    10、N 3.6PHOTOMETRY TEST4.2 Plastic MaterialsAny plastic material used in optical parts shall comply with the requirements set forth inSAE J576.4.3 Color TestColor of the light from a motorcycle headlamp shall be white, as defined in SAE J578.4.4 Aiming Adjustment Tests4.4.1 A minimum aiming adjustment

    11、of 4 degrees in each direction from the vertical and horizontal planes shall beprovided.4.4.2 Headlamps with independent vertical and horizontal aiming adjusting mechanisms:4.4.2.1 The headlamp unit mounting shall be provided with independent vertical and horizontal aimingadjustments. The adjustment

    12、 mechanisms shall be designed so that neither the vertical nor horizontal aimwill deviate more than 100 mm (4 in) from the horizontal or vertical planes, respectively, at a distance of7.6 m (25 ft) through an angle of 4 degrees.4.4.2.2 When adjusting screws are employed, they shall be equipped with

    13、self-locking devices which operatesatisfactorily for a minimum of 10 adjustments on each screw, over a length of screw thread of 3 mm(1/8 in).4.4.3 Headlamps with ball and socket or equivalent adjustment means need not conform with 3.4.2.4.5 Inward Force TestThe mechanism, including the aiming adjus

    14、ters, shall be designed to prevent the unitfrom receding permanently by more than 2.5 mm (0.1 in) into the lamp body or housing when an inward forceof 222 N (50 lbf) is exerted at the geometric center of the outer surface of the lens.4.6 Clarity of Hot Spot DefinitionThe geometric center of the high

    15、-intensity zone of the upper beam of themultiple beam headlamps shall be deamed sufficiently defined for the purpose of service aiming if it can be setby three experienced observers on a vertical screen at 7.6 m (25 ft) within a maximum vertical deviation of0.3 degrees and within a maximum horizonta

    16、l deviation of 0.4 degrees. The aim for each observer shall betaken as the average of at least three observations.4.7 Beam Aim During Photometric Test4.7.1 The upper beam of a multiple beam headlamp shall be aimed photoelectrically so that the center of the zoneof highest intensity falls 0.4 degrees

    17、 vertically below the lamp axis and is centered laterally. The center ofthe zone of highest intensity shall be established by the intersection of a horizontal plane passing through thepoint of maximum intensity, and the vertical plane established by balancing the photometric values at3 degrees left

    18、and 3 degrees right.4.7.2 The beam of a single beam, SAE J213 Classification A + L (moped) lamp shall be aimed photoelectrically sothat the center of the zone at highest intensity falls 1.5 degrees vertically below the lamp axis and is centeredlaterally. The center of the zone of highest intensity s

The bulb or unit shall be operated at 6.4 V f

    21、or a 6 V system and 12.8 V for a 12 V systemduring the test.4.8.2 DESIGN INTENSITY REQUIREMENTSThe beam or beams from the unit shall be designed to conform to theintensity specifications in Tables 1, 2, or 3. Installation RequirementsThe following requirements apply to the devices as used on the vehicle and arenot part of laboratory test requirements and procedures.6.1 Beam SwitchingThe switching of motorcycle headlamps between the upper and lower beams should be bymeans of a swi

    30、tch designed and located so that it may be operated conventionally by a simple movement ofthe operators hand or foot. The switch shall have no dead point between upper and lower beam switchposition.6.1.1 Means shall be provided for indicating to the driver that the upper beam is on. The upper beam i

    31、ndicatorshall be plainly visible to the operator under normal night time driving conditions. See SAE J107 forrecommended high-beam indicator.6.1.2 Semi-automatic headlamp beam switching devices are permitted. See SAE J565.6.2 Field Service AimingAs an aide to head lamp adjustment for maximum perform

    32、ance, the followingprocedure is recommended.6.2.1 A screen placed 7.6 m (25 ft) from the mounted head lamp. Lines on the screen will contain the head lampcenter, both horizontally and vertically.6.2.2 The center of the high intensity zone of the illuminated upper beam of a high/low beam head lamp is

    33、centered at 64 mm (2.5 in) below the lamp center and centered laterally.6.2.3 A single beam head lamp is aimed so that the top cut-off of the illuminated beam will touch the head lamphorizontal center line and be laterally centered on the screen.7.
