13、part of SANS 1423 specifies the flammability performance requirements only of four classes of curtain and drape fabrics. Amdt 1 1.2 Should any requirement of this standard conflict with any requirements of the regulations issued in terms of the relevant national legislation (see foreword), the requi
14、rements of the said regulations shall prevail. Amdt 3 NOTE a) The use of certain fabric combinations, trims, accessories and sewing threads that are not compatible can have an adverse effect on the flammability performance of a made-up curtain or drape. b) The standards referred to in this part of S

20、bric class Amdt 1 The fabric shall be of one of the following classes, as required: Amdt 1 Class A: Capable of withstanding wash treatments at temperatures of up to 60 C. Amdt 1 Class B: Capable of withstanding dry-cleaning treatments only. Amdt 1 Class C: Capable of withstanding wash treatments at
21、temperatures of up to 40 C. Amdt 2 Class D: Capable of withstanding water-soak treatments only. Amdt 2 NOTE Classes C and D are only for vertical blind fabrics. Amdt 2 3.2 Flammability performance Amdt 1; amdt 2 The fabric of any class shall, both before and after the appropriate cleaning treatment,

Amdt 1; amdt 2 4 Labelling and marking 4.1 The following information shall appear in legible and indelible marking on a label securely attached to the fabric: The fabric class. Amdt 1 5 Methods of t
24、est NOTE a) When taken from a made-up curtain or drape, test specimens shall be free from seams and hems. If the dimensions of an article are insufficient to provide the required size of specimen, staple together shorter pieces of the fabric (without overlapping), using not more than four equally sp
25、aced metal staples over the full width of the test specimen. Amdt 2 b) For vertical blind fabrics (class C or class D, see 3.1), the tests are done in the length direction only. Amdt 2 5.1 Conditioning Condition the test samples in accordance with SANS 70 before cutting from each test sample the tes
26、t specimens required for the tests given in 5.4 to 5.6 (inclusive). 5.2 Cleaning treatment When relevant, the appropriate number of test specimens shall be subjected to the following cleaning treatment applicable to the fabric class: Class A: Five wash cycles in accordance with SANS 960: Procedure B
27、 but, in place of the wetting agent, using an acceptable detergent(without perborate) in the same quantity as that required for the sodium carbonate and soap flakes given in SANS 960: Procedure A. Amdt 1; amdt 3 Class B: Five dry-cleaning cycles in accordance with SANS 6026. Amdt 1 Class C: One wash
28、 cycle in accordance with SANS 960: Procedure C but, in place of the wetting agent, using an acceptable detergent (without perborate) and in the same quantity as for class A. Amdt 2; amdt 3 Class D: Immerse the fabric in cold water (with a wetting agent) for 2 h, in accordance with SANS 1097.Amdt 2
29、SANS 1423-2:2009 Edition 1.3 6 5.3 Sequence of testing NOTE A flow chart illustrating the sequence of testing and the requirements to be determined is given in appendix B. Amdt 1 To economize on the quantity of fabric required and the time and costs involved in testing, tests shall be performed in t
30、he following sequence: a) Stage 1: In the case of a raised or a pile fabric, determine whether surface flash occurs (see 5.4) on test specimens before cleaning. If surface flash does not occur, repeat the test on specimens cleaned in accordance with the treatment appropriate to the fabric class. If
31、flash still does not occur, proceed to stage 2. If surface flash occurs on specimens either before or after cleaning, no further tests are required. b) Stage 2: Determine the ignition time (see 5.5) on test specimens before cleaning. If the ignition time exceeds 20 s, repeat the test on specimens cl
32、eaned in accordance with the treatment appropriate to the fabric class. If the ignition time still exceeds 20 s, proceed to stage 3. If the ignition time on specimens either before or after cleaning is equal to or less than 20 s, no further tests are required. Amdt 1; amdt 2 c) Stage 3: Perform the
33、test for separation of flaming debris and duration of afterflame and afterglow (see 5.6) on test specimens both before and after cleaning in accordance with the treatment appropriate to the fabric class. Amdt 1 5.4 Surface flash Use SANS 6105. Amdt 1 5.5 Ignition time Use the method given in SANS 69
34、40 for surface ignition. 40、irect his attention to the quality management system applied by the manufacturer. In this connection it should be note that SANS 9001 covers the provision of an integrated quality management system.
