Consensus is definedby the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), of which ASHRAE is a member and which has approved this Standard as an ANS, as“substantial agreement reached by directly and materially affected interest categories. This signifies the concurrence of more than a

Consensus requires that all views and objections be considered, and that an effort be made toward their resolution.”Compliance with this Standard is voluntary until and unless a legal jurisdiction makes compliance mandatory through legislation. METHOD OF TESTING WATER PRESSURE DROPF1.1 The temperatures and pressures of water entering andleaving the chilled beam shall be measured by the appa

、ratus asillustrated in Figure F-1. The connecting piping shall be thesame size as the chilled-beam supply and return connections.F1.2 Temperature measuring instruments shall be placed soas to measure the temperature of the water entering and leav-ing the beam. The liquid lines shall be insulated at

、and adja-cent to the temperature measuring instruments. Suitableinsulation having an R-value of 4.5 ft2Fh/Btu (RSI of 0.79m2C/W) or greater shall be applied from the unit under testto at least 6 in. (150 mm) upstream of the inlet temperaturesensor and 6 in. downstream of the outlet temperature senso

、r.Temperature sensor stems shall be insulated. To minimizepossible temperature stratification, appropriate mixers, suchas “static mixers,” shall be inserted in the inlet and outlet liq-uid lines upstream of the temperature measuring instruments.Alternatively, two close-coupled 90 degree elbows justu

、pstream of the temperature measuring instruments can serveas mixers provided that the water velocity at the mixing sec-tion is not below 1 ft/s (0.3 m/s).F1.3 Suitable means shall be provided for determining theliquid absolute pressure entering the beam and the liquidpressure drop through the beam a

、nd measurement apparatusas shown in Figure F-1. The piezometer rings shall be locatedand constructed in accordance with the dimensions shown inFigure F-1. Pressure taps may be used in lieu of piezometerrings. The test setup measurement of pressure drop betweenpiezometer rings or pressure taps shall

、be reduced by thepressure drop of the total length of pipe between the piezome-ter rings or pressure taps and the beam. The piping loss shallbe determined by calibration of the measurement apparatus. Addendum b to Standard 200-2015Revise Section 4 as follows (I-P and SI).Modify Section 7 as shown (I

、d 200-2015The pressure drop in the test measurement apparatus atthe test flow, including any pipe between the beam and themeasuring devices, shall be calculated and subtracted fromthe measurement. 37、ANSI/ASHRAE Addendum b to ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 200-2015 3(This is a normative annex and is part of the standard.)NORMATIVE ANNEX GWATER-SIDE PRESSURE DROPMEASUREMENT PROCEDURENORMATIVEG1. PURPOSEThe purpose of this annex is to prescribe a measurementmethod for water pressure drop and a correction me

、thod tocompensate for friction losses associated with external pipingmeasurement sections. The measurement method only appliesto pipe of circular cross section.G2. BACKGROUNDThe water-side pressure drop needs to be determined by testwith acceptable measurement uncertainty. The measuredpressure drop,

、 per this standard, will be determined by usingstatic pressure taps external to the unit in upstream and down-stream piping. When using external piping, adjustment fac-tors are allowed to compensate the reported pressure dropmeasurement. Numerous studies conclude that the determina-tion of a calcula

、ted correction term for these external compo-nents may contain significant sources of error, and thereforethe use of external correction factors will be restricted to limitthe magnitude of these potential errors. For units with smallconnection sizes, it is feasible that straight pipe sections bedire

、ctly connected to the units with adequate length to obtainstatic pressure measurements with acceptable systematicerrors due to instrument installation location.G3. MEASUREMENT LOCATIONSStatic pressure taps shall simultaneously meet all of the fol-lowing requirements.G3.1 Static pressure taps may be

、in either the unit connec-tions (i.e., nozzles) or in additional external piping providedfor the purpose of test measurements.G3.2 If using additional external piping, the piping arrange-ment shall use rigid pipe and may include fittings such aselbows, reducers, or enlargers between the pressure tap

、 loca-tions and the unit connections. Flexible hose is prohibitedbetween the unit connections and the pressure taps.G3.3 Static pressure taps shall maintain the lengths of cylin-drical straight pipe in the flow path adjacent to each pressuretap location as shown in Table G-1.a. The water pressure me

、asurement apparatus shall be con-structed in accordance with the length requirements out-lined in Table G-1.b. Construct the water pressure measurement apparatususing a material suitable for the rated pressure of the beambeing tested. Ends shall be threaded or have flanges. Anexample table for sched

、ule 40 SS piping can be found inTable G-2. c. Straight length upstream of pressure taps: Minimum of 10inside diameters or 6 in. (15 cm), whichever is greater. The 6 in. minimum is required for wrench clearance.d. Straight length downstream of pressure taps: Minimum of3 inside diameters or 6 in. (15 c

、m), whichever is greater. The 6 in. minimum is required for wrench clearance.G4. STATIC PRESSURE TAPSStatic pressure taps will be in a piezometer ring or piezometermanifold arrangement with a minimum of three taps locatedcircumferentially around the pipe, all taps at equal angle spac-ing. To avoid in

、troducing measurement errors from recirculat-ing flow within the piezometer ring, each of the pipe tap holesshall have a flow resistance that is greater than or equal to fivetimes the flow resistance of the piezometer ring piping con-nections between any pair of pressure taps. A triple-tee mani-fold

、 arrangement using four pipe tap holes is the preferredarrangement but is not required if meeting the flow resistancerequirement.G4.1 For design or evaluation purposes, flow resistance maybe estimated by resistance coefficient K factor calculationmethods as found in Crane Technical Paper No. 410. Ge

、ner-ally, manifold tubing or piping can be evaluated using the Kfactor, and pressure tap holes can be evaluated using orificeflow equations.G4.2 Provisions shall be made to bleed air out of the linesconnected to pressure measurement devices. These provisionsshall take into consideration the orientation of pressure tapsand manifold connections.G5. CORRECTION METHODMeasured water pressure drop values shall be adjusted to sub-tract additional static pressure drop due to external piping. The additional static pressure drop shall be the sum of alllosses
