II EIA TIA-620AO 95 3234b00 0563092 144 Sectional specification for single-mode fiber optic branching devices for outside plant applications Foreword (This forew
、ord is informative only and is not part of this Standard.) This specification comes from TIA Standards Proposal Number 2084, formulated under the cognizance of TIA FO-6.3, Subcommittee on Fiber Optic Interconnecting Devices. This Specification forms a part of a set of TINEIA standards that systemati
、cally specifies performance requirements for branching devices. This hierarchical specification system comprises four tiers: The Generic Specification, TINEIA-6200000, is the umbrella document for all branching device specifications. It delineates minimum requirements that are common to all branchin
、g device types, as well as providing a “shopping list“ of test requirements and test methods that may be applied to families of branching devices targeted toward various applications, and to specific groups of branching device designs; Sectional Specifications define requirements for branching devic
、e families, ordered by primary application. They set forth requirements applicable to all branching devices in the family. Sectional Specifications reference the Generic Specification, extracting requirements applicable to the branching device family. They may introduce other requirements that are n
、ot addressed in the Generic Specification. Values for most requirements are delegated specifically to the Detail Specifications; Blank Detail Specifications are prepared for a limited series of branching device subfamilies that fall within the family of the relevant Sectional Specification. They giv
、e specific directions for writing Detail Specifications and may introduce additional requirements that are not addressed in the hig her-order documents; Detail Specifications follow the applicable Blank Detail Specification and provide detailed requirements for specific applications. They also may i
、ntroduce additional requirements not addressed in the higher-order documents. Values for primary performance requirements are given in the Detail Specifications. Detail Specifications may be written by TIA Working Groups or by manufacturers. Some attributes may be delegated to the procurement docume
、nt. The procurement document references the applicable Detail Specification. 31、0A000 1.1 Intent This Specification was formulated for the purpose of providing a document setting forth engineering and use requirements as necessary for purchase of single-mode passive branching devices for outside plant applications. Use of this document is intended to eliminate misunderstandings
、 or confusion between the supplier and user with respect to product performance requirements and test procedures. All Detail Specifications shall be derived from this Sectional Specification, all associated Blank Detail Specifications, the Generic Specification TINEIA- 6200000, and EIARIA-455-A. The
、se documents follow the specification structure used in the U.S. National Electronic Components Quality Assessment System (NECQ). For further details, see the Foreword. 1.2 Scope This Specification applies to uniform (equal splitting ratio) single-mode passive branching devices that are designed for
、 outside plant applications. 2 Normative references The latest published revisions, addendums, and notices for the issue of the following documents in effect on the date of use of this Specification in invitation for bids or requests for proposals, form part of this Specification to the extent speci

、0 75 3234600 05b3095 953 W 3 Background information 3.1 Object The object of this Specification is to define requirements for passive branching devices and to assist those who prepare Detail Specifications based on this document. This object is carried out, in part, by prescribing required attribute
、s and their preferred values or characteristics, and in selecting from the Generic Specification the appropriate quality assessment procedures, tests, and measurement methods. Clause 4 specifies the attributes that must be specified in a derived Detail Specification, along with preferred values and
、characteristics. Clause 5 describes the Quality Assessment procedures and includes qualification approval and Quality Conformance Inspection (QCI) requirements. Clause 6 outlines the recommended tests and measurements. This Specification also indicates which test options and performance requirements
、 may be left to the Detail Specification writer. 3.2 Information to be given in a Detail Specification Each Detail Specification shall be derived from a Blank Detail Specification. Required attributes and preferred values are given in clause 4 of this Sectional Specification. Additional attributes o
、r preferred values may be specified. In addition, the following information shall be given in each Detail Specification: 3.2.1 Classification and type requirements Product classification and contruction information, along with a description of the application, shall be in the Detail Specification. 3
、.2.2 Required performance attributes For each required attribute, specify the following: a) Attribute name b) Test procedure(s) and information required by the procedures c) One of the following: - Limit bound(s) - Nominal value(s) and tolerance 2 EIA TIA-620A000 95 3234600 0.563096 9T W TIN EI A-62
、0A000 d) Minimum sample size for qualification and periodic requalification e) Minimum frequency for periodic requalification f) Additional QCI method(s) and associated required information Normative annexes may be used to record classes of specified information so that the body of the Detail Specif

、section. Preferred values and characteristics may also be given. Whenever the word “preferred,“ or “typically,“ appears below, it shall be considered to be synonymous with “recommended.“ The attributes specified in Detail Specifications shall include the following 4.1 Classification Describe the cla
