、ter of 1 inch(25.4 mm), intended to convey water or other heat transfer fluids, at a maximum working pressure of 100psig (0.69 MPa) and a maximum working temperature of 82C (180F), for the purpose of radiant heatingof floors and driveways. The hose can be installed in direct contact with combustible

、 building materials. The hose is intended to be installed in accordance with the manufacturers installation instructionsprovided with the product and any local codes.1.2 These requirements do not cover couplings or their method of attachment.1.3 These requirements do not include the heat source, mani

、folds, valves, controls, or the efficiency ofheat transfer.1.4 The fire resistance rating of a floor assembly, existing or new construction, may be adversely affectedby the installation of the heating hose or hose assemblies, unless the rating of the floor assembly incombination with the hose or hos

、e assembly has been determined and found suitable for the application. The local authorities having jurisdiction should be consulted as to the acceptability of the fire resistancerating of the floor assembly with the hose or hose assembly installed.1.5 A product that contains features, characteristic

、s, components, materials, or systems new or differentfrom those covered by the requirements in this Outline, and that involve a risk of fire, electric shock, orinjury to persons, shall be evaluated using the appropriate additional component and end-productrequirements as determined necessary to main

、tain the acceptable level of safety as originally anticipatedby the intent of this Outline. A product whose features, characteristics, components, materials, or systemsconflict with specific requirements or provisions of this Outline cannot be judged to comply with thisOutline. Where considered appr

、opriate, revision of requirements shall be proposed and adopted inconformance with the methods employed for development, revision, and implementation of this Outline.2 General2.1 Units of measurement2.1.1 If a value for measurement is followed by a value in other units in parentheses, the second val

The first stated value is the requirement.DECEMBER 8, 2006 SUBJECT 2156 5UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL2.2 Undated references2.2.1 Any undated reference to a code or standard appearing in the requir

、ements of this Outline shall beinterpreted as referring to the latest edition of that code or standard.CONSTRUCTION3 Types3.1 All hose shall consist of a rubber tube, a reinforcement of cotton or synthetic fibers, and a rubbercover.4 Internal Diameter4.1 The internal diameter of a hose shall be equa

、l to the nominal size 1/32 inch (0.8 mm) as determinedby the method described in 4.2 and 4.3.4.2 A tapered plug gauge of wood or metal having a taper of 3/8 inch per foot (31.3 mm/m) marked toindicate variations of 1/64 inch (0.4 mm) in diameter, a set of wood or metal plug gauges, straight or ballt

、ype, in increments of 0.01 inches (0.25 mm), or in some cases, an expanding ball gauge and micrometeror other equivalent means to accurately measure the expanded ball, is to be used. See 4.3.4.3 The end of the hose is to be cut square. If a tapered plug gauge is used, the plug gauge is to beinserted

、 in the hose sample until a close fit is obtained without forcing. The diameter of the gauge at theend of the sample, to the nearest 1/64 inch (0.4 mm), is to be recorded as the internal diameter of thehose. If a set of straight or ball-type plug gauges is used, the diameter of the gauge, which when

、 insertedin the hose sample gives a close fit without forcing, is to be recorded as the internal diameter of the hose.If the end of a hose is constructed or flared, the inside diameter is to be measured far enough from theend to be representative of the inside diameter by means of an expanding ball

、gauge.5 Tube and Cover5.1 General5.1.1 The tube or lining and the cover of a hose shall be made from synthetic rubber, which is referredto hereafter as rubber.5.1.2 A tube and a cover shall be of uniform thickness, and free from pitting, blisters or otherimperfections that would impair its intended

、use. This requirement is not intended to exclude the use ofa corrugated cover or wrapped cover finish.DECEMBER 8, 2006SUBJECT 21566UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL5.2 Thickness of tube and cover5.2.1 The thickness of a tube sha

The load is to be applied through a flat contact foot 0.250.01 inch

、(6.4 0.3mm) in diameter.5.2.5 To determine the thickness of the tube and cover, a strip, approximately68inches (152.4 203.2mm) long and 1 inch (25.4 mm) wide, or as close to 1 inch (25.4 mm) as possible from small diameterhose, is to be cut from the hose, and the part separated from the plies. If th

、e thickness of the part is notuniform around the circumference of the hose, the strip is to be cut from the thinnest portion of the sample.5.2.6 The strip specimen is to be buffed or skived to remove the impressions left by the fabric or braid orother surface irregularities, using the equipment desc

、ribed in 5.2.2 and 5.2.3. A series of five thicknessmeasurements are to be taken within the area from which the impressions have been removed, and themaximum reading obtained is to be taken as the thickness of the part.6 Reinforcement6.1 Plies of reinforcement shall be of cotton or synthetic fibers,

、 and shall be evenly and firmly applied overthe tube. Braids and spirals shall be thoroughly impregnated with a rubber compound that shall cause theplies to adhere firmly to each other and to the rubber tube and cover.6.2 Hose shall have at least one braid or two plies of spirals. Adjacent plies of
