DEFINITIONS 3.1 Lubricant. The term lubricant as stated herein 1S defined as any solid, fluid, or semHluld material that performs a

    21、lubricatlng or related specialty function. Such materials include lubricating oils, greases, hydraulic fluids, damping fluids, dielectric coolants, antl-seize compounds, corrosion preventives, and bonded or unbonded solid films. 3.1.1 Standard lubricant. A standard lubricant as stated herein is defi

    22、ned as a lubricant which is specifically authorized by this standard, and which is qualified or acquired 1n accordance with only those federal or military specifications or offlcial purchase descriptlons which are llsted in MIL-HDBK-275, MIL-HOBK-113, MIL-HOBK-267, MIL-STD-454, Requirement 43, or OD

    23、 3000. 3.1.2 Nonstandard lubricant. A nonstandard lubricant as stated herein is defined as any ubricant other than those defined as standard lubricants in 3.1.1. 3.2 Flight vehicles. Flight vehicles as stated herein are defined as military aircraft, miss1les, or space veh1cles and the associated pro

    24、pulsion systems used 1n the vehicle. 3.3 Ground euipment.     25、IL-STD-838C 30 December 1983 3.4 Associated equiement 5ocldted equipment as stated herein is defined as airborne or auxillary ground equipment that functions as part of, in conjunction with, or in direct support of flight or surface vehicles. 3.5 Electrical equipment. Electrical equipment as stated

    26、herein is defined as equipment designed in accordance with MIL-STD-454. 3.6 Shipboard equipment. Shipboard equipment as stated herein is defined as all equipment in use aboard ships and small craft. Specifically excluded is equipment used aboard deep submergence vehicles. 4. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 4.1

    27、 Lubrication ,selection responsibility. The prime contractor shall be responsible for the selection of suitable lubricants for equipment defined in section 3, including that of subcontractor-manufactured items. fhis provision does not apply to Government furnished equipment. 4.2 Inspection of lubric

    28、ants. Conditions for inspectlon and acceptance of lubricants selected in accordance with this standard shall be as stated in the applicable product speciflcation. 4.2.1 Lubricants properlt identified. Lubricants properly identified by tamps, tags, or signed s ipping documents as having been previous

    29、ly inspected by a Government quality assurance representative, may be accepted at the receiving contractors plant without further inspection, except for checking quantities, carnage in shlpment, and serial number of seals, when applicable. 5. DETAILED REQUIREMENTS 5.1 Materials 5.1.1 Standard lubric

    30、ants. Consistent (except as noted in 5.1.2) with established performance requirements of the end item, all lubrlcants used in military equipment shall be standard lubricants seletted in order of precedence established in MIL-STD-143. 5.1.2 Nonstandard lubricants. The use of nonstandard lubricants wi

    31、ll only be approved by the contracting activity in anyone of the following instances: a. Potentially suitable standard lubricants have been tested by the contractor or his vendor in the application and found to be inadequate for the minimum performance requirempnts of the equip ment involved. The co

    32、ntractor shall furnish the contracting activity with a report of the results of tests which indicate that the standard lubricants are inadequate for the application. Such a report shall include a comparison of the results of tests of both the standard and nonstandard lubricants. 3 Provided by IHSNot

In the event that a nonstandard lubricant is proposed for use, the contractor shall prepare and maintain supplemental data as specified 1n 5.3.1. Such data shall be prepared simultaneously with the lubrlcatlon list require

    36、d in 5.3. 5.1.2.2 Restriction of nonstandard commercial products. It is the general POllCy within the DOD that every effort should be made by equipment developers to use existing standard lubricants, flulds, and corrosion preventatives. It is most 1mportant that slmllar or dupllcatlVe materials be p

    37、recluded from entering the m111tary supply system. Military and federal specification products are deslgned to satisfy rqulrements for equipment operations throughout the world. Ind1scrlminate use of commerclal nor.standard products or proprietary products Cdn lead to a variety of problems creating

    38、not only increased logist1CS and supply difflcultle, but more importantly, performance malfunctioning of crit1cal equipmpnt systems. fhe use of any commercial nontandard product should be considered only after it has been determined that no suitable military or federal specification equivalent exist

    39、s within the supply system. lf a single source commercial nonstandard lubrlcant is required, the using activ1ty shall be required to submlt a sole source justiflcatlon to the procurlng actlvlty. 5.1.3 Naval Air lubncants. Unless otherwise authorized by Naval Air Systems Comrnand-:-;-ijbr;cants used

    40、for tlaval flight vehicles shall be restricted to those listed 1n MIL-HDBK-275. 5.1.4 Naval Sea lubricants. Unles$ otherwise authorized by Naval Sea Systems Command, lubricants used in h1pboard equlprnent shall be restricted as follows: 5.1.4.1 General equipment lubricants. For all equipment other t

    41、han ordnance or electronic equipment, lubricants shall Le restricted to those listed in MIL-HDBK-267. 5.1.4.2 Ordnance equipment lubricants. Use of lubricants other than those permitted by 5.1.4 must be specifically approved by the acquiring activity. Each request for a deviation from the use of standard lubricants shall include reasons why standard lubri

    43、cants cannot be used and what design changes would be required to allow the use of a standard lubricant. Deviations from the use of standard lubricants will be considered if: a. The specific part requiring such lubrication is initially lubricated by the manufacturer and does not require relubricatio

    44、n during repa1r or maintenance. b. The equipment is of a design already approved by the acquiring activity and changing the lubr1cant will require a design change. 5.1.4.4 Lubricant deviatio procedure. In the event that a lubricant other than one permitted by 5.1.4 is proposed for use, the contracto

    45、r shall prepare and maintain supplemental data as specified in 5.3.1. Such data shall be prepared simultaneously with the lubrication list required by 5.3 and shall include the following: a. Identification of the lubricant (manufacturers name, lubricant number, information, other identifying data).

    46、b. Identification of equipment to be lubricated and the specific function(s) of the equipment(s) affected by the lubricant(s). Such information will also identify the applicable Project Manager and the prime or subcontractor for the equipment(s). c. Information as to why an existing standard lubrica

    47、nt cannot be used and what requirments eX1st for the use of standard lubes unde the equipment contract. d. Anticipated annual usage of the lubricant (volume of lube and dollar cost). e. Certification that potential standard substitute lubricants have been evaluated. 5.1.5 Electronic eguipmen!. Unles

    48、s otherwise authorized by the acquiring activity, lubricants used for electronic equipment shall be restricted to those listed 1n MIL-STD-454, Requirement 43. 5.1.6 Lubr1cants for Army ground euipment. Unless otherwise authorized by the Army Mobility Equipment Researc and Development Command, lubricants used for ground equipment systems shall be restricted to those 11s
