SCOPE. This CID describes a Telephone Test Set (TTS),
、also known as a “Span-Repeater Test Set”, which monitors and tests T-carrier systems by performing error detection, fault isolation, and repeater testing. This CID outlines the minimum requirements for this Telephone Test Set. Only those manufacturers which offer products that meet or surpass the fo
、llowing requirements are qualified per this CID. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS. The TTS covered by this CID shall be commercially-available equipment modified to the extent necessary to meet the following description. The TTS offered to meet this CID will be fully assembled upon delivery and capable of
、 being bid sample tested within the accuracies, limits, and specifications as follows: 2.1 Method of operation. The TTS shall combine automatic fault location with error detections, conduct counting and analysis, and transmit fault locating patterns. Beneficial comments, recommendations, additions,
、deletions, clarifications, etc., and any data which may improve this document should be sent to: Technology distribution is unlimited. Power consumption shall not exceed 250 VA. 2.3 Safety and Environm ental. This test equipment shall be solid state and enclosed to provide protection from
、 electrical shock. During operation of this test equipment, all electric- ally conductive external surfaces shall be at earth ground potential. Safety grounding shall include precautions when RFI filters and input power cables are used. 2.3.2 Leakage Current Protection. Protection shall be provided
、from leakage current in excess of from any accessible conductive parts of equipment (including control shafts with knobs broken or removed and recessed calibration or adjustment controls) to either pole of the power source for any position of the power switches. 2.4 Preconditioning. Each TTS shall b

The calibration interval shall be a period of one year or greater based on an operating ti
、me of 2,000 hours. These adjustments shall be provided by variable value components which are adjustable by simple means. The calibration by substitution of selected components or parts is unacceptable. The calibration adjustments shall be accessible without removal of the instrument case or modules
、. 2.6 Perform ance Characteristics. This test set shall be capable of meeting or exceeding the measurement parameters listed below: 2.6.1 Test Capability. TTS shall be able to test office and line repeaters, perform span line fault location, and performance tests on T1 and T1 C systems. The transmit
