This Telecommunications Systems Bulletin has been developed by Subcommittee TR-45.6, and contain

34、s information which may be useful to implementors of systems compliant with TSB-87, “Cellular Digital Packet Data System Specification,“ or its derivatives. This document contains significant portions of material originally submitted by the Cellular Digital Packet Data Fom Inc. CDPD is a technology

35、intended to provide packet data networking services to mobile hosts. The media used to provide these services consists of radio channels typically used for Advanced Mobile Phone System (AMPS) cellular service. o. 1 Document Structure This Telecommunications Systems Bulletin is published as a series

36、of Parts. Each Part contains information pertaining to one aspect of the system. The functional structure of this TSB is as follows: o Part 1000 to Part 1999-Guidelines for Service Providers These Parts are informative and discuss non-CDPD specific entities (such as Intermediate Systems), support se

A number of issues must be considered before startin

42、g any registration service. This Plan provides an explanation of critical areas where policies and procedures must be developed, and describes the role and responsibilities of the CDPD registration staff. Additionally, it discusses the importance of developing registration templates and software in

43、conjunction with using manual logs, while providing the capability of displaying this information to the world. This plan also discusses the major Identifiers assigned by the CDPD NIC, and provides sample registration templates for each Identifier. The CDPD NIC will use this plan to administer uniqu

This section discuss

46、s to the CDPD community, policies and procedures, templates, roles and responsibilities, software and a database must be provided, along with how they will be used. The following section discusses the major issues in each of these areas. PoIiciedProcedures and Responsibilities Policies and procedure

47、s are often overlooked as an aspect of any registration type service. Many organizations implement policies and registration procedures to rectify a problem that has occurred. Implementing a procedure after the fact is often too late and overcomplicates the process of registering an Identifier. Poli

48、cies and procedures have to be developed with the total inclusion of the registration staff, CDPD service providers and frequent users of the CDPD NIC. Policies and procedures must be developed for registering each and every entity at the CDPD NIC. These policies and procedures must be established b

The most important policies and procedures to be developed for registration type services pertain to the following areas: o o o 0 0 Establishing criteria and determining who is eligible to receive a unique CDPD Identifier is a significant challenge. Since the CDPD NIC will service hundreds of service providers and millions of clients, many Identifier requests will be received for processing. When establishing a c
