19、this International Standard is that the European Recreational Craft Directive (Directive 94/25/EC) makes it compulsory that all recreational craft within the scope of the directive shall be labelled with a builders plate containing specified information. This applies to boats built inside the Europe
20、an Union (EU) as well as boats from other countries intended to be marketed in EU countries. As the recreational craft market is operating worldwide, it seems to be advisable to create an International Standard thus making the requirements of the builders plate known to manufacturers in countries in
21、side and outside the EU to facilitate marketing their boats in EU countries without additional requirements as to labelling. 23、te of small craft with a hull length LHof up to 24 m, measured according to ISO 8666. Excluded are inflatable boats covered by ISO 6185 and personal watercraft covered by ISO 13590. 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. 25、Standard, the following terms and definitions apply. 3.1 design categories description of the sea and wind conditions for which a boat is assessed to be suitable NOTE The following design categories apply. A: Ocean: Designed for extended voyages where conditions may exceed wind force 8 (Beaufort sca
26、le) and significant wave heights of 4 m and above but excluding abnormal conditions, and vessels largely self-sufficient. B: Offshore: Designed for offshore voyages where conditions up to and including wind force 8 and significant wave heights up to and including 4 m may be experienced. C: Inshore:
27、Designed for voyages in coastal waters, large bays, estuaries, lakes and rivers where conditions up to and including wind force 6 and significant wave heights up to and including 2 m may be experienced. D: Sheltered waters: Designed for voyages in sheltered coastal waters, small bays, small lakes, r

31、gine mass for all engines NOTE Mass is expressed in kilograms (kg). 4 General requirements 4.1 Material and fixing The builders plate shall be a rigid plate or flexible label affixed to the craft in such a way that it can only be removed by the use of tools. Alternatively, the boat shell may be used
32、 for the marking. 4.2 Marking Characters and other markings on the builders plate shall be carved, stamped-burned, embossed, moulded, etched, printed, affixed by permanently setting adhesive, or be applied by other suitable means. Alternatively, the information may be printed or etched on the craft
33、itself. The characters shall contrast or be on a different level to the background so that alterations will be obvious. The colours applied to the label shall be fade resistant. 4.3 Size of characters The required information characters shall be at least 5 mm in height. Other characters shall be at
34、least 3 mm in height. 4.4 Size of pictograms and symbols Pictograms and symbols shall be at least 8 mm in height. 4.5 Location The builders plate shall be readily visible, preferably in the cockpit or near the main steering position. In any case, the builders plate shall be separate from the hull id
35、entification number. 5 Displayed information 5.1 The following information, required under the Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) 94/25/EC, shall be displayed on each builders plate. 37、ymbol and the suitcase symbol (see example in A.2). For craft which are powered by outboard engine(s) the mass of the engine(s) shall be included, with the outboard engine symbol (See example in A.3). d) Maximum number of persons that the craft is designed to carry while underway, according to ISO 1
38、4946, with the person symbol. 5.2 Where the manufacturer wishes to assign more than one design category to a boat, the display shall be such that the maximum number of persons and the maximum load are clearly identified to belong to a specific design category. 5.3 The manufacturer is free to provide
39、 additional information in the label. The inclusion of this additional information shall not impair the legibility of the minimum required information and shall be separated from it (preferably by a line or similar delimiter).
