、for residential applications. Its purposeis to provide a uniform method for testing in a laboratoryenvironment. Although the method of test originated inAHRI Standard 610, Performance Rating of Central SystemHumidifiers, the project committee has developed this sep-arate method of test to be used in

、dependently of the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI)rating standard so that manufacturers, specifiers, install-ers, and users of central-system residential humidifiers cantest a humidifiers capacity under a variety of conditionswith uniform results. This method of test wa

This standard employs the Interna-tional System of Units (le Systeme International dUnites)2(SI). Values sha

、ll be based on the National Institute of Stan-dards andTechnology (NIST) values which, in turn, are basedon the fundamental values of the International Bureau ofWeights and Measures. Inch-pound (I-P) units appear inparentheses following SI units. Where necessary, equivalentI-P formulas are provided.

、5.2 Dimensionless Groups. Various dimensionless quanti-ties appear in the text. Any consistent system of units is per-mitted to evaluate these quantities unless a numerical factor isincluded, in which case units shall be as specified.6. INSTRUMENTS AND METHODS OFMEASUREMENT6.1 Accuracy. The specific

、ations for instruments and meth-ods of measurement include accuracy requirements. Calibra-tion procedures shall be employed to minimize systematicerrors.6.2 Pressure. Pressure at a point shall be measured on anindicator, such as a manometer, transducer, or oil-filled gage. The instrument that is sele

、cted for a particular measurementshall meet the requirements of this standard.6.2.1 Manometers and Other Air Pressure IndicatingInstruments. Air pressure and atmospheric pressure shall bemeasured with electronic instruments, such as transducers ormanometers of the liquid column type, using inclined

、or ver-tical legs or other instruments that provide a maximum errorof 1% of the maximum observed reading or 1 Pa (0.005 in.w.g.), whichever is larger.6.2.1.1 Averaging. Since the flows and pressures mea-sured in this standard may not be steady, the pressure readingsindicated on any instrument used w

、ill fluctuate with time. Inorder to obtain a true reading, either the instrument shall bedampedorthereadingsshallbeaveragedinasuitablemanner. It is acceptable to accomplish multipoint or continuous recordaveraging using instruments and analyzers designed for thispurpose.6.2.1.2 Corrections. Manometer

、 readings shall be cor-rected for any difference in density of gage fluid from stan-dard conditions, for any difference in gas column balancingeffect from standard conditions, or for any change in length ofthe graduated scale due to temperature.Exception: Corrections are not required (1) for tempera

、-tures between 14C and 26C (58F and 78F), (2) forlatitudes between 30 and 60, and (3) for elevations upto 1500 m (5000 ft).6.2.2 Static Pressure Taps. The static pressure at a pointshall be sensed with a pressure tap of the proportions shown inFigure 1.The pressure signal is then transmitted to an i

、ndicator.6.2.2.1 Averaging. An individual pressure tap is sensi-tive only to the pressure in the immediate vicinity of the hole.In order to obtain an average, at least four identical taps shallbe manifolded into a piezometer ring. The manifold shall havean inside area of at least four times the inside area of each tap.6.2.2.2 Piezometer Rings. Piezometer rings shall beused for upstream and downstream nozzle taps, PN1and PN2,andforchambermeasurements, P1and P2,andforalternate P2.Measuring planes shall be located as shown in Figures 3 and 5.6.
