    7、fire extinguishersintended for use on residential cooking equipment. Tests for extinguishers rated for Class A, Class B,Class C and Class K are covered in the Standard for Rating and Fire Testing of Fire Extinguishers,ANSI/UL 711 CAN/ULC-S508.1.2 Fire extinguishers, fire extinguishing agents, or bot

    8、h shall also comply with the requirements forconstruction and performance as applicable to specific types, designs, sizes, and arrangements shall alsocomply with the applicable extinguisher product Standard. Such additional requirements are not within thescope of these requirements.2 Units of Measur

    9、ement2.1 The metric unit shall be designated as the official unit for purposes of this outline. Where values ofmeasurement are specified in both SI and English units, either unit is used. In cases of dispute, the metricunit shall be used.3 Undated References3.1 Any undated reference to a code or sta

    10、ndard appearing in the requirements of this standard shall beinterpreted as referring to the latest edition of that code or standard. Any undated reference to a code orstandard appearing in the requirements of this outline shall be interpreted as referring to the latest editionof that code or standa

    11、rd.4 Glossary4.1 For the purpose of this outline, the following definitions apply.4.2 AUTO-IGNITION TEMPERATURE The temperature at which the test fuel ignites automatically.4.3 GAS POINT The point in time when the discharge changes from the extinguishing agent alone toa gas and extinguishing agent c

    13、e Test Residential Range Top Test Apparatus6.1 Cooking range6.1.1 Two residential cooking ranges are to be used for the fire tests. A typical cooking range is illustratedin Figure 6.1. One range is to be an electric type and the second is to be a gas type. Each range is to becommercially available,

    14、intended for residential use and have four heating elements or burners.This is generated text for figtxt.6.2 Test vessels6.2.1 The following test vessels are to be used for these tests:a) A 330 356 mm (13 14 in) diameter (top of skillet) by 51 mm (2 in) high cast iron skillet;b) A 254 mm (10 in) dia

The griddle is permitted to be fabricated to accommodate the sizerequirements.7 Test Method for Fire Extinguishment Tests7.1 Extinguisher preparation7.1.1 Representative samples of extinguisher units are to be subjected to the extinguishment testsspecifie

    21、 6, Fire Test Residential Range Top Test Apparatus.7.2.2 Fuels used in the test vessels are to be vegetable oil and peanut oil having a minimum auto ignitiontemperature of 363C (685F) when measured with a thermocouple located 12.7 mm (1/2 in) below the oilsurface and not closer than 76 mm (3 in) fro

    22、m the vessel walls. The amounts of test fuels to be utilizedare specified in Table 7.1.8 Extinguishment Tests8.1 General8.1.1 The tests shall be conducted in a relatively draft free area of a room having a minimum ambienttemperature of 10C (50F). The range shall be positioned within the test room su

    23、ch that walls orobstructions shall be located at least1m(3ft.) away from the range.8.1.2 An extinguisher unit is to be tested using arrangements and the test vessels as described in 6.2 andTable 7.1.8.1.3 When tested as specified in 8.1.3 8.1.9, an extinguisher unit shall:a) Cause the flame in the t

    24、est vessel to be completely extinguished;b) Not permit reignition of the oil for 15 minutes; andc) If the test vessel is tested with a thermocouple inserted in the cooking oil (see 7.2.2), causethe temperature of the oil to decrease below its observed auto-ignition temperature.8.1.4 Separate fire te

    25、sts are to be conducted using the test vessel and oil types as described in Table7.1. For each test, the test vessel is to be filled with the specified amount and type of oil and positionedon a burner whose location is considered to be most difficult to achieve extinguishment.8.1.5 The range top bur

    26、ner for the test vessel is to be adjusted to the maximum intensity position andallowed to heat the test vessel at a rate not less than 6C (12F) per minute at temperatures of 260 316C (500 600F) when measured with the thermocouple positioned in accordance with 7.2.2, until theoil auto ignites. The te

    27、st vessel shall be uncovered during the heating process. An external heat sourceis permitted to be applied to attain this heating rate.8.1.6 The extinguisher is to be discharged onto the fire after the test vessel has burned freely for aminimum of 1 minute after auto ignition with all heating source

    28、s continued to be applied.8.1.7 The extinguisher shall be continuously discharged onto the vessel from an initial distance of 1.5 m(5 ft) and no greater than a 45 degree angle from the center of the vessel until the extinguisher iscompletely discharged. After the initial discharge, the distance is p

    29、ermitted to be reduced, but shall notextend beyond the edge of the cooking vessel.     30、THOUT PERMISSION FROM UL8.1.8 After discharge, observations are to be made for:a) Extinguishment;b) Reignition of the cooking oil; andc) A decrease in the oil temperature below the oil auto-ignition temperature.8.1.9 Based on observations made during the fire extinguishment tests described in Table

    31、7.1, some ofthe tests may be waived if a determination can be made that selected fire test arrangements arerepresentative of all tests described in Table 7.1.8.2 Cooking oil splash tests8.2.1 When tested as described in 8.2.1 8.2.5 an extinguisher unit shall:a) Cause the fire in the test vessel to b

    32、e completely extinguished; andb) cause no splashing or flaming oil outside the cooking vessel and no splashing of oil dropletslarger than 9.4 mm (3/8 in.) diameter 305 mm (12 in) past the outside surface of the cookingvessel due to the extinguisher operation.8.2.2 A clean, flat surface at least 610

    33、mm (24 in) wide is to be prepared around the test vessel to detectsplashing oil.8.2.3 The amount of oil and the test vessel for the splash test described in Table 7.1 are to be used.8.2.4 The extinguisher discharge is to commence at distance of 0.6 m (2 ft) and at a 45 degree angle fromthe center of

    34、 the vessel until the extinguisher is completely discharged.8.2.5 Foaming over the edge of the vessel and dispersion of residual extinguishing agent at gas point isacceptable performance.9 Electrical Conductivity9.1 Residential Kitchen Extinguishers shall comply with either ANSI/UL 711 CAN/ULC S508,

    36、ULMARKING10 General10.1 An extinguisher complying with the requirements in this Outline shall be marked “Residential KitchenFire Extinguisher” in addition to the other markings required by the applicable product standards.10.2 Residential Kitchen Fire Extinguishers shall not be marked with reference
