    37、e 1). The signal delivered by the T1 carrier is received on the packet-based gateway T1 and R1 leads. The signal delivered by the packet-based gateway to the T1 carrier is transmitted on the T and R leads. The characteristics of the signals at the DS1 packet-based gateway interface are not symmetric

    38、al; i.e., some of the electrical requirements differ for the transmit and receive signals. The terms transmit and receive are used to refer to signals from the perspective of the packet-based gateway. The requirements for the electrical interface are summarized below: Line Rate: 1544 kbps 32 ppm (50

    39、 b/s). The tolerance is for operating without any synchronization to a network clock (e.g., self-timed, free-running). During synchronized operation, the line-rate accuracy shall be as specified in ANSI/TIA-594-B (Ref 8) and ANSI T1.101 (Ref 7) for the appropriate stratum level. Line Code: B8ZS. (Se

    40、e text for pulse density constraints.) Test Load: Resistive termination of 100 5%. Pulse amplitude An isolated pulse transmitted from the Network to the packet-based gateway shall have a base-to-peak amplitude between 2.25 V and 3.6 V. An isolated pulse transmitted from the packet-based gateway to t

    41、he Network shall have a base-to-peak amplitude between 2.4 V and 3.6 V. Pulse Shape: An isolated pulse shall fit the template shown in Figure 3. An isolated pulse is a pulse preceded by at least four zeros, and followed by at least one or more zeros. Power Levels: For an all “ones“ transmitted patte

    42、rn, the power in a 3 1 kHz band centered about 772 kHz shall be in the range 12.4 to 19.7 dBm. The power in a 3 1 kHz band centered about 1544 kHz shall be at least 25 dB less than the power measured at 772 kHz. Pulse Imbalance: In any window of 17 consecutive bits, the maximum variation in pulse am

    43、plitudes shall be less than 200 mV and the maximum variation in pulse width at half amplitude shall be less than 20 ns. 60 Hz Pulse Amplitude Variation: Pulse amplitude may vary at a 60 Hz rate as a result of longitudinal currents in the powering loops of T1 repeaters. In such cases, the envelope of

    44、 the pulse amplitude shall be limited as shown in Figure 4. Any pulse amplitude in the ranges given above may be used as the 100% point in Figure 4. Notes: 1. The signal received by the packet-based gateway at the network interface has the characteristics specified above, with the exception that the

    45、 pulse characteristics will be those of the standard signal transmitted through a cable pair with a loss in the range of 0.0 to 16.5 dB at 772 kHz into a 100 termination. The lower limit of the standard pulse amplitude shall be 2.25 V rather than 2.4 V. 2. Older equipment may have rate variations up
