LP-Gas is
10、 asdefined in the Standard Specification for Liquefied Petroleum (LP) Gases, ASTM D1835. These systemsare contained on a common base or skid and are intended for outdoor use only.1.2 Container systems are limited to a container liquid capacity of 1200 gallons (4543 L) and are intendedto operate at a
11、 maximum container pressure of 250 psig (1.7 MPag).1.3 Container systems are evaluated in accordance with the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code, NFPA 58.All wiring and electrical utilization equipment provided as part of the container system is evaluated inaccordance with the National Electrical Code, NF
12、PA 70. Supplement SA includes a correlation sheet forsome clauses in the referenced codes correlated to the requirements in this outline.1.4 These requirements do not cover the following:a) Tank systems utilizing underground tanks or remote-located tanks;b) Tank systems intended to be installed and
13、used in bulk plants;c) Tank systems intended for marine or aircraft refueling;d) Tank systems intended to be used with a motor generator;e) Tank systems intended for use inside buildings;f) Tank systems intended to dispense fuel by gravity feed;g) Field installed items such as emergency shut off dev
14、ices, field installed sumps, field piping,field wiring, islands, or protective bollards (posts);h) Tank foundations or anchoring methods which may be required to prevent uplift due toflooding, or movement due to wind or seismic forces;i) Corrosion protection of the system components or piping due to

20、ALVE A type of excess flow valve that musthave its mating fitting connected to allow flow of fluid. It is intended to be installed into a container openingto allow for fluid evacuation.3.3 CONTAINER A vessel that is intended to store LP-Gas at the site where it is intended to bedispensed into other
21、vessels.3.4 CONTAINER APPURTENANCES Devices that serve to provide safety or control functions for thecontainer system and located in container openings.3.5 CONTAINER ASSEMBLY An assembly consisting of a certified ASME Code container providedwith fittings for all tank openings including a filler valv
22、e, a safety-relief valve, a service-line shutoff valve,excess flow valves, a liquid-level gauging device, and a protective housing. 23、WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL3.6 CORE COMPONENT A mandatory device included with each tank system that allows the systemto function in the intended manner.3.7 EMERGENCY SHUT-OFF VALVE A shutoff valve that is provided with a thermal and a manualmeans of closing and that provides for closing of the valve
24、 from a remote means accessible to the user.3.8 EXCESS FLOW CHECK VALVE (or EXCESS FLOW VALVE) A valve designed to close when theliquid or vapor passing through it exceeds a prescribed flow rate.3.9 FILLER VALVE A type of valve connected to a container that is intended under normal operationto allow
25、 fluid flow into a container for filling purposes, but not out of the container.3.10 FLEXIBLE CONNECTOR A short length of hose that connects core components and/or sectionsof piping in a manner that allows for flexing to withstand vibration and other forces anticipated in use.3.11 INTERNAL VALVES Th
26、e primary shutoff device that is connected at the container opening. Theseat and seat disc of the excess flow valve portion of this device are physically located within the containershell such that damage to the external portion will leave the seat and seat disc undisturbed. The deviceshall be capab
27、le of remote closure.3.12 LIQUID LEVEL GAUGE, FIXED A liquid level indicator using a positive shutoff vent valve as theindicator for when the container being filled has reached the point at which the indicator communicateswith the liquid level in the container.3.13 LIQUID LEVEL GAUGE, VARIABLE A liq
28、uid level indicator that uses various means to indicatemultiple liquid levels, or a range of liquid levels, within the container.3.14 MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE WORKING PRESSURE (MAWP) The maximum pressure that is allowedto be contained within a given container.3.15 POSITIVE SHUTOFF VALVE A type of valve tha
29、t incorporates a seat and seat disc member thatwill close an internal orifice to prevent further flow of fluid through the valve in either direction.3.16 PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE A valve designed to regulate container pressure by opening torelieve pressure and reclosing to stop the release of pressure.
30、3.17 TRANSFER POINT The physical location within the container system where the act of dispensingLP-Gas from the container system to the container to be filled occurs.3.18 VEHICLE DISPENSER A device or assembly that is used to physically transfer, and measure thequantity transferred, of the LP-Gas i

32、ystem to function as intended and in accordance with the installationinstructions. Containers systems fabricated of individual core components shall comply with therequirements of this outline.4.2 Container systems may be fabricated of subassemblies that are considered complete subassemblies.These w
33、ould include a container assembly in accordance with the Standard for Container Assemblies forLP-Gas, UL 644, and a dispenser in accordance with the Standard for Power-Operated DispensingDevices for LP-Gas, UL 495.4.3 Container systems are fabricated and/or assembled in the factory. Limited field as
34、sembly of somecomponents or subassemblies, when required, shall be as detailed in the installation instructions providedwith each tank system. Field welding to saddle plates, lugs, or brackets that are attached to the containerby the container manufacturer is allowed, but there shall be no field wel
35、ding directly to the containersurface.4.4 Attachments designed to support equipment, such as piping mounting brackets, shall be designedwith a minimum safety factor of two, based on the anticipated load. The design strength of the attachmentshall be verified by review of structural drawings bearing
36、the stamp of a registered professional engineer.4.5 Stairs, ladders, runways, platforms, guardrails, and handrails shall comply with the constructionrequirements in the Occupational Safety and Health Standards, Title 29 of the Code of FederalRegulations, Part 1910, Subpart D, Sections 1910.23 to 191
37、0.27, as applicable. Ladders, steps, anddedicated work spaces (as classified by OSHA) on container systems shall be provided with guardrails forthe protection of maintenance personnel.4.6 All materials used in the construction of a container system that come in contact with the stored fluidsor vapor
38、s shall be compatible with those fluids or vapors. Gray cast iron and nonmetallic materials shallnot be used for fluid or vapor confining parts. Pressure confining metal parts of container appurtenances,other than fusible links and gauge bodies, shall have a melting point of 816C (1500F).Exception:
39、Components or subassemblies complying with the applicable component or subassemblyrequirements in accordance with 2.1.1 do not need to comply with this requirement.4.7 All container appurtenances shall have a minimum pressure rating of 250 psig (1.7 MPag). Othervalves and devices shall have a minimu
40、m pressure rating of 250 psig if located prior to the pump and 350psig (2.4 MPag) if located after the pump. These ratings apply as indicated to all parts of the systemunless otherwise noted in this outline.4.8 Gaskets used within or at the shell wall of the container shall be resistant to the actio
41、n of LP-Gas andshall have a minimum melting point of 816C (1500F), or shall be protected against fire exposure.Gaskets used within other equipment in the system shall comply with the applicable requirements forgaskets in the component or subassembly requirements as indicated in 2.1.1.NOVEMBER 21, 20

43、mpliance with the ASMEBoiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 1, 1989 Edition, with the exception of UG 125 136 containers which are not allowed. The minimum design pressure of the container shall be 250 psig(1.7 MPag). The container shall be provided with sufficient openings for the
44、 intended service and theseopenings shall be located in the shell or the heads of the container, or within a manhole cover. No heatingor cooling coils shall be provided within the container. As an alternative, a container assembly that isshown to comply with the requirements in the Standard for Cont
45、ainer Assemblies for LP-Gas, UL 644, isnot required to comply with the requirements in this section and the container appurtenances associatedwith that container assembly are considered to comply without further evaluation.5.2 A container shall be provided with a fill opening, a withdrawal opening,
46、and all other openings asneeded to perform its function. The fill opening shall be fitted with a filler valve as indicated in 11.4. Awithdrawal opening shall be fitted with a combination of a Positive shutoff valve, 11.6, an Excess flowcheck valve, 11.3, and an Emergency shutoff valve, 11.7. As an a
47、lternative, a withdrawal opening fittedwith an actuated liquid withdrawal Excess flow/backflow/check valve, 11.3, is considered to comply.5.3 All openings in a container shall be safeguarded by internal valves, positive shutoff valves incombination with automatic excess-flow valves, or positive shut
48、off valves in combination with backpressure check valves, except for the following:a) Plugged openings;b) Safety relief valve connections;c) Liquid level gauge connections as specified;d) Pressure gauge connections as specified; ore) Positive shutoff valve connections, as specified.5.4 A container s
49、hall not be constructed with more than two plugged openings. Such openings shall benot larger than 2-inch nominal pipe size and shall be closed by steel pipe plugs before the containersystem is shipped.5.5 An opening in a container for a connection or a valve or other accessory, except for a bolt-on type ofliquid level gauge connection, shall be threaded in accordance with the Standard for Pipe Threads,General Purpose, ANSI/ASME B1.20.1, or may be provided by a joint of other design if equivalent instrength and resistance to leakage.5.6 A ri
