If the shock pulse type is not specified, use the half-sine pulse. Before attempting to test any item, verify that

、 the test apparatus (shock machine and shock measuring instrumentation) has been properly Set-up and calibrated to perform the prescribed test. Refer to Annex A and to Annex B for general requirements. 5.2 Pre-Test Inspection. Before installing the specimen(s) in the shock test equipment, make a vis

、ual and physical examination of each specimen in accordance with FOTP-13 to assure that specimens have not been obviously damaged before test. 5.3 Specimen Mounting. Fasten the specimen(s) to the table of the shock testing machine, as described in 4.2. Unless otherwise specified in the Detail Specif

、ication, if the test specimen, is normally mounted on vibration isolators, the isolators shall be functional during the test. 5.4 Pre-Shock Measurements. Perform any pre-shock optical tests (e.g., optical transmittance in accordance with FOTP-20, optical discontinuities in accordance with FOTP-32) r

、equired by the Detail Specification. 5.5 Conduct Shock Test. Operate the shock test machine for the test severities specified in the Detail Specification. Refer to Table I for standard test options (duration, peak acceleration value, waveform). The specified test pulse (half-sine or sawtooth pulse)

、shall be in accordance with Figures 1 and 2 respectively (as stated in 5.1, the half-sine pulse applies if waveform is not specified by the Detail Specification). The pulse shall have a duration and peak value in accordance with one of the test conditions shown in Table I. If not specified in the De

、tail Specification, Test Condition Letter A shall apply. Refer to Table II for the preferred numbers of shocks to be . delivered. If not specified by the Detail Specification, three shocks in each direction shall be applied along the three mutually perpendicular axes of the test specimen (18 shocks)
