Under an 8,000 pound load, the adjusting mechanism for tilt, roll, yaw, and transverse operations shall be operable by hand. The transverse operations shall require-not more than 26 pounds load on the handle

、(see 4.6.3). Under a 16,000 pound load, the adjusting mechanism shall be operable by a standard .5 inch drive wrench and shall require not more than 600 pound-inches torque with the load in any position on the rails (see 4.6.3.1). 3.3.3 Side load. While under a static load of 8,000 pounds, the trail

Sampling inspection, as part of manufacturing operations, is an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance to requirements, however, this does not authorize submission of known defe

、ctive material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to accept defective material. 4.2 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.3) b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4) 4.3

、 First article inspection. First article inspection shall be performed on one trailer representative of the final production item (see 3.1 and 6.3). 4.3.1 First article test sample. The first article test sample shall consist of one trailer representative of the production equipment. It shall be tes

、ted at a laboratory designated by the contractors plant under the supervision of the procuring activity. 4.3.2 First article tests. The first article tests shall consist of all tests as specified in paragraph 4.6. 4.4 Quality conformance inspection. Quality conformance inspection shall consist of th

、e individual tests as specified in paragraph 4.6. 4.5 Packaging inspection. The preservation, packaging, packing, and marking of the equipment shall be subjected to inspection and test to determine compliance with the requirements of section 5 of this specification. The contractor shall provide the

、necessary facilities and supplies for inspections and tests made prior to final acceptance. 4.6 Test methods. 4.6.1 Examination of product. The trailer shall be visually inspected to determine compliance with the requirements specified herein with respect to material, workmanship, applicable drawing

、s, preparation of trailers and application of protective finishes and markings. 4.6.2 Static load tests. The trailer shall be subjected to a static load of 16,000 pounds. The center of gravity of the load shall be 18 inches above the center of the parallel rails and applied to two points on each rai

、l which are 60 +/-2 inches apart. The load shall be raised to maximum height with spacers and lowered to the low position while loaded. The lifts provided on the wheels shall also be subjected to this static load and operated through their entire range. No damage shall result from the static load. T

、he lift cylinders shall show no leaks around their seals and the hydraulic system shall be capable of handling these entire loads. 5 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-MIL-T-26225B m 9999906 1997871 bTT m MIL-T-26225B (USAF) * 4.6.3 Tilt

、, roll, yaw and transverse tests (8,000 lb.). The tilt, roll, yaw, and transverse mechanism shall be operated through their entire ranges and shall be tested under an 8,000 pound-load. The adjusting mechanism shall be operated by hand without the use of tools or auxiliary support mediums. The winch

、drive shall be demonstrated by rolling this from each end of the rails. The maximum load on the handle that is required to perform transverse operations shall not exceed 26 pounds. * 4.6.3.1 Tilt, roll, yaw and transverse tests (16,0001b.). The tilt, roll, yaw and transverse mechanisms shall be oper

A side load of 1,200 pounds shall be applied at the side of the rails. The trailer shall not show permanent deformati

、on, tip, or overturn when the 1,200 pound side load is applied. The trailer shall not be tied down during this test. 4.6.5 Endurance test. An endurance test shall be conducted on the hydraulic system of the trailer. The test shall consist of 5 cycles of raising 8,000 pounds. One cycle shall consist

、of raising the trailer from collapsed height to the fully extended height and return to the collapsed position. At the end of the endurance test, the force required at the end of the pump handle(s) to raise the 8,000 pound shall not exceed 75 pounds each. 4.6.6 Settling test. After the endurance tes

、t, the cylinder settling rate shall not exceed .O625 inch per hour. The settling rate shall be measured at 10, 50, and 90 percent of the height adjustment. 5. PACKAGING * 5.1 Preservation. Preservation shall be level A, C or Commercial as specified (see 6.2). * 5.1.1 Level A. The trailer shall be pr

、eserved and packaged in accordance with MIL-V-62038. * 5.1.2 Level C.
