11、 ACCESSIBLE PART A part located so that it is able to be contacted by a person, either directlyor by means of a probe.5.3 TEST FAILURE Visible weakening of the test unit or component or other damage in which thestructure or component is buckled, twisted, sheared, torn, or fractured as a result of th
12、e test.CONSTRUCTION6 General6.1 A product is to be constructed so that it will have the strength and durability to withstand normal usageand to comply with the performance requirements.6.2 An exposed metal surface is to be free from sharp edges, burrs, and other features that constitute arisk of inj
13、ury to persons.6.3 All welds are to be free from undercuts, cracks, and closely spaced in-line surface porosity.7 Materials and Assembly7.1 A folding rollaway tool cart shall be constructed so that:a) User assembly and normal use do not result in a risk of fire or injury to persons; andb) The materi
14、als and components are used within their mechanical and flammability limits.7.2 Sharp edges shall not be accessible during user assembly or normal use. An accessible edge shallbe smooth and well rounded to reduce the risk of a cut-type injury when contacted during user assemblyor normal use.7.3 All
15、metal parts and fittings shall be made of aluminum or steel alloys, wrought iron, malleable iron, orother metal that is of equivalent strength for the intended purpose and shall be securely attached bymeans of rivets, bolts, screws, or other means determined to be the equivalent.7.4 Nuts shall be lo
16、ck nuts or they shall be used with lock washers.7.5 Polymeric materials shall have a minimum flammability classification of HB. The flammabilityclassification is to be determined by tests described in the Standard for Tests for Flammability of PlasticMaterials for Parts in Devices and Appliances, UL
17、 94. A material classified using 1/8-inch (3.2-mm) thickbar specimens is not prohibited from being used in thicknesses less than 1/8 inch on the cart.Exception: This requirement does not apply to the following materials:a) Wheels, casters, and caster inserts.SEPTEMBER 6, 2013 UL 2855 5UL COPYRIGHTED

19、s not exceed 0.122 inch3(2 cm3), and2) The maximum dimension does not exceed 1.18 inches (3 cm).d) Polymeric material of maximum 0.010 inch (0.254 mm) thickness.8 Protection Against Corrosion8.1 All hardware and materials shall be of a grade or alloy known to be resistant to atmospheric corrosionor
20、shall be additionally protected against corrosion.PERFORMANCE9 Tip Stability Test9.1 When the cart is placed at the center of a plane inclined to make an angle of 10 0.2 degrees withthe horizontal, it is not to tip over.9.2 The test is to be conducted on a fully assembled cart, under the following c
21、onditions:a) With the legs, wheels, casters, or similar means of support arranged in the position mostlikely to result in tip-over such as turning the caster so that the caster axle is under the cartframe versus outside of the frame area.b) With the legs, wheels, casters, or similar means of support
22、 blocked by means of a steel bar1/4 inch (6.4 mm) thick, 1 inch (25.4 mm) wide, that extends 2 inches (50.8 mm) beyond eachleg and/or caster placed under one or more of the wheels so that the cart does not roll or slideon the inclined plane.c) The cart is to be tested unloaded and loaded to the manu
23、facturers specified weight limits.d) When a supporting surface is provided with a means to secure a product (such as straps,screws or similar securement means), the securement means and any use and careinstructions are to be used when positioning the load. The load is to be placed within theconfines

25、rmal operation of the hingeand locking mechanism. The hinge and lock mechanism shall remain operable at the conclusion of thecycling.10.2 The cart is be assembled and operated in accordance with the manufacturers instructions.10.3 The cart shall be in the fully opened position and all locks, if prov
26、ided, fully engaged. The locks shallbe unlocked and the cart shall be folded into the storage position. If a lock is provided to keep the cart inthe folded position, it shall be fully engaged. The locks are to then to be unlocked and the cart is to beunfolded and placed into the open position. This
27、is one cycle.10.4 If the cart is provided with more than one lock they may be tested separately.10.5 The endurance test may be conducted manually or automated.11 Braking Test11.1 Brakes, if provided on a cart are to be tested in accordance with 11.2. The wheels are to remainlocked throughout the tes
28、t. The wheel may slide along the supporting hardwood surface but shall notrotate.11.2 The supporting surface of the cart is to be simultaneously loaded with 100 percent of the weightspecified by the manufacturer.11.3 A constant force, sufficient to move the cart from rest through a distance of 1 foo
29、t (30.5 cm), is tobe applied at a point that results in an equal distribution of force on all wheels. The test is to be performedon a plain hardwood surface consisting of a layer of nominal 3/4-inch (19-mm) thick tongue and grooveoak flooring mounted on two layers of nominal 3/4-inch (19-mm) thick p
30、lywood. The assembly is to reston a concrete floor or an equivalent nonresilient surface.12 Loading Tests12.1 The cart shall be constructed so that there is no collapse or permanent damage that results in a riskof injury to persons when the supporting surfaces are loaded as specified in 12.2.12.2 A
31、sample of each type of fully assembled cart is to be subjected to a 150 percent of the rated loadis to also be uniformly applied to the entire surface of the cart.12.3 The cart shall withstand the load without visible damage for one minute.SEPTEMBER 6, 2013 UL 2855 7UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHO
32、RIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL13 Wheel, Roller, or Caster Securement Test13.1 A wheel, roller, or caster shall be capable of withstanding a 5-lbf (22-N) pull applied as described in13.2.13.2 The 5-lbf (22-N) pull is to be applied by a weight or a steady pull
33、 for a period of 1 minute in anydirection permitted by the construction of the parts. The force is to be applied with the specimen at roomtemperature. The wheel, roller, or caster shall not pull free from its securing means.Exception: A wheel, roller, or caster that is provided with threads and scre
34、wed into the frame ormechanically secured by a nut shall not be subjected to this test.14 Radiant Panel Flame Spread Test14.1 Test criteria14.1.1 The flame spread index of a nonmetallic top shall be determined in accordance with the StandardTest Method for Surface Flammability of Materials Using a R
35、adiant Heat Energy Source, ASTM E162.14.1.2 The flame spread index shall be less than 200.14.1.3 This method provides a laboratory test procedure for measuring and comparing the surfaceflammability of materials when exposed to a prescribed level of radiant heat energy. This method isintended to meas
36、ure surface burning characteristics when exposed to fire.14.2 Test specimens14.2.1 Four test specimens, 18 inches (45.7 cm) in length by 6 inches (15.2 cm) in width, in the minimumand maximum thicknesses, are to be tested covering the thickness range to be considered. Specimens inintermediate thickn
37、esses are also to be provided and shall be tested when the results obtained on theminimum or maximum thicknesses indicate inconsistent test results.14.2.2 Material Ranges When a material is to be considered in a range of colors, densities, melt flows,or reinforcement, four specimens representing the
38、se ranges are also to be provided.14.2.3 Four specimens in the natural and in the most heavily pigmented dark color are to be provided andconsidered representative of the color range, when the burning characteristics are essentially the same.In addition, a set of specimens are to be provided in the
39、heaviest organic pigment loading, unless the mostheavily pigmented dark color includes the highest organic pigment level. When certain color pigments (forexample, red, yellow, or other color types) are known to affect flammability characteristics, they are alsoto be provided.14.2.4 Four specimens in
40、 the extremes of the densities, melt flows and reinforcement contents are to beprovided and considered representative of the range, when the burning characteristics are essentially thesame. When the burning characteristics are not essentially the same for all specimens representing therange, evaluat

42、REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULMARKINGS15 Permanence15.1 A required marking shall be legible and permanent.15.2 A required marking shall be molded, die-stamped, paint-stenciled, stamped or etched metal that ispermanently secured, or indelibly stamped lettering on a pressure-se
43、nsitive label secured by adhesivethat, upon investigation, is found to be acceptable for the application. Ordinary usage, handling, storage,and the like, of a product are considered in the determination of the permanence of a marking.15.3 Unless it has been investigated and found to be acceptable fo
44、r the application, a pressure-sensitivelabel or a label that is secured by cement or adhesive and that is required to be permanent shall complywith the requirements in the Standard for Marking and Labeling Systems, UL 969.16 Details16.1 A product shall be legibly and permanently marked with the manu
45、facturers name, trade name, ortrademark; the date or other dating period of manufacture not exceeding any three consecutive months;a distinctive catalog or model number or that which has been determined to be the equivalent; and therated working load.Each product or unit shall be clearly marked to i
46、ndicate possible combinations and the load rating for eachof these combinations.Exception No. 1: The manufacturers identification may be in a traceable code if the product is identifiedby the brand or trademark owned by a private labeler.Exception No. 2: The date of manufacture may be abbreviated or
47、 in a nationally used conventional code,or in a code affirmed by the manufacturer provided:a) The date code does not repeat in less than 20 years.b) The date code does not require reference to the manufacturers records to determine whenthe product was manufactured.16.2 If a manufacturer produces pro

49、shall be marked with legible instructions covering its intended use.17.2 The instructions shall contain only information that applies to the specific type of product and shallinclude those items in the following list that are applicable to the product.a) Before and after using, check all parts for proper function and damage to component parts.b) Any parts that have been exposed to excessive heat, as in the case of fire, should beimmediately removed from service and destroyed due to loss of structural strength.c) Do not permit oil, grease, or slippery material to accumul
