    3、intenance of UL Standardsfor Safety. These revisions are considered to be non-substantive and not subject to ULs STPprocess.Text that has been changed in any manner or impacted by ULs electronic publishing system is markedwith a vertical line in the margin. Changes in requirements are marked with a

    4、vertical line in the marginand are followed by an effective date note indicating the date of publication or the date on which thechanged requirement becomes effective.A reference to UL 60730-1 and/or a Part 2 standard from that series has been added to this standard.The addition of this reference pr

    5、ovides an alternate standard for investigating components currentlycovered by UL 873 or UL 244A until October 19, 2016. This added reference will facilitate the use ofcomponents that have been investigated to the UL 60730 series. Such components have beendetermined to fulfill the requirements of the

    6、 legacy standards.UL 60730-1 (4th Edition) becomes effective on October 19, 2016. All components that were previouslyinvestigated to the requirements in UL 873 or UL 244A will have to comply with the requirements in eitherUL 60730-1 and/or a Part 2 standard from that series in order to maintain UL L

    7、isting or Recognition, asappropriate. UL 873 and UL 244A legacy controls standards will be withdrawn on October 19, 2016.This is intended to provide end product manufacturers with sufficient time to a) address the impact of thestandards changes during normal design changes over the intervening years

    8、, b) submit any modifiedproducts for investigation, and c) implement any necessary changes in production.All rights reserved.     29、y to controls that employ solid-state devices and are intended for specifiedsafety-related protective functions.1.2 These requirements address the potential risks unique to the electronic nature of a control. Equipmentor components employing an electronic feature shall also comply with the basic con

    30、struction andperformance requirements contained in the applicable end-product or component standard. Theserequirements are intended to supplement applicable end-product or component standards and are notintended to serve as the sole basis for investigating the risks of fire, electric shock, or injur

    31、y to personsassociated with a control.1.3 These requirements do not cover controls covered by end-product standards in which an electroniccontrol investigation is specified.1.4 Sections922contain standardized test methods for investigating the performance of an electroniccontrol when subjected to pa

    32、rticular environmental stresses. The suitability of each test to a given controlshall be determined by the end-product standard(s). Determination shall include an assessment of:a) Whether the control will be exposed to a particular environmental stress in its application,andb) Whether the response o

    33、f the control to a particular environmental stress is relevant to itsintended safety-related protective function in its application.2 Components2.1 Except as noted in 2.2, a component of a product covered by this standard shall comply with therequirements for that component.2.2 A component is not re

    34、quired to comply with a specific requirement that:a) Involves a feature or characteristic not required in the application of the component in theproduct covered by this standard, orb) Is superseded by a requirement in this standard.2.3 A component shall be used in accordance with its rating establis

    41、such as therisk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, in the end product application.5.6 CRITICAL FUNCTION The failure of a specific action of a control that results in a condition, suchas the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons in the end product application.5.7 DECADE 3.32

    47、nation of electrical and thermal stresses.INVESTIGATION6 General6.1 A description of the operation and safety features of the control with respect to the controlled elementshall be provided by the manufacturer and shall be used as a guide in the examination and test of thedevice. For example, the op

    48、eration of an electronic temperature limiting control might be in an inactivestate in a certain temperature range but is intended to disconnect the load from the electrical supply at ahigher predetermined temperature.6.2 A control designed for a specified safety-related protective function shall be

    49、investigated inaccordance with a four part program consisting of environmental stress tests, power cycling tests,investigation of critical components, and production-line tests.
