8、per 1 Scope 1.1 This specification covers the requirements for grade B tough pitch copper not intended for hot- or cold-working but suitable for casting and for making up copper alloys. NOTE The attention of users of this specification is drawn to the fact that the shape and size required must be sp
9、ecified in tender invitations and in the order or contract (see 3.2). 2 Definitions 2.1 For the purposes of this specification the following definitions shall apply: acceptable acceptable to the authority administering this standard, or to the parties concluding the purchase contract, as relevant Am

13、2 Shapes and sizes The copper shall be supplied in the form of cakes, slabs, billets, ingots, or ingot bars, as specified by the purchaser, and of the size required by the purchaser. 3.3 Freedom from defects Cakes, slabs, and billets shall be substantially free from harmful physical defects such as
14、shrink holes, cracks, cold sets, pits, raised edges, and other defects in casting or set. 4 Marking 4.1 The following shall be legibly stamped on or cast into each cake, slab, billet, ingot, or ingot bar: a) the manufacturers name or brand name; and b) the batch identification. 5 Sampling and compli
15、ance with the specification1)5.1 Sampling The following sampling procedure shall be applied in determining whether a lot complies with the requirements of the specification, and the sample so taken shall be deemed to represent the lot: After inspecting each item in the lot for compliance with the re
16、quirements of 3.2, 3.3 (when relevant), and section 4, take at random one cake, slab, billet, ingot, or ingot bar, as relevant. 5.2 Compliance with the specification The lot shall be deemed to comply with the requirements of the specification if, after inspecting each item in the lot for compliance
17、with the requirements of 3.2, 3.3 (when relevant), and section 4 and analysing the sample for compliance with the requirements of 3.1, no defective is found. 1) This section applies to the sampling for inspection and testing before acceptance or rejection of single lots (consignments) in cases where
18、 no information about the implementation of quality control or testing during manufacture is available to help in assessing the quality of the lot. It is also used as the procedure for adjudicating in cases of dispute. SANS 807:2009 Edition 2.2 5 6 Methods of analysis 6.1 Preparation of sample Using
19、 a wire brush, thoroughly clean the surface of the sample taken in accordance with 5.1. Drill one or more holes of diameter such as to provide enough drillings for the complete analysis2). Do not use a lubricant. Discard the drillings from the first 5 mm of depth of each hole and stop drilling at le
20、ast 5 mm away from the other side of the sample.
