    4、12-01DECISION:2 Definitions2.1 The following definitions apply in this Standard:2.3 Appliance unit - The functional part of the rechargeable battery-powered appliance that employs themotor assembly and battery assembly. The Class 2 power unit is not part of the appliance unit2.3A Automatic rechargea

    5、ble battery-powered vacuum cleaner An automatically controlled vacuumintended for household, dry pick-up, indoor use typically intended for automatic operation. Theseappliances are also known as robot vacuums. The automatic operation (auto-mode) is considered to bethe time when the robot vacuum is p

    6、erforming its programmed tasks through continuous programexecution. This type of vacuum consists of the robot battery-powered vacuum part and a docking station.The vacuum is typically provided with a motor driven brush for cleaning and motor driven wheels formovement, sensing devices/controls to det

    7、ermine the vacuums location, and sensing devices/controls todetect obstructions and stairs.2.10 Battery pack, Detachable - A battery assembly that is contained within its individual enclosure, andintended to be removed from the appliance unit for recharging or replacement purposes.2.12A Docking stat

    8、ion A cord-connected charging unit providing battery charging capabilities to theautomatic rechargeable battery-powered vacuum cleaner. This is the base unit in which the robot vacuumautomatically returns, or is returned by the user, to charge the vacuums battery. 2.25 Vehicle BatteryAdapter - a con

    9、nector intended for insertion2.25 Vehicle Battery Adapter - a connector intended for insertion into a cigarette lighter receptacle.7 Rechargeable Battery-Powered Appliances7.1 ScopeUL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL7.1.1 These re

    10、quirements apply to portable rechargeable battery-powered appliances for indoor oroutdoor use with rechargeable non-user and user replaceable batteries. The appliances and rechargeable(secondary) batteries or battery packs have a maximum rated nominal operating voltage of 30 60 V dcand a maximum cap

    11、acity of 6 12 A-h. The batteries are contained within the appliance unit or are part ofthe appliance unit as a pack. The batteries are intended to be charged by a separate Class 2 power unit,either direct plug-in or cord-connected, or via USB connection.7.1.1A These requirements also apply to automa

    12、tic rechargeable battery-powered vacuum cleanersintended for household, dry pick-up, indoor use.7.1.2 These requirements also apply to portable appliances directly supplied from a battery-poweredelectrical system of a vehicle using a vehicle battery adapter.7.1.3 2 These requirements do not include:

    13、a) portable rechargeable battery-powered appliances:1) with an integral power unit;2) using general purpose (primary, non-chargeable) batteries installed by the user;3) that are automatically or remotely controlled;b) stationary or fixed rechargeable battery-powered appliances.a) portable rechargeab

    14、le battery-powered appliances:1) that are charged by a power unit other than Class 2;2) with an integral Class 2 or other than Class 2 power unit;3) using general purpose (non-chargeable) batteries installed by the user;4) that are supported by the body, not solely hand-held;5) with a stand alone ba

    15、ttery pack that is contained in a separate enclosure and isconnected by a cord; or6) that are automatically or remotely controlled;b) portable appliances directly supplied from a battery-powered electrical system of a vehiclesuch as a connector intended for insertion into a cigarette lighter recepta

    16、cle; andc) stationary or fixed rechargeable battery-powered appliances.7.1.4 3 These requirements supplement and replace those in Clauses16,9,10,and11ofthisStandard.7.1.5 4 The term Class 2 power unit, as used in these requirements, refers to a direct plug-in orcord-connected Class 2 or non-Class 2

    17、power unit, - Class 2 battery charger, or Class 2 power supply.,or Class 2 power unit.7.3 GeneralSTANDARD NUMBER: UL 1017 -2-UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL7.3.1 Components7.3.1.1 A Class 2 power unit shall comply with:a) The

    18、Standard for Class 2 Power Units, UL 1310 and the Standard for Power Supplies withExtra-Low-Voltage Class 2 Output, CSA C22.2 No. 223; orb) b) The Standard for Information Technology Equipment Safety - Part 1: GeneralRequirements, UL 60950-1 and the Standard for Information Technology Equipment Safe

    19、ty -Part 1: General Requirements, CSA C22.2 No. 60950-1 with an output that complies with thelimited power source (LPS) or Class 2 requirements.7.3.1.1A A non-Class 2 power unit shall comply with:a) The Standard for Power Units Other Than Class 2, UL 1012 and the Standard for BatteryChargers, CSA C2

    20、2.2 No. 107.2; orb) The Standard for Information Technology Equipment Safety - Part 1: General Requirements,UL 60950-1 and the Standard for Information Technology Equipment Safety - Part 1: GeneralRequirements, CSA C22.2 No. 60950-1.7.3.1.1 With reference to Clause 3.1, a Class 2 power unit shall co

    21、mply with the Standard for PowerSupplies with Extra-Low-Voltage Class 2 Output, CSA C22.2 No. 223 and the Standard for Class 2 PowerUnits, UL 1310.7.3.1.2 A nickel cadmium (Ni-Cad) battery assembly or battery pack shall comply with the applicablerequirements of this end-product standard.7.3.1.3 A ni

    22、ckel metal hydride (Ni-MH) battery assembly or battery pack shall comply with the applicablerequirements of this end-product standard.7.3.1.4 A lithium ion (Li-On) battery shall comply with the requirements for secondary lithium cells in theStandard for Lithium Batteries, UL 1642.Exception: A batter

    23、y or battery pack that has been evaluated as part of a lithium ion battery system inaccordance with the Standard for Lithium Ion Battery Systems for Use in Electric Power Tool and MotorOperated, Heating and Lighting Appliances, UL 2575, is considered to comply with this requirement.Compliance to UL

    24、2575 is to be determined by evaluating the appliance in conjunction with this endproduct standard.7.3.1.4.1 Factors that shall be taken into consideration when determining the acceptability of the lithiumion battery are:a) the ratings and acceptability criteria for the lithium ion battery:b) evaluat

    25、ion of multiple batteries or cells when used as a battery pack or integral battery; andc) the compatibility of the end-product, battery (cell or pack), and charger.7.3.1.4.2 With reference to Clause 7.3.1.4.1, a lithium ion battery pack shall comply with the followingrequirements from the Standard f

    26、or Household and Commercial Batteries, UL 2054:a) Abnormal Charging Test,STANDARD NUMBER: UL 1017 -3-UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULb) Abusive Overcharge Test,c) Forced-Discharge Test, andd) 250 N Steady Force Test.Exception N

    27、o 1: For battery pack that can only be connected to a specific charging unit due to the uniquephysical design of the mating connection, the Abnormal Charging and Abusive Discharge Test are notrequired.Exception No. 2: An automatic rechargeable battery-powered vacuum cleaner that uses a lithium ionba

    28、ttery or battery pack shall comply with all the requirements in the Standard for Lithium Ion BatterySystems for Use in Electric Power Tool and Motor Operated, Heating and Lighting Appliances, UL 2575.Compliance to UL 2575 is to be determined by evaluating the appliance in conjunction with this endpr

    29、oduct standard.7.3.1.5 A docking (charging) station of an automatic rechargeable battery-powered vacuum cleaner shallcomply with:a) The Standard for Power Supplies with Extra-Low-Voltage Class 2 Outputs, C22.2 No. 223and the Standard for Class 2 Power Units, UL 1310; orb) The Standard for Informatio

    30、n Technology Equipment Safety - Part 1: General Requirements,C22.2 No. 60950-1 and the Standard for Information Technology Equipment Safety - Part 1:General Requirements, UL 60950-1 with an output that complies with the limited power source(LPS) or Class 2 requirements.7.3.1.6 A vehicle battery adap

    31、ter shall comply with:a) The Standard for Vehicle Battery Adapters, UL 2089; andb) The Standard for General-Use Power Supplies, CSA C22.2 No. 107.1 used in conjunctionwith the Standard for Battery Chargers, CSA C22.2 No. 107.2 or the Standard for PowerSupplies with Extra-Low-Voltage Class 2 Outputs,

    32、 CSA C22.2 No. 223.7.3.1.6.1 With reference to Clause 7.3.1.6a), a vehicle battery adaptor shall comply with the followingrequirements from the Standard for Vehicle Battery Adaptors, UL 2089:a) Flexible Cords;b) Input Contacts;c) Strain Relief test;d) Abnormal, battery supply cord short circuit test

    33、; ande) Resistance to Crushing test.7.3.1.7 An appliance provided with a USB connection for recharging the battery shall be evaluated as anappliance charged by a Class 2 power unit, and shall comply with the following:a) if an electronic control board is used, the printed wiring board shall have a m

    34、inimum HBflame rating, or the enclosure of the control board shall have a minimum HB flame rating;STANDARD NUMBER: UL 1017 -4-UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULb) the USB cord shall comply with the Standard for Appliance Wiring M

    35、aterial, UL 758, and theStandard for Appliance Wiring Material Products, CSA-C22.2 No. 210;c) the USB connector material shall have a minimum HB flame rating; andd) the following statement, or equivalent, shall appear in the marking or instruction manual:“Use only with Listed/Certified Computer Equi

    36、pment”.7.4 Construction7.4.1 General7.4.1.1 For the requirements specified in Clause 4, the following risks shall be considered for an applianceunit and a battery pack:a) for an appliance charged by a Class 2 power unit, and a battery pack - the risk of fire andinjury to persons, including battery r

    37、esponse, shall be considered;b) for an appliance charged by a non-Class 2 power unit - the risk of electric shock, fire andinjury to persons, including battery response, shall be considered;c) for an appliance for use with a vehicle battery adapter - the risk of fire and injury to persons,shall be c

    38、onsidered.a) fire; andb) injury to persons, including battery response.7.4.1.2 For the purpose of these requirements, a risk of electric shock is considered to exist in anyaccessible part of a system if a potential greater than the following exists:a) For wet pick-up or extraction type appliances: 1

    39、5 volts rms, 21.2 volts ac peak, or 30 voltscontinuous dc; orb) For other appliances: 30 volts rms, 42.4 volts ac peak, or 60 volts continuous dc.7.4.2 Enclosures7.4.2.1 With respect to Clause 4.1.1.5, rechargeable battery-powered appliance is considered anunattended appliance when charging.7.4.2.2

    40、Openings in enclosures7.4.2.2.1 The requirement in Clause 4.1.2.9 does not apply to a permanently attached wall hung chargerbase connected to a direct plug-in Class 2 power unit that can be removed from the supply without theuse of a tool.7.4.3 Mechanical assembly7.4.3.1 A battery assembly An integr

    41、al battery assembly, other than a detachable battery pack, shall notbe specified for user replacement and shall not be accessible to the user without the use of a tool. Inconjunction with Clause 4.1.4, Aa battery assembly is considered to be accessible to the user if:STANDARD NUMBER: UL 1017 -5-UL C

    42、OPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULa) the user can access the battery assembly terminals without the use of a tool;b) the user can access any portion of the battery assembly intended to be charged by a non-class 2 power unit.,orb) acc

    43、ess to the battery assembly with a tool the user is instructed to use for any purpose is notprohibited by a cautionary marking in accordance with Clause 7.8.3.2.Exception: Users may be instructed to remove the battery assembly for proper disposal or recycling atthe end of product life.7.4.3.2 If the

    44、 user is instructed to open the appliance unit enclosure using a tool for any purpose, theappliance unit shall be provided with the marking specified in Clause 7.8.3.2.7.4.4 Terminals7.4.4.1 Terminals of provided on an appliance unit intended for charging the batteries using a Class 2power unit, and

    45、 terminals of a battery pack charged by a Class 2 power unit, shall be guarded or recessedfrom the face of a connector to reduce the likelihood of short-circuiting. The terminal guard shall restrictcontact across the terminals by a straight edge nominally 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) thick placed in any posit

    46、ionacross and in contact with edges of the external parts of the appliance unit or the battery pack.7.4.4.2 For appliances intended to be charged by a non-Class 2 power unit, terminals on the appliance orbattery pack shall not be accessible; see Clause 4.1.4.7.4.5 Electrical insulation7.4.5.1 The re

    47、quirements in Clause 4.7.2 covering electrical insulation do not apply to an appliance unitand a battery pack where the voltage is less than specified in 7.4.1.2 and the circuit is supplied by:a) a battery assembly,b) a Class 2 power unit, orc) a vehicle battery adapter, provided with a fuse or circ

    48、uit protector on the input with a currentrating not more than 5A.7.4.6 Motors7.4.6.1 The requirements in Clause 4.8 covering motors do not apply (see Clause 7.5.11.5). where thevoltage is less than specified in 7.4.1.2 and the motor is supplied by:a) a battery assembly,b) a Class 2 power unit, orc)

    49、a vehicle battery adapter, provided with a fuse or circuit protector on the input with a currentrating not more than 5A.7.4.7 Switches, relays, and similar controls7.4.7.1 For the requirements in Clause 4.9.1, a switch or similar control employed in an appliance unit thatcontrols a motor load shall have a dc rating not less than that of the circuit it controls.STANDARD NUMBER: UL 1017 -6-UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULException No. 1: A switch or similar control that controls a motor for a moving part t
