CONSTRUCTION 4 General 4.1 Cabinet construction shall comply with either Metal, Section 5, Wood, Section 6, or Alternate Methods, Section 7. An

、y cabinet type shall be subject to all the performance tests in this standard. 4.2 For all construction methods, a cabinet shall be permitted to be provided with a means for attaching a ground lug, ground wire, bond wire, or other device at the base of the cabinet on the outside to provide static el

、ectric charges with a discharge path to the building ground. 4.3 For all construction methods, a cabinet shall be permitted to be provided with vents as specied in (a), (b), or (c). If included, such vents shall be provided with removable plugs that shall remain in place unless the cabinet is connec

、ted to a ventilation system. The vent location(s) shall be permitted to be: a) Two diametrically opposed side vents located on opposite sides of the cabinet. b) Two vents located on opposite sides of the back, or c) A single bottom rear vent. 30、INETS - UL 1275 5UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION OR DISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL PERFORMANCE 8 Fire Endurance Test 8.1 A storage cabinet is to be tested as described in 8.2 8.14. The cabinet shall limit the internal temperature to not more than 325F (163C).

、 All joints and seams shall remain tightly closed and any vents shall be plugged both internally and externally during the test. No conditions shall develop that indicate disintegration of parts or materials likely to affect the tightness of closure. 8.2 Representative samples of each line are to be

、 subjected to the test. If a given line of cabinets differ only in size, and not in such details as wall thickness, hinge constructions, and the like, the largest size is to be selected for test. Intermediate sizes might be required for test if the interior dimensions vary from those of the largest

、cabinet to result in a reduction of the volume by more than 50 percent. 8.3 The test enclosure is to consist of six 4 ft by 8 ft (1.2 m by 2.4 m) panels. Each panel is to be made of 18 gauge steel. Two panels are to be used for the front of the test enclosure, two panels for the back of the test enc

、losure and one panel for each side. The bottom of the enclosure is to be a concrete oor and the top is to be open. 8.4 Angle irons are to be used to stiffen the test panels and raise the panels 6 inches (152.4 mm) from the oor. To secure adjacent panels together C-clamps are to be used at the top an

、d bottom. 8.5 Holes are to be cut into the test enclosure for lighting the pilot piping and for locating thermocouples that will measure the enclosure temperature. 8.6 The piping manifold is to have two main branches. Each branch is to consist of four legs. Each leg is to have one burner assembly. T

、hree burner assemblies are to be on each long side of the test enclosure. One burner assembly is to be on each short side of the test enclosure. The test enclosure is to have a total of 8 burner assemblies. See Figure 8.1. This is generated text for gtxt. SEPTEMBER 11, 2014 FLAMMABLE LIQUID STORAGE

、OUT PERMISSION FROM UL 8.7 There is to be a main valve that controls both fuel line branches and separate valves are to control each burner pair. The main valve is to be a 2 inch valve (50.8 mm). The branches are to be constructed of 1 inch (25.4 mm) pipe and each branch is to be connected to the ma

、in valve by 2 inch (50.8 mm) exible pipe. Flexible pipe enables the burner assembly location to be adjusted based on the cabinet size. As part of the burner assembly, 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) piping is to be provided as a pilot for lighting the burners. The pilot pipes are to have one row of 1/8 inch (3.2

、mm) holes spaced 1 inch (25.4 mm) apart. U-bolts are to be used to attach the pilot piping to the burner pipe. 8.8 The burner subassembly is to consist of a 45 degree elbow, short nipple, 45 degree elbow, tee, and a short nipple and 90 degree elbow on each side of the tee. The burner assemblies are

、to be raised 6 1/2 inches (152.4 12.7 mm) from the oor and located 6 inches (152.4 mm) from the test sample. The burners are to be evenly distributed along the front and back of the sample. The burners on the sides are to be horizontally centered. See Figure 8.2. Exception: A subassembly consisting

、of a 90 degree elbow, short nipple, tee and a short nipple and 90 degree elbow on each side of the tee also complies with this requirement. This is generated text for gtxt. 8.9 The control station is to be 10 feet minimum (3.0 m minimum) from the test enclosure. Figure 8.2 Burner subassembly SEPTEMB

The test sample is to be placed in the test enclosure with

、 the test sample doors facing the long side of the test enclosure wall that has three test burners. The test sample is to be centered in the test enclosure. The sample doors are to be closed and in a locked position. The burners are to be 6 inches (152.4 mm) from the cabinet walls. The openings unde

、r the enclosure walls are to be blocked with cerawool to prevent drafts from affecting the ame and to improve the control of the heat applied to the test sample. 8.11 The air temperature 6 inches (152.4 mm) from the test sample is to be measured by six No. 20 gauge chromel-alumel thermocouples inser

、ted in nominal 3/16 inch ID (4.8 mm ID) inconel sheaths. The two thermocouples that measure the front of the test sample are to be evenly spaced horizontally and at the vertical midpoint of the sample. The thermocouple locations for the back of the sample are to be as described for the front. The th

、ermocouple for each side is to be located in the center of the sample side. 8.12 The test time is started with the pilot ignition. The pilot is to remain lit for 2 minutes while the gas ow from the main burners is started. After 2 minutes the pilot pipe valves are to be closed. The gas is to continu

、e to ow for 8 minutes. 8.13 The test enclosure gas supply is to be adjusted so that the re is well distributed over the exposed surfaces of the test sample and regulated to temperatures in accordance with the standard time-temperature curve for 10 minutes 1000F (538C) at 5 minutes and 1300F (704C) a

When shutting off the gas supply does not extinguish the re, non-destructive suppression methods are to be used, such as halon or carbon dioxide. The test sample is to cool without opening the test enclosure. 9 Sump Leakage Test 9.1 A storage cabinet shall not have external leakage following th
