、nal Electrotechnical Commission) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprisingall national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of the IEC is to promoteinternational co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fi

、elds. Tothis end and in addition to other activities, the IEC publishes International Standards. Their preparation isentrusted to technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested in the subject dealt with mayparticipate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non-governm

、ental organizations liaisingwith the IEC also participate in this preparation. The IEC collaborates closely with the International Organizationfor Standardization (ISO) in accordance with conditions determined by agreement between the twoorganizations.2) The formal decisions or agreements of the IEC

、 on technical matters express, as nearly as possible, aninternational consensus of opinion on the relevant subjects since each technical committee has representationfrom all interested National Committees.3) The documents produced have the form of recommendations for international use and are publis

、hed in the formof standards, technical specifications, technical reports or guides and they are accepted by the NationalCommittees in that sense.4) In order to promote international unification, IEC National Committees undertake to apply IEC InternationalStandards transparently to the maximum extent

、 possible in their national and regional standards. Anydivergence between the IEC Standard and the corresponding national or regional standard shall be clearlyindicated in the latter.5) The IEC provides no marking procedure to indicate its approval and cannot be rendered responsible for anyequipment

、 declared to be in conformity with one of its standards.6) Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this International Standard may be the subjectof patent rights. The IEC shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.International Standard IEC

、 61386-23 has been prepared by subcommittee 23A: Cablemanagement systems, of IEC technical committee 23: Electrical accessories. The text of this standard is based on the following documents:FDIS Report on voting23A/368/FDIS 23A/371/RVDFull information on the voting for the approval of this standard

、can be found in the report onvoting indicated in the above table. This publication has been drafted in accordance with the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 3.This part 23, which specifies particular requirements for flexible conduit systems, is to be usedin conjunction with IEC 61386-1, Conduit systems for c

、able installations Part 1: GeneralRequirements 1, and its amendments. It was established on the basis of the first edition (1996)of that standard and its amendment 1 (2000)._1Please note that the generic title of the IEC 61386 series has been changed to Conduit systems for cablemanagement since the

、publication of part 1, hence all other parts of the series are now published under this newtitle.61386-23 IEC:2002 7 This part 23 supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses of IEC 61386-1. Where aparticular clause or subclause of part 1 is not mentioned in this part 23, that clause orsubclaus

、e applies as far as is reasonable. Where this part 23 states “addition“, “modification“or “replacement“, the relevant text of part 1 is to be adapted accordingly.Subclauses, tables and figures which are in addition to those in part 1 are numbered startingwith 101.A conduit system which complies with

、 this standard, is deemed safe for use when installed inaccordance with national wiring regulations, whilst applying the manufacturers installationinstructions and conduit classification.NOTE The following print types are used: requirements: in roman type test specifications: in italic type notes: i

、.1.1 2, 6.1.2 1, 6.1.2 2 and classification 1X from 6.2.1,table 1 are not allowed in France.7 Marking and documentationThis clause of part 1 is applicable, except as follows:Addition:7.1.101 The conduit shall be marked in accordance with 7.1 along its entire length at regularintervals of preferably

、1 m but not longer than 3 m. Where this is technically impractical, themark shall be on a label attached to the product at each end, or on the packaging.Compliance is checked by inspection.61386-23 IEC:2002 11 7.1.102 The manufacturer shall document or add to the packaging for the system theminimum

、nduit system shall be as declared by themanufacturer.Compliance is checked by measurement.9 ConstructionThis clause of part 1 is applicable.10 Mechanical propertiesThis clause of part 1 is applicable, except as follows:10.1 Mechanical strength10.1.1 Addition:NOTE Very light flexible conduits should

、not be considered as providing adequate mechanical protection andshould not be used within the construction of buildings.10.4 Bending testThis subclause of part 1 is not applicable.10.5 Flexing test10.5.101 An assembly consisting of a conduit with a terminating conduit fitting, assembled inaccordanc

、e with the manufacturers instructions, shall be subjected to a flexing test by meansof the apparatus shown in figure 101.10.5.102 The test shall be made on six samples of conduit of an appropriate length. Three ofthe samples shall be tested at the minimum declared transport, application and installa

、tiontemperature as given in table 1 with a tolerance of 2 C. The other three samples shall betested at the maximum declared application and installation temperature as given in table 2with a tolerance of 2 C.61386-23 IEC:2002 13 A manufacturer may declare that a flexible conduit is suitable for tran

、sport and installationaccording to table 1 but may only be suitable for flexing at ambient temperature as a minimum. In this case the test shall be carried out at (20 2) C and the 3rd digit of the classificationcode shall be X. The manufacturer shall clearly declare in his literature both the minimum

、transport and installation temperature in accordance with table 1, the minimum applicationtemperature which is ambient and the maximum installation and application temperature inaccordance with table 2.10.5.103 The sample shall be fixed to the oscillating member by means of the terminatingconduit fi

、tting as shown in figure 101, so that when the conduit is at the middle of its travel, theaxis of the conduit is vertical and passes through the axis of the oscillation. The apparatus withthe sample shall be conditioned for 2 h or until the sample has attained the declaredtemperature, whichever peri

、od is the longer.10.5.104 The oscillating member shall be moved backwards and forwards through a totalangle of (180 5) divided equally about the vertical axis. The assembly shall be subjected to5 000 flexings at a rate of (40 5) flexings per minute. A flexing constitutes, starting from thevertical p

、osition, one continuous cycle of movement of essentially sinusoidal forms.10.5.105 After the test, the sample shall show no sign of disintegration, nor shall there be anycracks visible to normal or corrected vision without magnification.10.6 Collapse testThis subclause of part 1 is not applicable.10

、.7 Tensile strengthThis subclause of part 1 is applicable, except as follows:10.7.3 Replacement:For conduit systems where tensile strength is not declared, the tensile strength of the joint shallcomply with classification 1 in table 6.11 Electrical propertiesThis clause of part 1 is applicable, exce

A current of 25 A, having afrequency of 50 Hz to 60 Hz, derived from an a.c. source having a no-loa

、d voltage notexceeding 12 V, shall be passed through the assembly for (5060+) s. Then the voltage dropshall be measured between the points shown in figure 103 and the resistance calculated fromthe current and this voltage drop. The resistance shall not exceed 0,05 .61386-23 IEC:2002 15 Where special

、devices are required for the coupling of conduit and conduit fittings, they shallbe sufficient to remove the protective coating from the conduit, or the protective finish shall beremoved in accordance with the manufacturers instructions.12 Thermal propertiesThis clause of part 1 is applicable, excep
