、implementation of EN ISO 15612:2018. It is identical to ISO 15612:2018. It supersedes BS EN ISO 15612:2004, which is withdrawn.BSI, as a member of CEN, is obliged to publish EN ISO 15612:2018 as a British Standard. However, attention is drawn to the fact that during the development of this standard,
、 the UK committee voted against its approval. When a standard welding procedure specification (SWPS) is applied, the user follows a welding procedure specification based on welding procedure qualification tests carried out by another organisation. Therefore, the user does not benefit from the experie
、nce acquired through the development and qualification of the welding procedure specification itself. As a consequence the UK committee is of the opinion that the application of SWPSs should be limited to parent material groups and thicknesses that are simple to weld and tolerant to deviations to th
、e specified welding variables. The UK committee is particularly concerned with the limits on the use of SWPSs specified in EN ISO 15612:2018 for parent material thickness (Clause 4.2.2) and parent material groups (Clause 4.2.4). Caution is required to avoid detrimental metallurgical effects when SWPS
、s are applied for welds between ISO/TR 15608 parent material groups 1.2, 1.3, 11.1, 22.1 and 22.2 and with parent material thickness(es) in the range 20-50 mm.In addition to this standard, the UK committee recommends consulting BS EN ISO 15614-1:2017 as an additional source of information. The UK par
