of each size in accordance with 12.1.1.12.1.1 ProcedureUsing a bench vise or other suitablecompression device, place the insert of the fitting between thejaws of the vise. Close the jaws of t

    37、he vise deforming the insertuntil the opposing inside walls of the insert touch. The insertshall not crack, split, or shatter, see Fig. 3. Failure inthe retest is cause for rejection of the shipment.14. Quality Assurance14.1 When the product or product packing i

    45、s marked withtheASTM designation F2735, the manufacturer affirms that theproduct was manufactured, inspected, sampled, and tested inaccordance with this specification and has been found to meetthe requirements of this specification.15. Product Marking15.1 Quality of MarkingThe marking shall be appli

    46、edto the fittings in such a manner that it remains legible afterinstallation and inspection.15.2 Content of Marking:15.2.1 Marking on fittings shall include manufacturersname or trademark, or some other identifying mark, materialdesignation, and ASTM F2735.15.2.1.1 Where recessed marking is used on

    47、fittings, careshall be taken to see that in no case shall the marking causecracks or reduce the wall thickness below the minimumspecified.15.2.2 Marking on packaging shall include manufacturersname, fitting size, and ASTM F2735.16.
