During erection, the steelwork 3ould be bolted or otherwise securely fastened, to make adequate provision for all stresses that will develop during hoisting and for loads caused by erection equip- ment and its operation. Temporar

Connections for temporary bracing and additional holes, members or cleats should be provided to facilitate handling and erection, in a manner that does not weaken the permanent

Except where scheduled separately under Subclause 8.3.12 of SA rial assembly of components in the shop or on site, or both, forms a part of the contractor S responsibilities (see Subclause 8.3.1 of SABS 1200 H) to ensure efficiency In the f

Adequate temporary bracing should be introduced, wherever necessary, to accommodate stresses resulting from loads to which steelwork may be subjected during erection, such as loads imposed by stocks of material, plant and equipment, an

No permanent riveting, bolting or welding should be carried out until the par- ticular section of steelwork to be stiffened thereby has been properly aligned, p1 umbed and l eve1 led. Washer

Provisiog has been made in the specification for washers thatF6mply with either SABS 1149 ) or SABS 12826) to give the erector the option of using through-hardened washers, if he so wishes, to reduce gal ling of the steelwork by the nuts.
