    31、e United Kingdom.IntroductionA given respiratory protective device can only be approved when the individual components satisfy therequirements of the test specification which may be a complete standard or part of a standard, andpractical performance tests have been carried out successfully on comple

    32、te apparatus where specifiedin the appropriate standard. If for any reason a complete apparatus is not tested then simulation of theapparatus is permitted provided the respiratory characteristics and weight distribution are similar tothose of the complete apparatus.1 ScopeThis European Standard spec

    33、ifies minimum requirements for filtering half masks as respiratoryprotective devices to protect against particles except for escape purposes.Laboratory and practical performance tests are included for the assessment of compliance with therequirements.2 Normative referencesThis European Standard inco

    37、ard the definitions given in EN 132 and the nomenclature givenin EN 134 apply.4 DescriptionA particle filtering half mask covers the nose and mouth and the chin and may have inhalation and/orexhalation valve(s). The half mask consists entirely or substantially of filter material or comprises afacepi

    38、ece in which the main filter(s) form an inseparable part of the device.It is intended to provide adequate sealing on the face of the wearer against the ambient atmosphere,when the skin is dry or moist and when the head is moved.Air enters the particle filtering half mask and passes directly to the n

    39、ose and mouth area of thefacepiece or, via an inhalation valve(s) if fitted. The exhaled air flows through the filter material and/or anexhalation valve (if fitted) directly to the ambient atmosphere.These devices are designed to protect against both solid and liquid aerosols.5 ClassificationParticl

    40、e filtering half masks are classified according to their filtering efficiency and their maximum totalinward leakage. There are three classes of devices:FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3.The protection provided by an FFP2 - or FFP3 - device includes that provided by the device of lowerclass or classes.6 Designatio

    41、nParticle filtering half masks meeting the requirements of this European Standard shall be designated inthe following manner:Particle filtering half mask EN 149, year of publication, class, option.EXAMPLE Particle filtering half mask EN 149 (2000) FFP3D.7 Requirements7.1 GeneralIn all tests all test

    42、 samples shall meet the requirements.Page 7EN 149:20017.2 Nominal values and tolerancesUnless otherwise specified, the values stated in this European Standard are expressed as nominalvalues. Except for temperature limits, values which are not stated as maxima or minima shall besubject to a tolerance

    43、 of 5 %. Unless otherwise specified, the ambient temperature for testing shallbe (16 - 32) C, and the temperature limits shall be subject to an accuracy of 1 C.7.3 Visual inspectionThe visual inspection shall also include the marking and the information supplied by the manufacturer.7.4 PackagingPart

    44、icle filtering half masks shall be offered for sale packaged in such a way that they are protectedagainst mechanical damage and contamination before use.Testing shall be done in accordance with 8.2.7.5 MaterialMaterials used shall be suitable to withstand handling and wear over the period for which

    45、the particlefiltering half mask is designed to be used.After undergoing the conditioning described in 8.3.1 none of the particle filtering half masks shall havesuffered mechanical failure of the facepiece or straps.Three particle filtering half masks shall be tested.When conditioned in accordance wi

    46、th 8.3.1 and 8.3.2 the particle filtering half mask shall not collapse.Any material from the filter media released by the air flow through the filter shall not constitute a hazardor nuisance for the wearer.Testing shall be done in accordance with 8.2.7.6 Cleaning and disinfectingIf the particle filt

    47、ering half mask is designed for more than a single shift (i.e. not designed for single useonly), the materials used shall withstand the cleaning and disinfecting agents recommended by themanufacturer.Testing shall be done in accordance with 8.4 and 8.5.7.7 Practical performanceThe particle filtering

    48、 half mask shall undergo practical performance tests under realistic conditions.These general tests serve the purpose of checking the equipment for imperfections that cannot bedetermined by the tests described elsewhere in this standard.Where practical performance tests show the apparatus has imperf
