ANSI O5.5-2016 - 3 - 8 Results of Treatment 8.1 Depth of Penetration The preservative shall penetrate 100 percent of the cross-section

46、 (heartwood and sapwood) and shall be determined as follows: 8.1.1 Sampling Method A representative sample of 20 pieces of moulding shall be taken from each charge and cut at least 12 inches (305 mm) from one end. Penetration is determined by visually examining the cross section, using chemical indi

Either production pieces (over-length pieces may be used) or test pieces at least 2 feet (610 mm) in length, or a combination of both may be used. 8.1.2 Surrogate Method If the foregoing Sampling Method is not possible or practical and the volume of an individual charge containi

48、ng moulding consists of more than fifty percent (50%) by volume Douglas-fir crossarms or other large timbers, the moulding shall be considered as meeting the penetration requirement if the largest members in the charge meet the penetration requirements as specified in AWPA Standard T1, Section A. 8.

49、2 Determination of Retention Retention shall be equal to or greater than the retention listed in AWPA Standard U1, Commodity Specification A, UC4A. Note that white oak treated with pentachlorophenol (PCP-A) is treated to refusal per AWPA Standard U1. Retention shall be determined as follows: 8.2.1 Sampling Method An additional 1/4 inch (6 mm) wafer shall be cut from the interior end of each penetration sample from 8.1.1 and combined for retention analysis. 8.2.2 Surrogate Method If penetration is determined by 8.1.2, above, the mouldin
