    34、ts inmanufactured homes.1.2 These requirements are intended to provide information as to the performance of mineral andfiberboard, gypsum wallboard or other ceiling materials when attached to a roof truss or rafter systemusing a specific fastening schedule.1.3 These requirements do not cover thermal

    35、, acoustical, flammability characteristics, and otherproperties of such materials.1.4 A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or differentfrom those in use when the standard was developed, and that involves a risk of fire, electric shock, orinjury to

    36、persons shall be evaluated using the appropriate additional component and end-productrequirements as determined necessary to maintain the level of safety for the user of the product asoriginally anticipated by the intent of this standard.2 General2.1 Units of measurement2.1.1 If a value for measurem

    41、cefinish, and tolerances, plus any variations.3.2 All ceiling material samples used for the following tests shall be selected at one time from the sameproduction run and shall be representative of the manufacturers production. Roof trusses, if used, shall:a) comply with the requirements for roof tru

    42、sses for manufactured homes, UL 1298, orb) be constructed in accordance with Section 3280.402 of the Department of Housing and UrbanDevelopment (HUD) Home Construction and Safety Standards and marked as such. Samples fortests shall be selected so as to subject the product or products most vulnerable

    43、 tononconformance under the conditions of the tests.3.3 All edge rail and top plate lumber shall be utility standard or stud grade spruce-pine-fir material or amixture.Exception: At the manufacturers option a better grade (such as construction, No. 2, No. 1, or selectstructural grade) or specie of l

    44、umber may be used. When a better grade or specie of lumber is used in thetest assembly, the installation instructions shall be marked as specified in 6.1(e).3.4 The test methods develop classifications for 12-hour shear resistance or ultimate shear resistance.4 Twelve-Hour Load Shear Resistance Test

    47、inches (19 by64 mm) in cross section may be used as shown by Figure 4.1. These braces shall not be continuous orspliced together.4.4 Each edge rail is to be trade size 1 by 3 inch actual 3/4 by 2-1/2 inch (19 by 64 mm) or trade size1 by 4 inch actual 3/4 by 3-1/2 inch (19 by 89 mm) wood members.
