An official IEEE document at any point in time consists of the current edition of the document

When a document is more than ten years old and has not undergone a revision process, it is reasonable to conclude that its contents, although still of some value,

26、 do not wholly reflect the present state of the art. Users are cautioned to check to determine that they have the latest edition of any IEEE standard. In order to determine whether a given document is the current edition and whether it has been amended through the issuance of amendments, corrigenda,

Patents Attention is called to the possibility that implementation of this standard may require use of subject matter covered by

If a patent holder or patent applicant has filed a statement of assurance via an Accepted Letter of Assurance, then the statement

Letters of Assurance may indicate whether the Submitter is willing or unwilling to grant licenses under patent rights without compensation or under reasonable rates, with reasonable terms and conditions that

Introduction This introduction is not part of IEEE Std C37.30.1a-2017, IEEE Standard Requirements for AC High-Voltage Air Switches Rated Above 1000 VAmendment 1: Criteria for acceptance. It is common practice in the

41、 disconnect switch industry to use contacts comprised of metals other than copper as the actual contact surface. This is because copper oxidizes easily and leaves a very high surface resistance leading to contact overheating and eventual failure. A precious metal like silver also oxidizes but its ox

42、ide resistance remains very low, making silver the most common metal specified for disconnect switch contact surfaces. Other high conductivity materials could be used. Numerous open and close operations of the switch can wear through the silver (or other) contact surface, exposing copper that has the abovementioned failure mode. The current terminology “undue wear” is sufficiently vague as to cause uncertainty in evaluating mechanical operations test performance. This amendment provides additional information and test criteria. 7 Copyright 2017 IEEE. All rights reserved.
