、 TIA-168-C-1 ii FOREWORD (This foreword is not part of this Standard.) This document is an addendum to TIA 168-C, Telecommunications Telephone Terminal Equipment Labeling Requirements. It was developed to expand the definitions for Equipment Classifications (Equipment Codes) IP, IS, and IT to includ
、e VoIP products used with Advanced Communications Services. This addendum was produced by Engineering Committee TR-41, Performance and Accessibility for Communications Products. It was developed in accordance with TIA procedural guidelines, and represents the consensus position of the Committee, whi

、 TERMINAL EQUIPMENT LABELING REQUIREMENTS AMENDMENT 1 1. SCOPE This addendum provides changes to TIA-168-C, Telecommunications Telephone Terminal Equipment Labeling Requirements. Clause 2 of this document adds the term “Advanced Communications Services” to TIA-168-C Clause 3, Definitions. Clause 3 o
、f this document provides changes to the TIA-168-C Annex A.8 descriptions for the IP, IS, and IT codes related to VoIP equipment. These changes are being made to expand the descriptions of these three codes to cover equipment that provides communications via Advanced Communications Services (as defin
、ed in the new addition to clause 2) in addition to the PSTN. The other clauses and sub-clauses in TIA-168-C are not affected. Additions to the text are shown underlined and deletions are shown using strikeout. Words that appear in underlined italics are intended as instructions to the reader. 2. ADD
、ITION TO CLAUSE 3 Add the following definition in proper alphabetical order: Advanced Communications Services (ACS) Communications services that include interconnected and non-interconnected VoIP services. Interconnected VoIP services enable people to make and receive calls to and from the public sw

Non-interconnected VoIP includes services that enable real-time voice communications that either originate or terminate on the PSTN (but not both) or that neither originate nor terminate on the PSTN. 3. CHANGES TO ANNEX A.8 Make the following changes to the descripti
