6、.89.6 The installation / use instructions for a ceiling suspended fan employing a integral LED light sourceshall include the word CAUTION and the following or equivalent statement: “The light source is designedfor this specific application and can overheat if serviced by untrained personnel. If any
7、servicing isrequired, the product should be returned to an authorized service facility for examination or repair.”RATIONALE FOR DECISION:LED luminaires provided as part of ceiling suspended fans differ from conventional incandescent andfluorescent light sources and therefore shall be additionally in
8、vestigated to determine their suitability in theceiling suspended fan. A current lack of standardization of LED light sources requires the source and hostceiling suspended fan to be investigated as a unit. LED light source requirements are specified in Outlineof Investigation for Light Emitting Diod
9、e (LED) Light Sources for Use in Lighting Products, UL 8750.Integral light sources are not considered to be replaceable. Theytherefore must be used in conjunction with controls specifically designed and intended for thepurpose. In addition, LED light sources require a means to con
11、duct heat away from the source.
