    4、DISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULINTRODUCTION1 Scope1.1 This Outline of Investigation covers requirements for the construction and performance of wet barrelfire hydrants intended for piping systems supplying water for fire-protection service for use on off-shore oilplatforms or similar applica

    5、tions and environments. The requirements for wet barrel hydrants in theStandard for Hydrants for Fire Protection Systems, UL 246 shall apply to these hydrants except that therequirements and tests contained herein supersede the construction requirements and the Corrosion Test,where applicable.2 Unit

    6、s of Measurement2.1 The metric unit shall be designated as the official unit for purposes of this outline. Where values ofmeasurement are specified in both SI and English units, either unit is used. In cases of dispute, the metricunit shall be used3 Undated References3.1 Any undated reference to a c

    7、ode or standard appearing in the requirements of this outline shall beinterpreted as referring to the latest edition of that code or standard.CONSTRUCTION4 General4.1 The body and exterior components of the hydrant shall be made of material having strength andcorrosion resistance equivalent to brass

    8、 complying with the Standard Specification for CompositionBronze or Ounce Metal Castings ASTM B 62 (85-5-5-5).4.1.1 Caps with corrosion resistant threads that comply with the materials specified in 4.1 shall bepermitted to have bodies made of cast iron or equivalent material.4.2 Inlets shall have no

    10、hydrants shall be subjected to the tests described in theserequirements.6 Corrosion Resistance6.1 A hydrant manufactured from material other than material having strength and corrosion resistanceequivalent to Standard Specification for Composition Bronze or Ounce Metal Castings, ASTM B 62, shallbe c

    11、apable of being operated using common tools and show no signs of galvanic corrosion after beingtested in accordance with 6.2 6.4.6.2 One sample hydrant, assembled with the required cap shall be used.6.3 The hydrant shall be supported vertically and exposed to salt spray (fog) as specified by the Sta

    12、ndardPractice for Operating Salt Spray (Fog) Testing Apparatus, ASTM B117. The apparatus used for saltspray exposure is to consist of a fog chamber of a size and shape that result in the atomization andquantity of collected solution within the limits of ASTM B117, having a salt solution reservoir, a

    13、 supply ofconditioned compressed air, a dispersing tower for producing a salt fog, specimen supports, provision forheating the chamber, and means of control. The dispersion tower is to be located in the center of thechamber and is to be supplied with salt solution and with warmed, humidified air at

    14、a pressure of 120 to130 kPa (17 to 19 psi), to disperse the salt solution in the form of a fine mist or fog throughout the interiorof the chamber. The temperature within the chamber is to be maintained between 33 and 36C (92 and97F). Condensate accumulation on the cover of the chamber shall not drop

    15、 on the test specimens, anddrops of the solution that fall from the specimens are not to be recirculated and are to be removed througha drain located in the floor of the chamber.6.4 The salt solution is to consist of 5 percent (by mass) of common salt (sodium chloride) and distilledwater. The pH val
