Standards designated as “ANSI“ are American National Standards as are all ISO adoptions published by ASABE. Keywords: Baskets, Capacity, Cotton, Harvester 1 Purpose and Scope 1.1 The purpose of this Standard is to provide a uniform method of expressing the following information re

、lative to cotton strippers and cotton pickers. 1.1.1 Capacity of basket. 1.1.2 Unloading height of basket. 1.1.3 Lip height of raised basket. 1.1.4 Unloading angle of basket. 1.1.5 Maximum basket height. 1.1.6 Working height. 1.1.7 Transport height. 2 Capacity 2.1 Capacity of cotton stripper and cot

、ton picker baskets shall be expressed as the total volume enclosed by the basket and lid. This volume shall be expressed in cubic meters (cubic feet) and may be determined from dimensional layout drawings. 2.2 In addition to the volumetric capacity rating, it shall be permissible to express a nomina

、l capacity in kilograms (pounds). This rating shall be determined based on a density of 80.1 kg/m3(5.0 lb/ft3) for baskets without a compaction device. 2.3 If a mechanical compaction device is used, the capacity shall be the total weight, expressed in kilograms (pounds), certified from actual tests

、conducted by the manufacturer. ANSI/ASAE S375.2 DEC1996 (R2013) Copyright American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers 2 3 Unloading Height 3.1 Unloading height H is defined as the maximum height of a 51-mm (2-in.) thick vertical side of a container which has clearance to all aspects of

、 the machine when the basket is being unloaded into the container, under the following conditions and as shown in Figure 1. Figure 1 Typical cotton harvesters 3.1.1 Machine is stationary. 3.1.2 Basket is in fully raised position. 3.1.3 The lip location is in any vertical plane falling within the con

、tainer. 3.2 Unloading height may be determined from dimensional layout drawings, and shall be expressed in meters to the nearest hundredth (feet to the nearest tenth). 4 Lip Height 4.1 Lip height HL is defined as the vertical dimension to the lip of the basket with the basket in fully raised positio

、n. This dimension may be determined from dimensional layout drawings, and shall be expressed in meters to the nearest hundredth (feet to the nearest tenth). 5 Unloading Angle 5.1 The unloading angle of cotton picker or cotton stripper baskets is the angle (a) between the floor of the basket (unloadi

、ng surface) and the horizontal when the basket is in its fully raised position. This angle is shown in Figure 1 and shall be specified in degrees. 22、efined as the maximum vertical dimension that can be attained by any component on the basket during the unloading cycle with the assumption that the machine is stationary and on level ground, as shown in Figure 1. 6.2 Maximum basket height may be determined from dimensional layout drawings and shall

、 be expressed in meters to the nearest hundredth (feet to the nearest tenth). 7 Working Height 7.1 Working height is defined as the maximum vertical dimension that can be attained by any component on a cotton picker or stripper while it is harvesting in the field. 7.2 Working height may be determine

、d from dimensional layout drawings and shall be expressed in meters to the nearest hundredth (feet to the nearest tenth). 8 Transport Height 8.1 Transport height is defined as the maximum vertical dimension that can be attained by any component on a cotton picker or stripper when it is prepared for travel on a public roadway for purposes of going from farm to field or from farm to farm. 8.2 Transport height may be determined from dimensional layout drawings and shall be expressed in meters to the nearest hundredth (feet to the nearest tenth).
