、-102.BACC-B iForeword (This foreword is not part of this bulletin.) This document has been created in response to a request by the APCO/NASTD/FED Project 25 Steering Committee as provided for in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) dated April 1992 and amended December 1993. The MOU states APCO/NASTD
、/FED shall devise a Common System Standard for digital public safety communications (the Standard) commonly referred to as Project 25 or P25, and that TIA, as agreed to by the membership of the appropriate TIA Engineering Committee, will provide technical assistance in the development of documentati
、on for the Standard. If the abbreviation “P25” or the wording “Project 25” appears on the cover sheet of this document when published that indicates the APCO/NASTD/FED Project 25 Steering Committee has adopted this document as part of the Standard. The appearance of the abbreviation “P25” or the wor
、ding “Project 25” on the cover sheet of this document or in the title of any document referenced herein should not be interpreted as limiting the applicability of the information contained in any document to “P25” or “Project 25” implementations exclusively. This document provides an informative ove
、rview of the Inter-RF Subsystem Interface (ISSI) and a high level description of the services supported by the ISSI consistent with TSB-102-B (TIA-102 Documentation Suite Overview). This document also identifies (1) TIA publications that comprise the ISSI documentation suite and (2) future ISSI stan
、dards development considerations. This revision reflects relevant progress that has occurred since publication of TSB-102.BACC-A in 2003. The main purpose of the 2003 document was to facilitate the development of the initial set of ISSI TIA-102 documentation for possible adoption by APCO/NASTD/FED P
、roject 25 as part of the Standard. As such, TSB-102.BACC-A contains information that is now provided in currently available ISSI TIA-102 documentation and related documents or is now out-of-date. This revision serves as an umbrella document to the ISSI TIA-102 documentation suite by providing a high
、-level overview of the ISSI features, the documents that are published, and the documents currently being drafted. This revision provides a current overview of features, trunked and conventional capabilities and architectures, and where to find more details. TIA makes no claims as to the applicabili
、ty of the information contained in this document for any purpose although it is believed that the information will prove to be invaluable to manufacturers and operators of ISSI equipment. Some aspects of the specifications contained in this document may not have been operationally tested; however, a
、 great deal of time and good faith effort has been invested in the preparation of this document to ensure the accuracy of the information it contains. This document is subject to change as the ISSI adds features and services. TSB-102.BACC-B ii Patent Identification The readers attention is called to
、 the possibility that compliance with this document may require the use of one or more inventions covered by patent rights. By publication of this document no position is taken with respect to the validity of those claims or any patent rights in connection therewith. The patent holders so far identi

The following patent holders and patents have been identified in accordance with the TIA intellectual p
、roperty rights policy: None identified TIA shall not be responsible for identifying patents for which licenses may be required by this document or for conducting inquiries into the legal validity or scope of those patents that are brought to its attention. 42、troduction 1.1 Objective of the ISSI Standards The objective of the Inter-RF Subsystem Interface (ISSI) documents is to specify an open interface in the General System Model that supports extended communication capabilities for dispatch and subscribers of services. This is accomplished via the inter
、connection of Radio Frequency Subsystems (RFSSs). 1.2 Purpose and Scope of this ISSI Overview The purpose of the ISSI Overview is to provide an informative overview of key technical aspects and considerations supporting specification of the ISSI. This document serves as the umbrella document for the
、 ISSI document suite. It includes a high-level overview of the ISSI features and services consistent with the TIA-102 Documentation Suite Overview 102. This document also identifies ISSI-related documents that have been published and documents currently in progress as well as future ISSI considerati
、ons. In addition, this document provides an overview of trunked and conventional capabilities and architectures supported by the ISSI, and cites selected references relevant to obtaining further information on the topics presented in this Telecommunication Standards Bulletin (TSB). The architecture
、discussion also presents the Fixed Station Subsystem Interface (FSSI) and the Console Subsystem Interface (CSSI) and how these interfaces relate to the ISSI in order to provide a more complete picture of the extended communication capabilities discussed in this document. The scope of this document i
