This document is an addendum to TIA TSB-31-D, Telecommunications Telephone Terminal Equipment Rationale and Measurement Guidelines for U.S. Network Protection. It was developed to provide a ne

、w subsection on test procedures for performing out-of-band metallic and longitudinal noise measurements on equipment with acoustic inputs. In addition this addendum includes some modifications to the sequencing of environmental simulations and grounding requirements when performing longitudinal volt

、age measurements. This addendum was produced by Subcommittee TR-41.9, Technical and Administrative Regulatory Considerations. It was developed in accordance with TIA procedural guidelines and represents the consensus position of the Subcommittee, which served as the formulating group. It also receiv

、ed the concurrence of Engineering Committee TR-41, Performance and Accessibility for Communications Products. The leadership of the TR-41.9 Technical and Administrative Regulatory acknowledges the written contributions provided by the following individuals in the development of this addendum. Organi

The input-output characteristics of this amplif

、ier should be linear for the range of sound pressure levels to be measured Add the items 75 through 77 as follows: (75) Signal source with IEEE 269 real male speech. (76) ITU-T P.58 Head and Torso Simulator (HATS). (77) Real-Time Analyzer: An analyzer capable of measuring real-time analysis with 1/1

、2th octave bands averaged over the entire duration of the test signal. 2.4 Changes to subclause 6.1 Sequence of Environmental Simulations Modify the first paragraph as follows: TIA-968-B subclause 4.1 requires that “Unpackaged Certified Terminal Equipment and Certified Protective Circuitry shall com

、ply with all the criteria specified in this standard, both prior to and after the application of each of the mechanical and electrical stresses TSB-31-D-2 3 specified in this section“ For practical reasons, the accepted method for equipment which has not been affected by environmental simulations is

、 to perform complete electrical testing, not after each stress but once after all stresses. For practical reasons, if the device is fully operational following the application of the environmental simulations, complete electrical testing may be performed following the application of all stresses as o

、pposed to following each stress. If the device under test is not fully operational following the application of the electrical stresses, then complete electrical testing shall be repeated following each stress on a second sample to demonstrate compliance. 2.5 Changes to subclause 9.15 Non-LADC Longi

、tudinal Voltage 0.1 4 kHz TIA-968-B, 5.1.7 Modify the Note of subclause 9.15.4 Equipment States Subject to Test as follows: Note: Terminal equipment may require special attention to ensure it is properly configured for this test. For example, If the equipment would normally be connected to ac-power

、ground, or cold-water-pipe ground, or if it has a metallic or partially metallic exposed surface, then these points should be connected to the test ground plane. Similarly,If the EUT, under normal usage conditions, provides connections to other equipment through which ground may be introduced to the

、 equipment, then these points should be connected to the test ground plane. The EUT should comply with the longitudinal voltage limits under all normal usage conditions. Equipment which does not contain any of these potential connections to ground should be placed on a conductive plate which is conn
