、TIA/EIA/IS-834xiiNo text.1TIA/EIA/IS-8341-11 INTRODUCTION11.1 Scope2This specification provides general requirements and detailed Upper Layers (Layer 3)3signaling protocols and procedures for the DS-41 radio interface. The protocols and4procedures address functionality that is customarily classified

、 as pertaining to Call Control5and Mobility Management. Such functionality includes basic and supplementary services6provision, connection management, registration, security functions, identification of7subscriber equipment and its capabilities etc.; this functionality excludes the management8of rad

、io resources, such as system selection and acquisition, channel allocation, release9and monitoring, RF measurement processing, handoff, and other related items.10The normative sections of this specification are stated in terms of requirements to be met by11infrastructure and by subscriber equipment

、that operate in DS-41 mode. The protocols12and procedures apply to the Upper Layers, as stated above.13Requirements for dual-mode DS-41/MC-41 systems, when operating in the MC-41 mode14and when executing a transition (e.g., handoff, service redirection) to the DS-41 mode are15given in Annex C.16Othe

、r documents (see 1.4) contain further requirements and/or capability descriptions17necessary for the procedures and protocols not covered by this specification. It is intended18that this specification, together with the accompanying documents, form a complete and19functional specification set for th

、in the referenced documents are not25repeated within this text. The list below contains only definitions and abbreviations that26are considered essential for this specification; however, some terms are also provided for27clarity or provided as a convenience to the reader.
