    34、. The object of IEC is to promote international co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To this end and in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications, Technical Reports, Publicly Available Sp

    35、ecifications (PAS) and Guides (hereafter referred to as “IEC Publication(s)”). Their preparation is entrusted to technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested in the subject dealt with may participate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non- governmental organizat

    36、ions liaising with the IEC also participate in this preparation. IEC collaborates closely with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in accordance with conditions determined by agreement between the two organizations. 2) The formal decisions or agreements of IEC on technical matte

    44、andard IEC 60728-6 has been prepared by technical area 5: Cable networks for television signals, sound signals and interactive services, of IEC technical committee 100: Audio, video and multimedia systems and equipment. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2003 of

    45、which it constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition. The normative references were updated. The methods of measurement for optical power and return loss were substituted by references to other standards. Th

    46、e method of measurement for polarization dependent loss was deleted. 60728-6 IEC:2011(E) 7 A method of measurement for carrier-to-crosstalk ratio (CCR) was added. The methods of measurement for CSO and CTB of optical amplifiers were substituted by a method of measurement for microscopic gain tilt of

    47、 optical amplifiers. This parameter can be used for calculating the second order distortion of optical amplifiers according to the method described in the new Annex B. New classes for optical transmitters and receivers have been defined. The text of this standard is based on the following documents:
